  1. Made some good progress yesterday. As I mentioned in my previous post i went down to clean and polish the engine pipework, which i did initially but ended up helping Scott with my engine instead as I love to be involved in the build! First of all i thought I had better inspect the state of the down pipe as if it was anything like the midpipe that was on the car when i bought it (1st page of this thread) it would need to be replaced. Right enough my suspicion was confirmed, the same horrific workmanship...jeez! I have messaged Tim (TB Developments) for one of his as a replacement. The old one has already been launched in the skip. So on to starting to build up the block First of all the new oil pump was installed, along with front and rear crank seals Next was installing the upper and lower sump pans, as well as the various O-rings and gaskets (oil drain flange etc.). I printed out the workshop manual and put it in a folder a while ago which is handy for quick reference for torque settings etc. Now with the bottom side buttoned up it was time to flip it over and get the ARP head studs in and the new head gasket on. Then it was time to fit the head back on i had to call it a day there as I never realised I was an hour late for picking the mrs up from work...oops haha!
  2. Received a couple of nice pictures of the block after a nice fresh coat of paint, it looks really well. I am going to head down tomorrow to polish the brightwork. The cam covers, plenum, boost pipes etc are looking tatty after sitting so long, and i will take the oppurtunity to polish the turbo heat shield etc while there is easy access. I had to order a a replacement valve collett that had went missing so i called my local Toyota to see how long the lead time would be, pleasantly surprised it was there the next morning! Also picked up a new cover for the stock airbox as mine had a broken clip, at £16+vat i thought it was spot on! I am hoping by end of play tomorrow to have the ARP head studs installed and the new head gasket fitted to mate the block and head back up. I am heading to florida at the weekend for a couple of weeks for the Daytona 500 (I love NASCAR lol) so hopefully when i get back the car should be about finished
  3. Thanks very much mate, and welcome to the forum! I think i used matt black plastic bumper paint over automotive primer, you can pick them up in Halfords. The worst part is removing the original finish to get a smooth prepped surface!
  4. Sounds great mate, I would be up for this! 1. ripped_fear 2. Attero 3. ShawnPreece 4. mattdavies 5. samdale 6. supraleeturbo 7. josesupra 8. mr2kyle 9. day881 10.Cam27
  5. You need to remove the triangular fixings mate. If you undo the end of the belt from the adjuster they will slide off, then you can wrap the belt round the harness bar and back through the adjuster. There is a specific way to do it safely, I have attached a picture of it to make it easier to explain. Hope that helps
  6. Indeed mate. I always hated that clutch anyway, I am glad it's gone! Definitely mate, starting to get the excitement back for the car after being without it for a while now!
  7. Just re-read this from the start and glad to see your perseverance paying off mate. Engine is looking fantastic!
  8. Thanks mate, we will need to get a run in the spring when our cars are back on the road! Although maybe you would be better in the Aero so I can keep up
  9. Collected my head and block today after a slight delay due to the machinist being ill, but it was worth the wait as it looks to be a great job. I think 0.4mm was taken off the block and 0.1mm off the head. Good to have peace of mind that the faces are perfect for the new head gasket. Excuse the swarf and shavings, they were thoroughly cleaned afterwards. This afternoon Scott my mechanic got all the valve stem seals replaced with new oem ones so hopefully now things will start to pick up with getting the car back together. Last year my AC stopped blowing cold, i had the gas re-charged but didn't do much good, so i thought there must be a leak somewhere, i managed to get a snap of the problem today so that will get sorted as well. Also took a look at the old clutch while down visiting my car, no wonder it was slipping on boost!
  10. Glad to see you kept it mate. The intercooler looks great, awesome job!
  11. Hope everything arrives on time for you mate, like Shawn and Ant said fingers crossed! I know how stressfull it can be when things you paid a lot of money for don't show up!
  12. Thanks mate, good point. With the right supporting mods HKS rate the turbo to 730whp, this one may be slightly more than that being a hybrid. I was planning to run it around 600-650 which i think would be easily achievable. Yes there is a connecion on runner 6 for an EGT sensor. The one pictured went with my Syvecs unfortunately, but Whifbitz sell the syvecs inconel EGT sensors for £72
  13. Now that work has started on the car progress has been good. The engine is now out the car and stripped down, everything came apart easily and nothing was seized which is good. There is some slight corrosion on the block and head so they are off to get skimmed to be on the safe side, along with the flywheel as there is a couple of heat spots on it. The clutch was done, Scott described it as "1mm off the rivets" so it is good timing to fit the new one. The block is being steam cleaned this afternoon so should look a lot prettier when it goes back in
  14. I thought it was about time to give an update on progress with my car as I have been pretty quiet the past few months. As some of you may know, I have decided not to go ahead with the plans for the single turbo 6 speed conversion. This is mostly due to financial reasons, as my contract was cut short unexpectedly at work, and i didn't want to put myself in a stressful position because of my car. I had a long think about what I wanted out of my car, and keeping it on the hybrids was the right call for me. My BMW Getrag 420G gearbox has finally shown up! Although I am still missing the clutch and a couple small bits, which hopefully will arrive soon. I think I will sell this kit on, as I have completely lost interest in it after waiting so long for it to arrive, and there is no real need now i am staying on the twins. I did pick up a Spec Stage 3+ for the 5 speed in the Whifbitz Black Friday sale though. I'm really looking forward to not having a ridiculously heavy pedal from the Competion Clutch stage 4, and a clutch that doesn't slip on boost! I sold my fuel system for the single kit as it would have been overkill for my power level, but i still wanted to replace the fuel lines as they are corroded. I bought another set of braided fuel lines from Hodge to replace the stock ones, this time his oem replacement kit which is -6an teflon braided lines and fittings for the stock rail and tank fittings. These are great quality, looking forward to getting them on. I will remove the pulsation damper and retain the oem regulator. Work started on my car today after a long wait. In addition to the clutch and fuel lines, I am still going ahead with a lot of the planned maintenance replacing the oil and water pumps, crank pulley, thermostat, belt tensioner, timing and V belts, full oem gasket kit including head gasket and valve stem seals. I think the engine will be pulled from the car to make this easier. I have kept some goodies to put in still, such as the HKS camshafts and gears, the 4 row fmic and the one piece exhaust. I am also getting some niggles sorted out such as straightening the sills, fixing an a/c leak, and tucking the driver side loom to get it out the way of my catch tank. I am really looking forward to getting the car back and enjoying it this year with a clean bill of health, I haven't driven it since September really!
  15. I am sellling the single turbo kit I put together to fit to my car, as I have decided to stick with my hybrid twins. Everything is brand new, except the manifold which i picked up used and is in great condition, and the turbocharger which i had rebuilt and has not been fitted. This is a comprehensive kit and includes everything you need for the turbo system. The kit consists of: HKS T04R Turbocharger. Rebuilt by Liam at Midland Turbo with new seals and bearings, also replaced the compressor wheel with an oversized billet hybrid version, so spool should be very quick. T4 flange, polished compressor housing Whifbitz -4an braided oil feed with goodridge fittings and block adapter, new turbo flange and gasket -10 braided oil return line with Whifbitz billet drain flange and gaskets. Whifbitz twin scroll, twin wastegate tubular manifold. Manifold is in great condition with new DEI titanium heatwrap fitted New OEM manifold gaskets and T4 turbo gasket 2x Turbosmart compgate 40 wastegates. brand new in box with the V band flanges etc. I have one of the screamer pipes as well which i will throw in Suprastore 3" V band downpipe, with boss for wideband sensor. Also the V band clamps and a spare set of 3" V band flanges 4" polished intake pipe with big K&N filter, also black silicone joiner and T bolt clamps Whifbitz polished single turbo FMIC piping, with black silicone joiners and T bolt clamps. K&N IACV breather filter. Funk Motorsports titanium turbo blanket. I also have a 3 row SRD FMIC if necessary. I have loads more pictures and info, so if interested just give me a shout. I am looking for £2750 for everything, which I think is a good price, as it cost me a lot more to put together. I can post, but collection would be preferred as it will weigh a good bit and will need to be insured as well. Thanks Cam
  16. Midland turbo do a fantastic service, they rebuilt my single. They are in Nottingham i think
