  1. Not sure how much use this will be but... Give a solicitor a call and ask him where you stand regarding this - their advice is generally free - call his bluff if that is his attitude. You may initially need to get an independent mechanic to give you a price on tow bar removal, and more importantly, the approximate time spent doing it. given there are only a few bolts to remove following bumper removal I dont think it will be very long. Also, get another seperate independent mechanic to give you a price on a check-up - again the time spent is important. This will give you an idea as to whether they have overcharged for a service, and whether you have any legal comeback. If it was me, and we were talking that amount of money, and I had had the ignorance of having a phone slammed down on me, then Id be biting my lip not to retaliate physically to be honest mate. It would be interesting to see if he had that sort of bravado to someones face. I hate reading stories like this - local garage did the CV boot for me, didnt put thte caliper back on properly (so it scored the disc) and didnt put circlip on the CV boot (so grease went everywhere). Fucking cunts didnt even offer to replace the discs but I think Ive lost them more business by circulating how crap/useless they were. Still winds me up now.......
  2. Stupid question, but have the police been informed of this? If so, then why arent they keeping an eye on the yards?
  3. Ive just taken out insurance on a J-spec 1997 Supra with Norwich Union. I have 0 years NCB (as was named driver) and have declared alloys (at an extra £221 FFS) BUT they dont add a premium on for RLTC which is nice. Total £2791 FFS FFS FFS FFS!!! Sometihng to watch out for is that their online quote facility didnt have the option to add mods, but when I recieved the certificate through the post mods where stated as "None". Still, after some of the guys experience here its probably best to declare everything
  4. Got my insurance with Norwich Union Direct yesterday. I have 0 years NCB (I lost NCB due to not having my own policy for three running years - during this time since I was a named driver). £2500 (erk) for 10000 miles/year on a 1997 Supra. Footman James are the only ones who come close with £1600 for a restricted 4500 miles/year. Their (NUD) online quote system is pretty good, and I didnt have to declare ANY mods whatsoever. So that puts me in a nice position should I want to get a single in the future... I hope....
  5. Whats the opinion on Meguiars? Ive always gone for that as of late. Even the car wash shampoo leaves it looking gleaming, then use "Gold Class Wax" as the wax. Im unsure if Halfords are stocking this however.... EDIT - also used Mer which you can apply in sunlight - very good but IMHO I prefer Meguiars.
  6. "If the Odo is displaying 100,000 Kms...change it to 62,140 miles" That WOULD be useful and something Id definitely look at in the future. Gaz, is it case of a PM or can you post his details here?
  7. Unfortunately Im not sure of any local to you (or me for that matter). I havent got a Supra yet (still on ship) but heard nothing but good things from people whove taken their cars to Chris Wilson. Im planning to take mine there for a health check if and when mine finally docks! He's based in Shropshire which isnt a million miles from you depending on the route. People have made 400+ mile round trips there from around the country so that should say it all really! Details are (from sig): Chris Wilson. Race and performance road car servicing/preparation in north Shropshire. Home / Work : 01948-841581 Mobile: 07971-952084 Please use direct e-mail, rather than PM's, thanks! [email protected] No doubt someone else will be able to better inform you if there are any other reputable guys more local to you!
  8. Hi all, Sorry if this is a repost or if you have seen this before, but came across a site that compares all the petrol prices in your region and shows you the cheapest. http://www.aapetrolbusters.com You have to register, though I did find it useful to see who offered the cheapest out of them all.
  9. Yikes! 201.6mph!! Congratualations, and very well done guys.
  10. Hmmm, I wonder how well protected their site/webserver its running on is Time for an nMap methinks
  11. Id imagine that price to rise... its £8500 at the moment, however the reserve still hasnt been met. Nice car though.
  12. Jeeeeeeeezuz, that "ohopkins" is one fat, ugly foooking minger isnt she...? What a promotion for contraceptives.....
  13. Try this mate - I lifted from bits from http://www.computercops.biz/postitle27690-0-0-.html . Its pretty thorough : - SpyBot Search and Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors - Make sure you update the definitions when its installed though! - HijackThis - http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe - Run an online virus scan at Panda Active Scan - Next, download the latest version of CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom, the creator of Hijack This. http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe Run it, press 'Fix', and allow it to fix all it finds. - Now download Ad-Aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ After installing AAW, and before running the program, you NEED to FIRST update the reference file following these instructions. Now do the following: - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine: check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning." - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot." Press "Scan Now" - Check option "Use Custom scanning options" - Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan" - Press "Select drives\folders to scan" - Select the active partition which is usually C: Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives... It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again Right-click in that pane and choose "select all" If it finds "bad" files and registry keys, press "Next" again It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. If it says theere are none selected, select them ALL by putting ticks into the boxes - Click OK. Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot. That ought to get rid of most of your spyware. When you've done all that, re-run Hijack This. Let us know if there are any problems.
  14. Stealthhosts.... Is that on a UK Supra or a J-spec? Cheapest Ive got is £1644 with 4500 restricted miles from Footman James. If my car was a month older (i.e. a 1996 model) it would have been £1400 with 0 NCB with 18" Veilside Alloys decalred from Admiral. As soon as they found out it was a 1997 car it shot up to £3000!!! Nice.
  15. LMAO.. *Very* impressive engine bay though Supraguy.... Back onto topic; doesnt Paul E/Dude do the Veilside nose copies at http://www.miami-rice.com ? I know one guy who had one fitted and was very happy with it indeed.
  16. Im unsure about the suspension and ride, Im still waiting for mine at the moment! But as far as the tail rattle goes, have a look at this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3493&highlight=boot+rattle
  17. Check this one out too; restrictions on post-97 cars.... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19229
  18. "Are all TT Supras made after Jan 1997 VVT-i?" Nope, Im getting a facelift non VVTi manufactured in Jan 1997. I think the VVTis started around 6-8 months later. Re importing a VVTi, you can.... but if it is manufactured after 31.12.96 it has to have a model report. These can cost a fair bit, though I believe there are some for the NASP (correct me???) Supra, but not for the TT. I believe the Skylines have a fair few model reports about at the moment. The problem with model reports, is that the report is good for THAT CAR ONLY. For example, if you imported three supras. Two were standard, no mods at all. They would be fine providing you had a model report you can present the testers of untouched, standard TT supras. However, if the third one had an aftermarket nose and alloys, then the model report could NOT be used for that as it has two mods from the manufacturers original specification. Therefore, a new model report must be done, using the same spec car, with the same wheels and nose. Once done, that model report is only good for a car with the exact same altered nose and wheels! Not cost effective for importers to get one done for EVERY different "flavour" of Supra! Therefore, if you can find a model report on a standard VVTi then you should be okay, providing the car you want to bring through conforms to the exact same specification as the one on the model report. AFAIK, "bigger" importers are able to get these done and "rent" them out for ESVA tests, but as I wrote earlier, I am unsure exacly what model reports have been done for the Supra. If you want my advice, Id go for a 96 supra (pre 97 anyway) as AFAIK these dont have to go through the ESVA and you can buy them already modded them up (though I stand to be corrected here) Another reason to go for an earlier one: e.g. Insurance on a 93-96 Supra through Admiral - £1390 e.g. Insurance on a 97 Supra (car now purchased) through Admiral - £2900 Same policy, I just asked them to change date of vehicle... some change huh? I have 0 NCB, but I had that on the 93-96 Supe as well! Im getting mine imported at the mo, and have been informed that even if we did manage to get Post 97 Supra's through, under the new tests etc. they would fail on emissions anyway... (dont shoot me, just what I was told by my importer), so its prolly best to go for one of them, unless you can find someone over here with a VVTi willing to sell, or unlesss you know someone who can get hold of/carry out/lend you a model report. I stand to be corrected here, though that is the way I understand it!
  19. Kinell! Thats some work involved there Dude, nice work indeed! Congratulations mate, it looks brand new!
  20. Hi all, Ive always been of the opinion that restricted mileage didnt really affect the quote much, and most places (the online quotes anyway) dont seem to make much of a discount. Well, Ive just had a phone call from Footman James in response to an email I sent them. Basically, I have 0 years NCB (named driver for 5 years), but 3 years between 96-99 (dont count as didnt carry the NCB on). Anyway, most quotes Ive been getting have been over £5000, with the cheapest being norwich union direct at £2500. Im 27 years old, have 0 points, and had one prang with some (unt in 2002. The car being insured (still being shipped!!) is a 1997 RZ-S Twin Turbo Supra. Anyway, they said if they restricted my mileage, and offered a 1 year introductory bonus, plus had a letter from the policy holder that I have been a named driver for confirming I was on their policy, they could get my quote down SUBSTANTIALLY. Heres the nitty gritty: 10000 miles/year - over £5000 6000 miles/year - £2500 4500 miles/year - £1604 (!!!) This has saved me nearly £1k on my last best quote, of £2500 with a £1420 excess! I know this wont affect most of you, but for the people who havent got an awful lot of NCB it may
  21. LOL!!!! I agree Geoff, as a new owner that paid a lot more (double) than that, I would hope they would be a bit more expensive as it makes me feel a bit better But as a buyer, the lower the better
