  1. I shouldnt laugh, but genuine laugh out loud!
  2. Im very sorry to read this, my thoughts and prayers are with you both.
  3. I used to work for another BB company, not NTL, be we both use similar types of network delivery. Phone support and ask to register the MAC address (or HFC MAC ID or USB CPE MAC ID depending if youre using USB or ethernet) of the new ntl:250 you've bought with them (i.e. to replace the MAC address of the NTL 120 they already have for you on your account). It wont work without doing this as when you turn the modem on, the modem MAC address is supposed to be the same as the one they have registered on your account. Once the Cable Modem MAC address is registered, turn the cable modem off. Leave it off for a bit, then boot the PC connected to teh cable modem. Once booted to desktop, boot the cable modem. Make sure that there are no problems by checking the light status on the front of the modem. Hopefully the support guy will sit with you through this, though they may say it will take a few hours. If so, ask them to send a "hit" (P.S. Im unsure if they still do this). If everything is okay on the front of the cable modem (sorry Im not familiar with the front panel of the ntl modems), hopefully windows has already found the network connection automatically. If not, check what your IP address is and reboot modem or windows - one at a time NEVER both together - and check again. Be aware its possible you may be without the internet for a few hours whilst this goes through, or then again it may go really smoothly. One last thing, from what I remember the 1st line support people were not allowed to change the MAC addresses of cable modems as some, well, you just couldnt let them..., only competent managers (who knew how), installation techs who phoned their HQ and 2nd/3rd line line support guys so if they say they cant do it, ask to speak to 2nd line or a manager who is able to do so. When everything is connected and you have a valid IP address again download and run this, but first make sure you have nop P2P running first. Its very good and the output is useful to give to support people as it will help find if there is a potential problem. You can get it here: http://www.webattack.com/get/bbspeedtest.html BTW do you have a Netgear WGT624? Ive had loads of problems with that as well...

    how funny is this

    Very good find Quality
  5. Sounds like something George W Bush would say in his state of the union address, with regards to Americans going to Iraq.
  6. Personally I would think it would be difficult for the child growing up. If nothing else imagine the abuse the poor lad/girl would get at school when growing up going through the school years.
  7. First time in the snow last night. What a carry on.... Driving home in a heavy snow blizzard which I have never seen anything like, dual carriageway was quite thick was snow and still had people tailgaiting me!! Took a turn off and found myself sliding across country roads when taking a slow bend at less than 20mph, down to 10mph I was fine, until I tried to turn a 90 degree turn to join another road. No traction at all and backend all over the place even at Having said that she was quite predictable when she go out a little, as long as you take it easy and slowly things are fine, if a little worrying now and again!
  8. No Xmas bonus for me this year, or last year. Im working all the way through Xmas and new year until midnight most nights, like I did last year. Nope, the thanks we get for this commitment is that we've been told our department is under review and to prepare ourselves for the worst as its likely we may be made redundant in early Feb! I must say its making going in there over Xmas all the more difficult and a little pointless
  9. Matt and his crew are excellent. I cant recommend them enough. I had my car taken to them (Im in Liverpool, they are in Kent ) before I took delivery of it when I first had the car over from Japan based on reputation and its been money well spent. They did a full ICE install that sounds ace, a Clifford 950 install with intellistart (which Ive had zero problems with), plus the RLTC install over 12 months ago which has also been faultless. Superb, what more can I say?
  10. Okay now, changed the "CIG 15A" fuse and all is now working
  11. Hi all I seem to having a problem with the heater/air con - in that it doesnt work. The dash button backlights are fine (and come on when the lights are turned on) but the functionality is not there, nor are the green lights/LED's to show what is selected on the heater panel. Ive had the dash off today, and it was fine beforehand, though it appears to be since I put it back together. I did have a load of blown fuses which Ive now replaced. Following on from this Ive checked the two fuses, one in the drivers kickwell, a 7.5A one which is okay and the one under the bonnet which is also okay. Also from this thread -http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=29298&highlight=heater - Ive had the dash off umpteen times today to check the two connections at the back going into the dash are properly connected, and also checked that the multiplugs going into the "brain" are connected. The only thing I havent/cant check is the relay in the fuse box under the bonnet? SO I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what it may be? Are there any other fuses Ive missed, or do you reckon its likely to be the relay blown? Thanks for any help all Paul.
  12. Off tomorrow and Tuesday, though in my defense Ive worked most of last week and all this weekend. Feel for you all though, last sunday I was like you all are feeling now
  13. Only just read this now CG, absolutely gobsmacked at that. Im glad your okay, it could have been much, much worse. The scary thing is it doesnt matter how careful you are, its other drivers that are the bugbear. Hope you get sorted out mate.

    Xbox 360?

Id be interested in this too. Whats the deal with voltage etc with us having 220V over here?
  15. Yuk. What a completely shit set of circumstances. Im a bit late, but sorry to read of all this Jake, its the last bloody thing you need. Hope it gets sorted soon mate.
  16. Well, even if it is/was legit, then given the reaction here from everyone Id hardly expect him to reply. What could he say?
  17. Must admit I laughed out loud when the original poster told us what his mate had, how much it was, and who it was for (him)!!!! FFS mate, it wasnt even in Members Only
  18. Hi Paul, Do you have any Miami-GT Dials Repalcements Kits left at all mate?
  19. Im not sure mate. Im going past where its been dumped in an hour or so (bloody work!!) so Ill see if its still there. Not that that will help me deduct whats happened lol... Anyway, they came out this afternoon, about 2 hours after it happened and took some notes from me, gave them a description of what I could see etc, and he said CID will be in touch to arrange giving a written statement. It really scares me though that people have been past eyeing the contents of house garages up round here. I mean its not as if this fella lets his son out on the bike in the road - I didnt even know he had one, so theyve either followed them back or they know he does trial biking and found his house. Scary. The scallies/chavs are getting very cheeky, and blatantly not arsed about the conseuqences these days. I can see why most people would champion violence as this is the only language they understand.
  20. No, please dont mate. I think thats everyones first reaction to be honest, go out and kick their heads in. Its the fact it was so close, they wouldve seen me coming out, and I have got a nice Supra. Aside from any other considerations that wouldnt have lasted long if Id have gone out on the bounce Ah shit!!!!!! Pig, Im sorry mate. Bit on the defensive still for the reasons above
  21. No!!!! No!! No!!! Sorry Jake, I thought Pig was having a go at me for not running out and kicking off, so I replied a bit defensively explaining why I only called the police. I think Ive replied in that tone to Pig as I do feel a bit guilty, as inside myself I kinda wish I did run out and stop them, and as a prev poster said he would have had his bike tonight, but mate, I really didnt think that was a wise move. The fear of retribution to my property (we have 2 cars parked on the road) did put me off somewhat. This was a more prevalant concern than the numbers of them to be honest (lol oh no, now I sound like an internet hard man ).
  22. Thanks mate. I can understand how it looks like a shitbag approach, but I dont want to be permanantly worried about our property wellbeing, which is what I would have been doing if I had confronted them. Ive learnt the hard way that running full on into a situation isnt always the best way to deal with it.
  23. Really? Apparently the police didnt catch them (they must have driven past them as they were really quick to respond) so at 4:15 today when the police came out to get a statement they didnt have anyone. I hope this means theyve found them since then.
  24. Well, we dont speak. We never have. So Im not sure he cares anyway. And Im certainly not going to bring shit to my door for someone who's never said a word to me. Its also a little difficult to call the police and kick off on someone at the same time. But think the situation through. Do you fail to grasp what the consequences of running out full steam would be? Its not the fact I would have got my head kicked in that that worried me, though that would probably have happened. They were "tooled up" as they were able to force a garage door open. But I may have scared them off you say? Perhaps, but more importantly its the fact they would have been back tonight or any other night, with tools to get revenge on my house, and me and my cars (we have 3, so easy target) for fucking up their robbery. I refer you to paragraph one of this post as to why I didnt want this. I also cant afford to get into any more violence related trouble with the police due to a few things last year. Im not putting my head, and that of my fiancee on the line for the same reason as above. We plan to emmigrate at somepoint so a police investigation into assault wouldnt have been ideal preparation. But I love sarcastic replies like yours, insinuating that you would have ran out giving it the big "I am". Never let the facts get in the way of a good pisstake eh?
