No, not me! Im posting this on behalf of a mate on another board as I figure some of you guys are far more savvy with engines and the effect the wrong fuel could have than I! A mate of a mate, who's normally very sensible and has just accidentally put £30 of unleaded in his Audi A4 turbo diesel. He drove it home (0.75 miles) with no problem but is now trying to work out what to do. Ideally he needs to drain the tank completely and then fill with Diesel ... But at the house he's at (his G/F's) he doesn't have any ramps, tools, etc... and is wondering if he could just ram it to the brim with diesel (getting it about 40:60 diesel:petrol) and then keep topping it up. Googling seems to bring up a load of opinions from "15% petrol in diesel is a normal thing to do in winter" ... To "one drop of petrol in there and your cat, seals, tank, everything, is screwed". Does anyone have any geniune knowledge on this? Im thinking he may get away with a 20% mix???????? Thanks for any pointers or help peeps

Does that say "Greedy Racing" instead of "Greddy" on the number plate?

Thanks very much for the kind words guys. All I can say is "wow". Definitely worth the wait! LOL @ CJ!! Matt - no worries mate, you guys deserve it, Im gobsmacked! Kopite - The M62? Moi? hehehe Jake - she's a manual and to be honest I cant believe its taken this long either, but I joined last year initially to get information prior to a purchase, then went for one in Jan. Been waiting ever since, but its worth it! Still beaming today, woke up and couldnt beleive it actually sitting outside my house. Pete - Im still paranoid as hell about the plague (bizzies), have got a Snooper to fit still so that may help a wee bit, but dont really want to get into that position TBH, cheers for the heads-up though mate eldudereno - She was just under 15k all in; I know I paid probably a bit more than I should, but the car is in essence more or less perfect (well, Ive yet to find any major probs!) and at least I know by paying top dollar Im getting a decent example. We did discuss about going for a BPU'd example, e.g. I had a T04r offered to me, though after discussions with Julian and PM's from board members (Alex H - thanks m8) I decided best not to do so, especially for my first. As such went for a standard example with nice wheels that I can do subtle mods to myself. Now just itching to get out of work to drive her again! I know its getting repetitive me saying this, but thanks for the comments guys

Thanks guys I must admit theres been times where Ive questioned my sanity by waiting so long, but its been worth it. Problem is Im paranoid as hell about her now

Well, after nearly 9 months of waiting my Supra is finally here. She is a 1997 RZ-S Twin Turbo I am so unbelievably happy at the moment, I dont really think I can put it into words; I think Im in love. I drove until 3am around the motorways last night, I just didnt want to stop! I could not believe how easy she felt to drive (okay I had the RLTC on "wet" lol) and the pull is un-be-fucking-lievable. Absolutely made up! My importer - Julian of Japanese Direct Imports has been quality over the last few months. We had problems getting her over as the ship she was on broke down and had to towed back to port, and she was delayed for nearly two months as that created a large backlog at which we were at the bottom. Nevertheless he was most helpful at a very worrying time, to the point of arranging alternative transport that wouldve seen him out of pocket. A nice gesture I thought. Thankully it didnt come to that though. Nice guy, and very helpful; highly recommended IMHO Also need to say a massive THANK YOU to Matt Harwood, Mark Curd and all the guys at Sextons for doing much electrical work on the car before I picked her up. The quality of the work is absolutely superb. I asked for A LOT to be done, and not once did they give the impression that I was a PITA despite phone calls and long emails. The fact Im in the north west and they are in Kent couldve meant they just got the car out the way quickly and shirked on jobs but not so. The reason I wanted it to go there was because of their excellent repuatation and this has just gone to show why. Absolutely brilliant. For one example, I had RLTC fitted, and they made the RLTC switch flush in the dashboard. They couldve just left it free, but didnt! Its the little things like that you notice! Then there is the headunit, speakers and sub, all top notch work. A special thank you must go to Matt Harwood though, as he gave me loads of advice on speakers/amps/subs etc, to which I am a total numpty, plus responding to my incessent emails when frankly he didnt have to bother. Thank you Matt. Anyway, I know this thread is worthless without pictures, so here they are. http://www.1myby1.myby.co.uk/supra/ And my fave at the moment: http://www.1myby1.myby.co.uk/supra/images/DSC00272_JPG.jpg WOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!

My finacee was with Tesco, and sadly had an accident and the car (an FTO) was a write off. They offered a derisory amount for it to be repalced (£6600 - it was bought for £8500 two months earlier) and then took even more money off her from the payout amount (however I cant recall why off the top of my head). They were "okay", but thats just our experience with them, and it was 2 years ago. Subsequent insurance quotes from them skyrocketed into the £4000 mark. Churchill are our current undewriter on a policy we have with Budget, and we have had to use them to get the car repaired as I had a smash the other week. Took a week to get the car in for repair and a courtesy car (which someone ploughed into on Tuesday, but thats another story!!). which I thought was very good going. Most helpful too. I know this probably isnt much help but thats the expieriences we've had with both groups.

Hopefully they're dead.... scum. It makes me sick to read comments like this, I cant believe people dont teach their kids respect thesedays. I was always brought up to respect other peoples property and belongings. A healthy "fear" of repercusions (sp?) from my dad always saw me keep to the straight and narrow. Some of these kids need a very bad hiding. If I caught my kids on anyones car, no matter how new or old it was, Id quite literally send them into orbit. Theyd be crying for weeks....... Unbelievable....

Weird.... I had a crash in my (dont laugh!!) rover coupe on Friday 13th as well..... Freaky.. Glad to hear you are okay though Mig, my head was battered enough on Saturday morning, and a rover coupe doesnt really compare to an M3. Glad you're okay though mate, thats the main thing.

Gutted to read this mate.. and people wonder why I want an air rifle.... snipe the bastards. I think we should take a mix of the way the arabs deal with it, and Geoff's idea.... we should kick them, then cut their balls off. Some might call it poetic justice!
-
Absolutely brillaint news mate, made up for you. But LMFAO!! Youve got yours a lot earlier than Ive got mine, and I bought mine ages ago! Work that out.... Oh the irony... Anyways, we'll have to go to a meet at some point together when I get mine, should just be a matter of weeks now. Great news mate Now get out instead of reading this BBS and enjoy the sun in your new baby!!

Great news Ashley, good to see you back on the road!

Thats great, thanks for your help everyone! Doh! I cant remember exactly where I got that picture from, Ill have a look round tonight to see if I can pinpoint it. That car is beautiful! Must say they looked very impressive on Jake's car too. Think I might just go for them then....! Thanks again guys P.

Hi all! Been looking at getting some side skirts for my new car, and think Ive finally settled on some. Theyre these: http://www.1myby1.myby.co.uk/Sideskirts.jpg Unfortunately I cant tell what they are! On the site I got the piccy from it says they're Veilside. However, having seen Dude's they arent anything like them. The Veilside's appear to have a "twist" design, though these are straight through. They look a wee bit like Bomex ones,or even Top Secret, maybe they are actually Veilside's (older design?) after all????? But obviously I want to be sure what Im getting before I order them! Anyone any ideas? Thanks for any help

Thanks for the advice guys. Ive cancelled the install and am now going somewhere where I know is good and reputable, and who will be a wee bit more upfront. Many thanks for your help

Hi guys, Im getting a Clifford IntelliGuard 950 plus remote start fitted to my new supra shortly. Ive asked for a turbo timer, though the place that's fitting it advise that it isnt a clifford unit. They advise the turbo timer is a relay they will contruct (for £50), and not an actual device (which is circa £100)? The theroy is that I just activate it when I get out of the car, and after a minute the enigne will stop as it should. My question is, is this a reilable way to go instead of buying an actual unit (like a blitz?). The only thing that worries me is that if the relay fails, it will be a pig to replace, though if a seperate turbo timer device fails it should just be a case of unplugging the old fromt the ACC Out and replacing it with a new! But hey, Im no expert in this and that suggested way may be the correct way of going about things! Im really a bit lost here, I havent even got my Supra yet so Im unsure of connections and electrical wiring etc (Im blind as far as this goes!), so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated Paul.

OMFG... Im so sorry to read this China. I really hope that you get sorted back asap, really sickens me reading threads like this. I cant imagine how you feel. The fact you say she went at 30mph worries me too, as I pick my supe up in a fortnight and am already very wary of how this "new car" will feel and control etc. Really hope that your okay and get cleared in A&E, and back on the road sooner rather than later mate. So sorry to read this... P.

Justin, "Ski" posted this useful info the other month regarding what course of action to take next. I tihnk dangerous_brain has suggested something similar, but thought best paste it all the same. The orginal thread is here. Some of it is regarding getting the car repaired but gives advice on how to deal with it legally. Just wondering if you can get a solicitor to deal with your claim on your behalf to negotiate a better price for you: "Simple answer.... Never ever deal with your own insurance company if it's not your fault... EVER, I wouldn’t even tell them, it effects your renewal even if you protect your no claims dude! Get a private solicitor, close your claim with whichever asshole your insured with and get your solicitor to manage the costs. Do this immediately, regardless of what point you are along the process, and don’t EVER accept their authorised repair agents, if it’s not your fault, you choose the mechanic (may I suggest C.W he is the business, get your solicitor to arrange it all) You also get YOUR OWN engineer (of course) to assess the costs, you get it fixed your way, not most economical repair… Some asswhipe hit me up the ass the other day.. I went private, my insurance company were gutted when I told them to close the claim, only cos’ (ignore my paranoia) they all work together and agree repair costs at the cheapest shitest level. (sorry if I sound bitter, call it experience of being ripped of by the bastards) Now I’m getting the full monty off the other guys policy…. Plus a nice little whiplash claim…. Oh ah my neck hurts, insurance is legalised extortion, don’t let the maggots do you man… See a private brief and get them to sort you out!!!! My car will look better after the repair, not worse as is usually the case, go private and you have less worries. SKI" and " Yeah, you may have to inform the parasites, that doesn't meen you have let them arrange the repairs for you (and would be stupid if you did, most Toyota garages don't understand Supes, afterall their mechanics may not have seen one for a good few years), that's when it comes in useful to know a good mechanic, body shop and solicitor to sort it all out for you, like I said, I told Tesco what had happened, and then organised all the repairs directly, they tried to talk me out of doing that, even to the point of getting a bit shirty, clearly it's not in the interests of their "most economical repair bullshit policy" if the customer does it that way!!!!! Obviously you cant use this approach if it's your fault or the third party in uninsured. " SKI

Nice garage.... one to avoid eh? Not sure tbh, did they state it was a non-refundable deposit at the time? Ive just found this in the CAB (citizens advice bureau) website.... but it may be worth you calling the CAB to clarify your position with someone on the phone. Deposits If you put a deposit on a vehicle and later decide not to buy it, you will not be able to get the money back unless the seller agreed that the deposit was returnable if you changed your mind, for example, after having an independent inspection done.cel a contract to buy a second hand car from a dealer, see Secondhand cars, in Consumer Fact Sheets . However if he didnt mention it wasnt refundable you may have something to go on. If they refuse you could also advise that you will likely lose them a lot of business by naming and shaming them on the various import boards - repuations count for a lot generally. However being very careful not to be derogatory, just state the facts (as you did above!) and let people draw their own conclusions. Just thinking: can you tell them that you will go ahead with the purchase SUBJECT TO INSPECTION , then inspect it (leave a few days), and advise you are not happy with the inspection (tyres for e.g.?) and as such want your deposit back. Think Dude would do very well based on his showing a few weeks ago....

Does anyone know where I can purchase one of these modules from? My fiancee has an FTO with that alarm, but I dont think it had the module. It would be nice to add it to her alarm if possible, as she is a nurse and often works nights. As such she is petrified of her car getting broken into or worse in the hospital car park. I guess this would help ease the worry a bit.

Thanks for the heads up mate. Ive just purchased one of the S6-R's so Ill keep my eyes out for (a lack of) a warning. Cheers mate

I think thats a great idea. Could we create it in the "members only" section and have a disclaimer stating that, "the views expressed herein are those of the poster and DO NOT IN ANY WAY reflect the views of the site owners, admins or moderators" Also putting it in "members only" will encourage people to join and pay their £10!
