Started to Strip the Interior to test fit my Fosta rollcage, I was surprised to discover that the mats had been glued to the carpet, but the carpet under the mats was grey? Turns out there was generic black carpet glued to the old carpet in the visible places! Needless to say the whole lot got chucked as I had the new black carpet from Keron Interior stripped out In the middle of that, my TRD wing showed up and I couldn't resist test fitting it there and then! Fitment seems good. Supra's just don't look right spoilerless! The snow scuppered my efforts yesterday so today set about re-installing the interior. New carpet in, as well as the new mats, which look awesome. I am going to replace most of the fasteners for the interior as they are old and grubby/damaged, small details make a difference. My original plan was to sell the whole retrimmed stock interior as a set, it looks good but orange isn't my favourite colour tbh, and i would have to buy replacements which defeats the purpose. Tonight i am dying the orange trim black. I will still sell the front seats and boot carpet though, and the mats. Hopefully tomorrow i can get the wheel alignment done, replace the outside door moldings as they are damaged and get the rest of the interior back in.

I had the same thought process a couple of months ago mate, how the hell am I going to install these harnesses? Looked at some of the options you mentioned, and every time ended up saying to myself I will have to use a harness bar to do it properly, so i totally agree with what you are proposing. I just received my half cage from Jamie unpainted because i knew i would be welding a bar on, just need to work out what height and how far back to make it. I found this article really usefull, as it's Takata themselves giving the advice http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/06/takata-ask-the-expert-answers/

The car was ready to be picked up today after spending 9 weeks in the garage. The front end of the car went very smoothly, installed no problem. There was a little trouble with the rear end, mainly due to the Soarer rear anti-roll bar was designed to mount to the chasis and not the subframe. The solution was to change the subframe mounts back to my original Supra ones and use my Supra anti-roll bar with Soarer end links, so that will need replaced/refurbished down the line, as well as my diff casing as I ran out of time/patience for it to be refurbed. Also the Soarer handbrake cables were too long so got new ones, and had to transfer my old wheel studs as they are extended ones to clear the brakes. I got my RMM V2 lip fitted whilst the car was in the garage and it looked really well when I went to collect the car. The drive home was a bit nerve-wracking as the car desperately needs a 4 wheel alignment with all the new suspension parts, but it will be the weekend before I can get it done. The steering is much improved with the new rack, a lot more precise and responsive. The car felt firmer, but the ride was not uncomfortable (I thought it might be with all poly bushes). There was a nice package waiting in the boot as well, a pair of genuine Takata 3" 4-point harnesses! Once I got home it was straight in to fitting new parts I have had waiting. First up was a Tanabe rear strut brace, I ordered from Htune, a company local to me (check out their website, great prices on JDM parts, and can special order stuff from Japan). I may have have mounted it the wrong way round, but it fits much better this way, and I can’t see it being any less effective. I’m chuffed that the trims fit over without any cutting. I will try fit the carpet underneath for a neater finish. Tomorrow will be a busy day stripping out the interior to test fit the half cage from Fosta, as well as fit new carpet and mats, armrests and side mouldings. I am going to reinstall the OEM seats temporarily as the seat brackets i bought for Status buckets sit way too high, so I will modify them to sit low to the floor. I am also adding a harness bar to the rollcage to mount the harnesses, just need to work out the best way to do it one it is test fitted.

Not as big an update as I had hoped for today but some progress has been made with the Supe! Got hold of a set of used ABS sensors for £60 from Australia (much better than the £800 Mr. T wanted! Really?) So they are now fitted. The front subframe is installed and looks really well. I was hopefull to get the car back by Christmas but unfortunately the Soarer rear subframe has a totally different sway bar mount than the Supra so it has to be modified to fit. I decided to order a new Supra sway bar rather than fit the Soarer one as they are mounted to the chasis. Also thought I had better order new diff ear bushes as every other bush is brand new! New front subframes mounted. I took a trip down to Keron’s for the seized subframe bolts, as my local Toyota really messed me about and delayed the work by weeks! Also picked up a new carpet, as my car doesn’t have a stock carpet, a replacement fuel tank cover and weather strips for the doors. My dog tried to claim the carpet as his new bed! Tank cover after cleaning the dirt and grime off. Primed. Not perfect but much better. So hopefully by this time next week I will have the car back, and get a four wheel alignment done. I have a lot of work to do to it myself installing the carpet, rollcage and harnesses as well as a few other bits and pieces. I have provisionally bought a full carbon Shine auto diffuser as well!

Not a problem mate, happy to help! That is awesome you got it all sorted, what single set up are you going with?

The car has been at the garage for the past couple of weeks getting the subframes replaced. I went down for a visit today to check out the progress, and it’s going well. Unfortunately there were some bolts seized that needed to be cut, so I am just waiting for replacements from Toyota, which is holding things up at the moment. Also, the ABS sensors were seized in the old hubs, so I am trying to source some used ones as they are stupidly expensive from Mr. T! Whilst the car is up on the lift I took the opportunity to inspect the underside, I was pleasantly surprised, it’s in decent nick for being over 20 years old! Meanwhile my parts emporium is growing. I ordered a set of custom mats from Dane Callaway, they took an age to arrive but the quality is excellent. Also got a Tanabe rear brace and Mishimoto lug nuts. I have a half cage on order from Jamie Fosta, and Takata 4 point harnesses ready to go in. Lastly I have an RMM V2 lip getting fitted while the car is in the garage. I decided to stay with a more stockish look for now.

In the pictures there is a North American phone number on the sign, and the cars parked have no front number plates! After a bit of digging i found the original advert from a company in Canada called Osaka Jdm auto, same spelling errors and all. Messaged the seller to call him out saying i want to see the engine and he said it's in Austria! Total scumbag, i hope nobody is gullable enough to actually send him money.

Hi mate, they actually sit slightly higher than the oem seats, but this is due to the mounting brackets i used. I sat in a Bride Low Max (Stradia I think) last week, and they grip you harder around the ribs, the status seats are more open on the top half but are tight to your thighs. Entry is pretty decent.

After waiting several weeks the brackets for my seats arrived, so i finally managed to get them installed! Also a shot of the blue dash lights my dad took the other day

I have been gathering up parts over the autumn for doing a lot of work on the car over the winter. First of all was a Ridox front end which I picked up from forum member Coombesy. I am not worried about not having the carbon lip as I will be fitting a carbon splitter. Next was a pair of OEM plastic skirts I picked up from Drgray on here. I bought these before I decided to go full Ridox, so will probably fit them in the meantime. He took me a run in his R33 GT-R, the power delivery is way different from a BPU Supra, much smoother and higher up the rev range. I picked up a pair of OEM spats, (again before the Ridox) but didn’t realise they were facelift! I sold these to Coombesy after a bus hit his Supra! Nightmare. I knew my suspension and subframe were in need of an overhaul, the car’s handling feels lazy in my opinion, and it is corroded underneath. As luck would have it Edd Andrews was breaking his immaculate Soarer and agreed to sell me his rebuilt subframes, complete with poly bushes, new control arms, new sway bars, refurbed steering rack and drive shafts. He wasn’t keen on posting so I hired a van and drove the 900 mile round trip to pick them up! Really chuffed with them and saves me a load of work. I headed up to Kircaldy to speak to a company about getting my wheels diamond cut again as the clear coat is a bit tarnished and water has got in behind it. Whilst I was up there I went to Autotint (which is owned by Fimmo on here) to get my rear and quarter windows tinted.

Cheers man. I think the W58 is stronger than people think, I have not had a problem with it so far. Although i never hard launch it or abuse it just to be safe

Thanks mate. The stage 4 is a bit of a pig to drive to be honest, but you get used to it after a while. The pedal is very heavy, and there is little to no slip so if you try and baby it you get judders. Give it a bit of revs when pulling away and it's fine enough.

Thanks mate, that is the plan!

My plan was always to put carbon backed recliners in the car, and i had my eye on a pair of Bride Low Max. The problem with Brides for me is that every other Civic you see is fitted with “replicas”, or fakes as i see it. The other thing is the scene tax, £3.5k for a pair + subframes is steep. A friend told me about a company in the states called Status Racing, who are stocked in the UK by 6two1.com. I emailed Adam from 6two1 and got a great deal on a pair of carbon backed Spa recliners. These seats are amazing, light as a feather and look awesome. I was a little concerned about the width at the shoulder bolsters as they are much wider than oem seats, but they fit snugly. I had to order the mounting brackets from the states, so once these arrive I can get them properly installed.

Thanks very much man, that is good to hear!

Thanks very much mate. Yeah I 100% agree about the gearbox, I won't be putting any more power in the car until it's upgraded. I have spoken to Joel Grannas about the Tremec T56 Magnum conversion, it makes more sense to me than paying an arm and a leg for a used V160. It can hold 700ft/lb and the AO1B is perfect ratio wise. The only snag is with the pound weak it is very expensive now. By the way your car is stunning man, love it!

With the MOT coming up I wanted to sort out some niggles with the car. The fuel tank protector I could tell was in bad condition, so my plan was to whip it off to repair and paint it. I wasn’t quite expecting it to be completely destroyed! I will have to see Keron next month when I am down that way for a decent one. Also painted the rear fog light with glass paint for the MOT, which the car sailed through with no advisories. Nice one! Cumbria Auto Show was the first show I attended with my car club (Border Sports & Performance), it was a successful day with winning the best club stand, my friend’s Lambo Huracan voted best car and my Supra awarded a highly commended medal, which took me by surprise as I don’t think it’s anywhere near a show car yet! I also got a couple shots with the Lambo, it makes the supra look almost ordinary! I ordered a TRD oil cap from Whifbitz and picked up a Mine’s strut brace from a fellow member who managed to get it posted to me before my local show (Dumfries). I also added a Zillalife decal to the rear quarter, not everyone’s cup of tea, but you can never go wrong with skulls in my book. I stupidly managed to crack the windscreen by catching the rear view mirror climbing over the over the centre console! So new facelift glass was ordered and installed.

Stay cool - R134a a/c refrigerant due to be phased out in new cars by 2021
Cam27 replied to rider's topic in Supra Chat
134A is very common on ships for A/C, domestic fridges and reefer plants, so there is no chance of production ending any time soon.
