This is awesome, well done mate!

Thanks mate. That is a good idea about blasting the inside of the bar, no point to have it all nice outside and rotting inside! The indicators flash all orange when indicating, the mot tester got a bit shitty with me about the leds not being seperate for the sidelight/indicator, some new legislation apparently. I have found some good photos from when installed, hope they are helpfull.

It's been quite an exciting couple of weeks for me recently, I have managed to get myself a garage! It's a pretty big deal for me as I have been looking for 3 years! It is walking distance from my house and in a gated yard with cctv. There is room enough for the car and to have work benches and enough space to move around, perfect. My first job was going to be painting the boot floor to tidy it up, but as i was taking the lights off i decided to take the rear bumper off as well. The rear crash bar is a state, unsure what I will do but thinking of replacing it. There was some rust showing in places and the rear of the car looked a state so I spent a few days prepping then painting the rear of the car.

I have all 3 protectors if you still need them?

Another couple of jobs done on the car this week. I noticed the passenger side rear tyre was soft and eventually found a screw that had punctured the tread. It should have been repairable but the inside shoulder was showing signs of starting to crack from running soft so new tyre it was. The new exhaust wasn't sitting perfectly as it the diffuset bracket was in the way. I removed it and modified it to sit 50mm further over to give clearance, worked out well and the exhaust is now sitting as it should. Just waiting on new rubbers for the hanger.

Cheers buddy, hopefully get a catch up over the summer! You need a lift to do it, but it is perfectly possible, if a little tricky. It is a much much bigger job to remove the engine to do it.

It's been a while since I updated this thread as the car has been parked up during the winter. When I took the car for it's mot it started smoking badly from the exhaust. After talking with my mechanic we suspected the turbo seals needed replaced, so i called the guys at Midland Turbo and they agreed, so the turbos were removed to be sent away. Midland Turbo collected the turbos and stripped them down once they arrived. After calling me to discuss the work scope they fitted new seals and bearings, balanced and built them back up. They arrived back with me 5 days after they were collected which i was really impressed with. They look brand new! All the hardware was also replaced which was a nice touch. I picked up an oem turbo gasket set to fit as well. It took a full day to refit everything, for some reason things didn't want to back together easily! We got there eventually though, also changed the oil and coolant. After a hundred mile test drive over the weekend all is well, ready for the season to start. I spent today giving the engine bay a good clean and polish.

I have a spare used one if you don't want to shell out for a new one.

I have a spec stage 3+ with 500 miles on it if you are interested? I upgraded to v161 so no longer needed. It's a great feeling clutch, much better than the competition stage 4 i had before it! It will handle na-t power no problem.

Parts list updated and individual prices added

Thanks mate, pity it's winter now so it will be spring before i can start enjoying it!
-
I never had a chance to update this last month so will do now. Picked the car up on a cold winter's morning, it was a good feeling to have it back to full health! Sounds more aggresive on idle with the new exhaust. After a thoroughly needed clean i took some shots with the new ride height. Not only is the car more comfortable and drivable, i think it looks better too! To finish off the new gearbox I ordered a new oem 6 speed knob and Nardi leather gaiter, much better!

I have my old 5 speed drivetrain for sale, after I upgraded to a v161 setup. Unfortunately the box itself is damaged/broken so that will be thrown in for free if the buyer wants it. Great clutch for na/tt with near stock pedal feel) £270 Brand new ARP flywheel bolts £30 5 speed flywheel £50 5 speed complete propshaft *sold* 5 speed diff flange *sold* Clutch slave cylinder £20 Clutch flexi lines £10 Release bearing *sold* W58 gearbox (broken) *stripped/sold* Shifter tripod £20 Surround and boot for on top of the tunnel £20 Gearbox mount £40 Cheers Cam

+1 for Fuchs Titan Pro S 10W50, i bought 5 litres from Opie and got 1 litre free which is handy!

How much torque and hp are the W58 boxes known to hold ?
Cam27 replied to WayneW's topic in Supra Chat
Killed mine at 450bhp/400ftlb, no launches just on a hard 4th gear pull. Fitting a single on a W58 is a terrible idea -
The V161 and W58 weigh roughly the same, 55-60kg ish Thanks mate, the whole setup was imported from Japan for €5k

After a long 3 months the car is now back on the road! The V161 install was completed yesterday, and went relatively smoothly. I have to say thanks to Paul Whiffin for getting a new set of flywheel bolts out to me in less than 24 hours! The plug on the reverse light switch didn't fit, so i took the old one off the w58, the speed sensor was the same so no problem there. I will need to change my Nardi gearknob as i doesn't fit with the pushdown reverse collar, nor does the gaiter, so i test drove the car with the bare stick haha. I was concerned with the gear ratios on the A01B diff but I am happy with it, the car accelerates so hard now! I also fitted a new set of Goodyear eagle f1s to the front wheels, set the ride height on the Meister Rs and fitted the new Xxr wheelnuts. I am collecting the car in the morning so will be giving him a good detail tomorrow!

Today we set about fabricating the big exhaust i bought last year to fit. The exhaust is 3.5" and my downpipe is 3" so a reducer was required. Started off by chopping the flange off the exhaust and then using the flange off my tb development midpipe before the reducer (much to Tim's disgust haha). Really pleasef with it, can't wait to hear how it sounds! I collected the new flywheel from Toyota this morning but i didn't have the correct bolts so it wasn't possible to fit it. I did manage to change the oil and fit the new diff flange and pas reservoir though
-
I decided today the flywheel that came with my gearbox was not going on my car, it was too far gone. I have ordered a new one from Toyota which should arrive Thursday. I'm not happy as they are very expensive! I did get some nice goodies in the post though. New xxr lug nuts, new Nardi gear knob to match my steering wheel, new pas reservoir and hoses and shifter tripod bushes from Toyota. Also a set of Meister R coilovers. I started fitting the coilovers this afternoon.

Today the w58 driveline was removed, only took an hour which was good. Surprisingly the clutch and flywheel looked fine so the failure was solely in the box itself! I Took the oppurtunity to get some comparison shots 5spd vs 6spd The lightwight flywheel that came with the box turned out to have a bad friction surface, there were deep grooves and lips in it so i decided to have it skimmed. Luckily my trusty mechanic recently purchased a skimming machine so i took the oppurtinty to have ago. I still have the big 3.5" custom exhaust i bought last year so I am hopefull to get that fitted this week as well, there will be a bit of fabrication to make it where it meets the downpipe, hopefully not too much though.
