  1. Hi there, I am buying a supra TT on 23rd and the owner previously had it booked into this event. If I arrive with all the info he has/needs printed off will it still suffice for me to turn up with the car. I think the owner is going to the event also! Thanks.
  2. Just phoned my current insurer who I hold a policy with for my mr2 turbo and even though they never quoted me online or through comparison sites they quoted me £675 today on the phone annually. So it's safe to say I'll be snapping that deal! Haha!
  3. Bristol. Believe he is an ex-member on here yeah got some pictures. Having trouble uploading them, will try going through an URL.
  4. Alloys and a custom built exhaust. The rest of the car is entirely stock. Has an immobiliser and key fob etc alarm system which I did forget to declare also. Might help bring in a few more providers etc. Still got a good month before I pick the car up so hopefully have something sorted, just wanted to see what other people have done in past to find competitive quotes.
  5. I can definitely get insured on it, was just shopping about for the best quote. Gocompare showed results around the 1200-1500 pound mark. GoSkippy with blackbox - 750, Aviva with App - 750.
  6. Awesome, see some of you then.
  7. Thanks for the ideas. I'm willing to try all sorts. Will try Classic insurance first and see what prices I get quoted, and then yeah, go for the big names. I currently insure my MR2 Turbo with Elephant, and the insurance runs out on the 25th of April, I pick the car up on the 23rd, so if they are willing to insure me I would change it over around the 20th and it would only cost me to insure it for a week or so. IF they will insure me on it.
  8. Isle of Skye. West Coast of Scotland. I hear the club comes this way sometime this year?
  9. As title states, nobody will insure me... Tried Sky, Aviva, TempCover.com (just to bring her home). Aged 22, I understand why there is hesitation to insure me on a car like the TT Supra. Anyone else had this issue at my age and if so what did you do? Thanks. Only thing I can do is with GoSkippy with a blackbox installed on the car so far...
  10. Hi Westy, new Scotland member here from April 23rd onwards.
  11. Oh well. Thanks a lot for everyones responses! Glad to hear people saying that I should have the MR2 turbo as Manual and leave the Supra as Auto as that is what I was hoping for. Also thanks for the heads up on testing the auto box. The car looks seriously straight so I am going to the car without any concerns, but always good to be aware of these things during the test drive. What date is it that this Club comes to Isle of Skye?
  12. Thanks for this reply, pretty much summed up what I was hoping for! And also thanks Scooter for your reply, if it really is that much more for a manual I would rather stick with the Auto box and a Manual MR2 Turbo! What sort of settings are on the Supra's Auto box? And is there any heads up on what signs to look for for a faulty box, not that I think these bombproof engines will have suffered much by 23k miles but just incase!
  13. Hi Annabella, is that a big job, and is there and sort of semi-auto setting on the box? Or just - Drive, Park, Reverse. I'm only curious, and a newbie. Haha.
  14. Thanks for the input. The car will probably just be a weekend/summer/show car. 1 previous owner since import into UK in 2000, only done 23k miles and the thing is immaculate. I'd like to have fun in the car, but at the same time not ruin in. Owning a Turbo MR2, manual ofc, on the Scottish roads seems enough fun if ever I need it, the agility and uncut feel in them things is immense, but I'm sure the Supra is a whole other machine. Will think some more about it, but pretty set on this one as more an investment/enjoyable car. Almost completely stock too, so at shows might get noticed for originality etc and would like to keep it that way. Or does all that sound daft?
  15. Hi all, new to the Supra scene and looking at an auto TT. What you all think about the different transmission boxes and why? PRO'S/CONS of each. Never owned an Auto car, and deepening on how I feel about it, might keep it or swap to a manual box. (Is this an option?) Thanks.
  16. I'll private message you some as if I post out to public others might buy them too! Haha.
  17. Haha oops! How many miles would anyone reckon is a decent amount on the engines? Like there is a Supra for sale with the 6 speed manual gearbox and it has 140k miles on it. Asking £8250. And there is an auto with 79K miles asking £10k. Any info would be appreciated on the life of the engines. Anything under £10k is ideally the budget I am looking for. Thanks.
  18. Thanks Frank, will get setup just now. Also... when looking for a TT, which is more fun... Auto or Manual? Thanks.
  19. I understand that the roads are brill up here but I would feel bad about taking the car out in, not so great, conditions. Like through Winter - the roads are a mess. I would just have to part with it over them months. The MR2 turbo truly is a different kind of machine, it's so agile and uncut, and I see what you mean on how the NA might feel like not much of a step forward now. The TT's are just such an expense I would be gutted if it wasn't what I'd hoped for after spending all the cash, but I mean, c'mon, it's a Supra! Doubt there is any disappointment! I'm just being too cautious maybe. Perhaps getting a spin out when the MK4 club come to Skye this year would be the best bet, especially since my partner and I are going through a house move at the minute too, funds have got to be a bit prioritised to that first. Heart has been set on the TT since I was just a boy playing Gran Turismo, so maybe better keeping it that way! Anyone comment on how the road holding and general fun factor of the TT is, in comparison to an MR2 turbo? (If anyone here has had both, would be great to know.) Not many on the MR2 forums have got Supra's. Marcus, I stay in UIG, right up the north where the Ferry comes in to take people out to the Outer Isles. Oh and also, where do I find how to join in with the subscriptions? Can't seem to find it. Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the welcoming guys. I'm currently looking at an NA auto. Ready for a single turbo. It's more in my budget and where I live having a TT really might be wasted. It's got 70k miles and FSH since manufactured in Japan. Only been in UK since 2009. What you all think it should be worth without me mentioning all mods etc. HPI clear. Who else is in Scotland?
  21. Ah great. That would be awesome if I haven't found one by then yeah. I'll go about signing up tomorrow so I can make full use of the membership and website. I've loved the look of these cars since I was a little boy and bought one as soon as I could on Gran Turismo! Thanks.
  22. Hi everyone, I'm glad to have found this website! I have decided to man up and take on a Supra, I have had MR2 turbos for years and have always aspired for the Supra. I'm still on the hunt for the right one just now but would love to see what people on the forum have to offer or even to show for added inspiration. I stay on the Isle of Skye but am certainly willing to travel for the right car. My last MR2 turbo I picked up from King's Lynn, nowhere in the UK is too far to travel for the right motor! So yeah, just drop me a PM if you are thinking of selling up etc. Thanks again. Kurk.
