Some might call it poetic justice......

I hope it is a mistake! Thats too bloody cheap! Also, found this on a Mitsu FTO list, one of the guys found it on autotrader which is very cheap for a UK spec - unsure of the mileage as its not listed: 1996 TOYOTA SUPRA TWIN TURBO N reg. UK-Car, Diamond White, full heated Black leather, 6-speed, 18in split rims, FSH, T&T, CD-changer, cruise, traction, alarm, superb inside&out, bargain, p/x possible. £10,250 . o.n.o. > Tel: (01664) ****** > Distance: 72 miles (from Oldham) > Price: £ 10,250 ono.

If you dont mind me asking, who are you with Paul? I need to get insured with 0 NCB and asking them to add mods is killing the quote!
-
It certainly *appears* better than Optimax in my somewhat lower spec (ahem) Rover coupe which admittedly seems to love it, as does my birds FTO. Just that there appears to be more power and "ooomph" when you put your foot down. But then, they arent exactly Supra's are they

Now, Im not saying that its a good idea to take your car to a main dealer..... so please dont misunderstand this post. Im almost certain that Ill be taking mine to CW when I get her finally. However... I do empathise with Pauls comments and reasoning. Its all very well coming on here and calling him a mug etc... Butto the un-initiated a FTSH would be great to a potential buyer who knew no better. Remember, not everyone is privvy to the information that we are on this BBS. We are lucky in that we have lots of excellent mechanics that frequent this board, and have dealt with dealerships before. This is a side to a dealership that I had heard rumoured before, though never actually had anyone back it up. By "knew no better" I mean someone who would think that a FTSH means that the car has been taken care of, has been stampted and the ownder has payed a lot of money to keep the book stamped up to date. Not everyone is aware of horror stories. Say for example he sold his car on autotrader, then it is highly unlikely that the buyer would be a BBS reader who has read Dude/Termys comments about dealership servicing (which obviously puts people off!), or Peter's debacle that happened last year. Unless you work in the trade, or have friends that do so, or are an enthusiast (which not ALL supe owners are) then I would think that by an large, most people, when buying privately would think a FTSH would be a good thing, maybe even give more credence to a FTSH than one from a "motorsport" garage (as they have "heard of toyota" but not of the other place! Most people IMO = the uninitiated; people who know nothing of these fuckups, and are unaware that the mkiv wasnt sold in many lexus garages, and think "well, its top of the range so they MUST know what theyre doing". Obviously they dont, but how is any potential buyer supposed to know that? Hence they will go with a FTSH unless they know any better. Its only after reading horror stories such as this and Peter's story that you would realise that "OMFG no its not a good idea". But I agree with Paul L in that to the un-initiated lamen (lemon only joking), a FTSH is a good thing IN THAT RESPECT if they are buying. If it doesnt have a FTSH then a service history is useful of course, but I think most people generally think that dealership service historys are something to look for. But dont confuse what I would do myself - I wouldnt take my P & J to Toyota, largely because of price alone; and of course because I dont want some 18 y/o cunt ragging the arse out of my car! And thats before even going into the state of the work! But I can see the reasoning behind WHY Paul wants to take his car there.... I hope you get it sorted soon mate.

ROTFLWTIME !!!!!! Get onto the serious look the owner gives the camera in one of the bottom shots. And he's wearing a suit as well which makes it even more laughable! - you think he's be wearing some Rebel "fatigues" or summat. "Rebel scum" lol.....

LOL, hehehe I was waiting for that Unfortunately, mine were taken off me when I was caught, the bastards Nar seriously, its a stock aerial, and its in my other car, a Rover 220 (I know, I know LOL - the supe is in Japan awaiting shipment) though Im guessing these sort of interferece probs would be kind of generic. i.e. bad earth, poor install etc. Not to worry, just booked her in for a week on Weds, looks like a full re-wire is needed IMHO. I pulled the fuse out of the amp, and the interference dropped considerably. Also, due to the fact that the install looks dodgy - touching certain wires alters sound and interference levels - and moving wires at the back of the stereo (just pushing them) causes me to lose MW totally. I cant believe I havent acted on this before, though TBH there has always been some sort of problem (head gasket replaced, new gearbox) with the bloody car so Ive never really had the spare cash to do anything about it! Fuppers. Thanks for the suggestions guys, any more would be greatly appreciated, but no worries if not

Okay, just been out to check again. Just for reference, the model is a Sony CDX-M670. It does appear to be in a cage of some description, I think I can feel it from the back. It has two tabs at either side that appear to want to be pulled/pushed in, in order to move it. The small red circles on the piccy are where the tabs are located: http://www.footylist.myby.co.uk/Product_98422.jpg Ill try to take a better piccy if I can find batteries for the digicam and a USB lead to connect it to the PC!
-
Erk, further to this the numbskull who fitted it appears to have taken the removal tool, and the install sheet. Absolute genius. I dont suppose anyone knows anywhere that stock these removal tools do they?

LOL, just about! Its useful for Radio 5 (909 and 693) on a saturday (live football) - especially when in different parts of the country. Also has talksport which has football commentary as well! Anyway, further to this, Ive been out armed with my torch, and found by moving the wires, the reception alters. More worryingly, there appear to be many loose untaped (as in cut with pliers, and wire left bare) wires there. This was an install by Halfrauds for a b'day present for me from my fiancee around 2 years ago. Cost her £50! You wouldnt think so looking at the state of the wiring.

Bloody hell guys! I hope the J-specs arent poo, Ive just put 10k down on a 1997 TT 15k car and will be gutted if its as poor as is made out Nar, seriously though, I think both cars have their good and bad points. I actually went for a J-spec as there was more for the money, greater availablility, lower mileage and GENERALLY (in the ones I saw only, this isnt to say anyone else's is poo!) better looked after. That, however, is only what I have seen. Personally I would trust a Japenese dealer before a UK one. That is my opinion though! Of course, UK's have steel blades whereas J-specs have ceramics. Must admit Im worried about mine going even on stock boost, and I havent got the bloody thing yet LOL!!! The trade-off is (generally) higher insurance (for me), poorer brakes in comparison allegedly (hey, thats what brembo's are for :-) and a rougher ride, and no bonnet scoop (v.nice). Can be sorted with money, as can anything UK or Jap. Even plonkling new pads on the j-spec is reported to help (I dunno, just what Ive read). Not too bothered about power myself, or how the turbos would handle more boost, Im happy to ponce around in her to get the feel for handling before I do anything (1 year lol) then when I have money I can start upgrading IF I want to, but Im happy with the way it is! Each to their own opinion IMHO - I would have been just as happy with a low mileage UK model, as I am with my low mileage J-spec Thouhg I guess the bottom line is it depends what you use it for, what you expect out of it, and how much youre prepared to spend doing it.

Hey guys... Just wondering if you could give a bit of advice if poss. Im having awful interference problems using MW (medium wave) on my radio... as in I can barely pick up anything at all, just interference. Almost sounds the same as when in LW when not tuned into a station. Curiously FM is fine (unless you put the heated rear windscreen on), though (try to) listen to MW and you can barely make out a conversation due to the interference. Also, if I hit a bump, it can either worsen/improve reception on MW - though admittedly not by much. Has anyone had any similar issues, or is there anything blatantly obvious that I should look for.. i.e. a bad earth... or is it a case of take it to an auto electrician and hope? Thanks for any help Paul.
-
I had the same happen to me on my old car. Tried the socket way to no avail (probably my poor technique lol), so had to get a garage to "drill" it out instead. Charged 20 quid IIRC.... PITA though. Its made me a little more vigilant about where the locking wheel nut is kept nowadays though.

OMFG!!! I was under the impression that Chris was based waaay down south! In fact he is only 51.8miles away from me! Reeeeesult!! At least I know I can get to someone who I can trust, and is well trusted, up this end of the country. Im loathe to let anyone local touch it (when she comes)!

(threadhijack) Sorry about the thread hijack all - further to my last post, go over here: http://www.lancerregister.com/ Go to the forum, (youll need to create an account) and do a search for Malik. There should be 5 threads that come back with a hit. Youll see what I mean when you read them and draw your own conclusions (/threadhijack)

Xantim, Seriously mate, Id be careful before you deal with this guy. Here is a reply I got back from Veilside USA when I mailed them to ask about his authenticity when all the siht was going on last year: "Thank you for the information, we have forwarded this information to our legal department. Unfortunately we do not have any legal representation in Europe, so it may be difficult to control. You may want to speak with your trade governing board to report fraud, as we have heard numerous horror stories about this individual. Regards, VeilSide USA 1250 East 223rd Street, Suite 105 Carson, CA 90745 T.310.835.5684 F.310.835.5682 http://www.veilside.com" Forewarned is forearmed mate. I have his real name and mobile (which is actually still connected lol) should you need it though BTW I dont know this guy, but anyone trading under somebody else's business name without their knowledge cant be good.

Gaz, er, I think it may be me I tried doing the same again, adding to basket, then clicking confirm, on clicking "OK" on the pop up box, the site stopped responding again. Erk, sorry if it is me :-/ Failing the site working, what times are you open (i.e. are you available on Sunday via the 0870 number) or would I be best waiting till monday? Thanks mate
-
erk.. wasnt me guv, honest! Its timing out to this error at the moment: "Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. JRun closed connection."
-
Guys, can you get the site now? Im not sure if its my ISP's routing to blame now as it appears to have died again. Strangely enough, it stopped working just now after I added an item to my basket, then clicked the "Confirm" button. This was exactly what happened before (this afternoon) when it stopped working as well! May be a coincidence, but thought Id best mention it all the same
-
Exchullente Working here too now! "Monseiur with this resolving site you are really spoiling us"

1. I found Admiral (1390) and Lancaster Insurance Services (1304) to be the best for me on a 1997 RZ-S import, with 18" wheels declared. Im 27 with zero NCB as Ive been a named driver for the last few years.
-
Gaz, youre site appears to be down at the mo mate. Getting "connection timed out" when waiting to resolve the page.
-
Jesus mate, absolutely gutted for you - I know how much that meant to you. Glad your okay, and hope insurance etc works out for you mate. Gutted.

Thanks John, if the truth be known, then no Im not used to RWD cars at all as Ive never owned one. Reckon Id be best with another one now... with standard setup etc. There is a royal sapphire blue (sorry guys who have already got this!!) with 38k with a few mods - looks like a better idea for a first Supe? "Blue-Metallic RZ 6 Speed Twin Turbo: 60000KM (37500 miles), ABS, LSD, PAS, Aircon, E/W, E/M, leather rear seats, cloth RZ front seats, 18 inch AVS alloys, Abflug bonnet, Top Secret nose and side skirts, aftermarket exhaust, roll cage, aftermarket suspension, dumpvalve. All in price £14050 (incl. your bits)" Ill keep looking anyway. Thanks again everyone for all your help and input!
