Crank Trigger 12 teeth swapped to 36-2 - Syvecs set up ?
Shortacus replied to Shortacus's topic in mkiv Technical
Cheers for all the Info guys ! I've been getting help from Chris at Dyna tune in EK - he has set up the teeth counts & gaps on syvecs. I'm now just adjusting the reference angle till it matches up with the physical marks of TDC on cylinder 1 at the crank. Once the signals match up from the timing light and inputted angle to syvecs on Number 1 will the rest be set - Sorry completely out of my depth with this side of things ! trying to learn as I go. Stopped checking just now as I've spotted an oil leak from the turbo feed pipe ( looks like easy fix ! ) -
Crank Trigger 12 teeth swapped to 36-2 - Syvecs set up ?
Shortacus replied to Shortacus's topic in mkiv Technical
Got the teeth set up - its matching the angle to that of the timing light thats proving the issue - Thats the game plan for today , will give it another go! -
Sorry if this has been posted before - I did try and search ... I'm at the final stage of rebuilding the Supra and it has now been sitting for two weeks because I cant get anyone to set up the new trigger wheel config on Syvecs. Can anyone shed any light on the 36-2 trigger wheel settings ? - I was told when rebuilding the engine this one piece sensor wheel was better than the non vvti that I had for Syvecs sync. Had someone try and set the timing up but we couldn't get it close to matching up with the timing marks on the crank and cam covers. Not the best when it comes to the mapping side of things , going to have to try and do this myself if i want the car back on the road I think. Any help appreciated ! Cheers, Ross

Cheers mate, I'll try get it ordered or at least find out the size!

Cheers mate, guess its off to try and find a o ring that fits, not impressed with this gasket kit at all, £300+ quid and no egr cooler gasket or oil cooler o ring!

Can anyone give any information on the seal arrangement of the oil cooler to block - I have full Toyota engine gasket kit but there doesn't seem to be any gasket that fits the oil cooler on the block side...also pretty sure mine never had anything when I removed it but I doubt that Mobile will never let me upload photos always fails But it is the block to oil cooler bracket I'm looking for advice on..

I'm not worried about the colouring / staining it's the rough metal fragments that seem to be all over the aluminium. I'll just emery them as smooth as possible before sending for a clean and rebuilding.

Tried to attach pics from mobile but never worked for some reason. I'm starting to think my engine wasn't single turbo'd by choice and there has been significant heat and half the stock twins running through the sump at some point. Turbo does not look under 3000 miles old so kinda backs this theory up. The top layer of aluminium looks like it is starting to break up in the sump? Its the metal "ball" looking bits i'd like to smooth out and get rid of before they detach on their own when the engines back together and running - but didn't want to further break up / further damage the aluminium

Currently rebuilding my engine - long story short previous owner singled it less than 3k ago but the block was a mess so I've got doubts about the quality of the work. Anyway... I'm currently cleaning all the parts best I can before a sonic Bath while I wait on the parts for rebuilding the block. I've came across what looks like Corrosion inside the upper sump? Anyone had any experience with this - would I be able to emery down the rough parts till smooth or would this damage the coating/metal? Cheers for any help!

Engine Removal, will the auto box clear the crossmember?
Shortacus replied to Shortacus's topic in mkiv Technical
Hope fully get the answer to this in the same thread save creating a new one... Is anyone aware of a bolt replacement kit or does the forum have a breakdown of the sizes to replace when removing the drivetrain ( forgive the lack of searching, I will do it - I'm just staring at my engine on a pallet as we speak desperate to get the car back out for the sun.... We don't get it often in Scotland ) I've ordered a new oil pump and waterpump, the engine had single work done to it around 2k miles ago ( previous owner) so Ive been told the valve stem seals have been done and the head gasket has been replaced with arp studs also. Is there anything else people would recommend changing / overhauling when you have the engine and gearbox out? Thanks again, Ross -
Engine Removal, will the auto box clear the crossmember?
Shortacus replied to Shortacus's topic in mkiv Technical
I've left the tc attached to the engine for today - thanks for the link, I'll make sure I remove the bolts to the tc correctly and then follow the above steps for refitting for the oil seal. Thanks! -

Got it out and got the box separated, now on to the torque converter - are they always bolted to the flywheel? -
Engine Removal, will the auto box clear the crossmember?
Shortacus replied to Shortacus's topic in mkiv Technical
Thanks for the quick reply mate, it's all good to go bar this, box is supported on a jack, bumper, rad the lot has been removed. Thought I only had the two engine mounts to go till I had second thoughts on the crossmember. Ill get it supported and disconnect the mounts, hopefully be back with good news in an hour or so! -
Hi all, Just about to pull the engine and box out of my supra, spun a bearing and going to rebuild the engine. I've read most of the threads on here on removing the beast and so far I reckon I'm good to go. Syvecs ecu piggy back was a nightmare as I have now had to remove the harness from the engine rather than through the bulkhead. Ill hopefully get a write up of it posted when done incase it helps anyone in future... So my question I need help with is, will the auto box clear the crossmember or do I need to remove this? I have a bolt rounded on it and for the life of me I can't get it out. I'd need to drop the wishbones to get in at the other bolts I'm sure? I can't see anyone in any other thread so far saying to remove it or not to remove it. Any help is appropriated, thanks Ross

With mine being red, very loud and the big wing it was a given , I actually think the supra very closely resembles the McQueen shape also. I never considered the magnetic type stickers , this could be a good shout for both preserving the supra's look for me and the easiness of removing them before and after the event for insurance etc - possibility of scratching the paint if not very clean before applying tho ?

I'll have a look for that mate , it would be good to try understand the experience the people that I would most like to benefit from this have been through - I have a cousin who has very severe autism and my nephew talked about above who has a milder form. Seeing how sensory items made them very happy and content was amazing to witness and be part of. Thanks Ian , I'll certainly check them out - I'd like to take the car to events like this and have it talk to the kids and be quite an Interactive experience for them.

Hi all, Long post here with a lot of background fluff but one I believe could impact on a lot of people's life's and I'd like your input and help, I even believe it could be a great opportunity for the forum to show good community spirit in the long run. I recently attended my nephews birthday party - he is 5 and has autism, on my way down to the party I needed to pick him up a present. I done some background reading and sensory rich toys are game changing when it comes to kids with autism. I picked up a ball that played mad disco music, vibrated and whizzed round in a cage when you pressed a button. He loved it never put the thing down ( bare with me it gets supra related). On top of this was the first time my two brothers and I had got together for a long time, this was the first time they seen I now owned our dream car ( bought a forum car about 3 weeks ago). The cars loud , it's beautiful and looking over it and prepping to do some minor work to fix some small issues had us all like it was our birthday party. (passed mot today with a clean sheet , something special about running a car that's the same age as you!!) Then out came the nephew, I had bought a silly windscreen cover because just before I bought the supra I watched cars 3 ( don't judge its some film ) that is the red Lightning McQueen eyes ( see photos ) this blew his mind. He was so excited to see the car , couldn't believe McQueen was outside his house on his birthday and loved to hear the engine roar ( my brothers and I had no issues with this as we now had the excuse to spend the birthday party out by the supra). Anyway... A few days later the car was parked up on the drive, the house is on a main road that many kids walk along to get to school. I received many texts that week from friends with kids in the school. I left the eyes on in the drive for a good laugh. I was told that I had made the kids morning they were so excited to see the real Lightning McQueen. Now this is were it gets heavy : Getting this car brought me out of a real bad spot, you can't help but be happy and smile when you have the car you always wanted! This all started to come together and with it being the festive time I wanted to give the chance to other people that I had got from the car. I feel if I can get the car resembling the real thing and take it to charity events and visit sick children it could really bring a smile to their face and I feel I owe that to people as I remember what it's like to be in a bad place and the difference that wee things can make! I'm looking for advice, discussions, bouncing ideas off of friends, possible contacts, cost price help from other forum members, donations (skill or parts not financial). Below are some points id like to discuss : Thoughts on the different sticker combinations ? Sticker sourcing and or manufacturing? Wrap? Car external speaker system, how to, best parts etc - I'd like to download a few phrases from the film and when the car is visiting children make it seem as if it's speaking? Bottom grill? - do you think I can paint the mesh type grills to resemble teeth and fit in front of my intercooler? Will stickers damage the paint underneath? Everything I do I want to be able to easily remove , the car is after all my new love and I want to maintain and keep it in great condition I really don't want to turn it into a cheesey advertising wagon. I just want to give back a bit and want to help cheer up kids that have had a hard life with the bonus that both them and me get the joy out of the supra. Financially I'm not in a great spot just now, I couldn't pass on the supra and knew it was a great car and similar spec for similar price would be rare - I'm now running two cars and a bike plus the fine joy of lawyer bills when you fall out with her ( probably the cars ). I'm not looking for any help money wise, however long this takes I will do it bit by bit when I can afford to, that being said if you do have anything you can give to help out ( advice, could make some stickers, could make a wrap, have knowledge of announcement systems) please get in touch. It will be for a good cause. I hope to get the car a bit closer before Christmas and before the snow and salt come make some runs with small gifts to children who could do with a we bit of cheering up at this time. I'll keep this thread updated with photos and hopefully some stories of wee kids enjoying the MKIV Supra as much as us big Kids do ! Thanks for taking the time to read Ross.

I looked at this one mate , phoned the guy as well - looked real nice and standard - plenty of room to do what you want it. Congrats on the buy ! All the best with the car !
-
Did not know that full AA cover provided this... Have you had any issues with them because the age of the car, as a get out I can see them complaining a 24 year old motor whatever goes is wear and tear? Also does this include non standard parts? If so I reckon that's a no brainer and I'll be picking that up

I'll hopefully get some good pics taken at the weekend, work ruined my fun and has made me wait to get out a good drive!

Officially part of the club now , picked up Carnage's Supra on Sunday. Real genuine guy - sorry you had to see her go man. What a drive home that turned out to be , That big ass single turbo takes a while to get familiar with ! Hoping to get the cars small niggles sorted out over the winter. See yous around, Ross

for sale Black - tt - auto - great car.
Shortacus replied to herbiemercman's topic in Supra Classifieds
Hi Herbie , I have been looking for a TT Auto at the moment. At £19950 its far out of my price bracket - to me that would get me my dream TT6 and not have to settle for an auto. I've sent a message through auto trader with an offer that tied in with the prices discussed in this thread. After reading the thread I hope you and the family are well and got everything sorted out and if i dont get the car then someone who will look after it will. All the best . R.
