I was thinking it might be the bulb but all of them not working would point at something more, I actually found a page describing the prblem and it might just be some solder points. https://blog.tangrs.id.au/2015/10/fixing-the-dash-status-light-panel-on-a-toyota-supra/

Quick question, is it a common problem for the dash light panel to the right that usually shows the check engine light to not work, it didnt work when I bought the car and if it is a common problem what is the common fix? this panel is the one not lighting up when i turn the car on.

I got it on to a classic policey, car needs to be 20 years old and you need to have a daily driver.

Thanks, looking forward to it. I have already put in a new antenna unit and wired it up in work so at least that is out of the way, the bonnet will need a full respray and I have a front strut brace in for the car which I will install tomorrow. Cant wait to actually drive the thing.

Great thread, your car is similar to the one I just got, same colour too, did you just screw on that antenna or did you remove the motor unit from the old one first? The antenna was snapped off when I bought the car and I dont want to replace with an ac looking one, so the stubby one could be an option.

interesting topic, I had JR3 wheels on my chaser and had the same problem with a shake at 60mph, I know someone else with JR wheels who also had the same issue. I got my wheels re-balanced twice and it did not fix anything, I went back to the wheels I had on before and I changed the front brake-discs and there is no shake at all now. Maybe the wheels are the problem, I will know more soon as I still have the wheels and plan to put them on my Supra.

SO I have had a few days to look over the car, with the sun out I can see the paint has some blotches of fade that were not noticeable when I was buying so I will give it a going over with a machine polisher, there looks to be a patch on the bonnet where bird sh*t was left for years and is rough so it might have rusted under, the sills where the car would sit on axle stands are completely flattened on both sides which is weird. Being an NA the car lacks ABS, traction control and airbag but the car is a A01B so has a torsen lsd and it has KYB suspension all round. exhaust is standard so I may delete to first cat to improve the sound a bit. The interior is nice with no cracks and I will have to find a good product for the interior leather/vinyl. The steering wheel and shifter are a bit worn but I can sand them down and use dye to repair. The rear antenna is snapped off however the motor still runs when the radio is turned on, very annoying but lucky the dealer gave a new antenna so I might install it just for the looks and just not plug the motor in. That is all I can see wrong with it, the car really has a lot of character and forces you to love it.

Those answers are reassuring, the car has been sitting up for at least 2 months at a car dealers, as said I will know more when I get the under tray off. Thanks.

Well I have the Supra a day and can not drive it as I am sorting out tax and insurance so have parked it up in work, when the car has been on and is turned off there is a sort of dripping noise, I thought it might be an oil leak but I could not see any on the ground, I have taken a look at other posters threads on noises and cant find any like mine, I will have time on the weekend to take the under tray off and look for leaks but anyone any ideas? Also do non turbo engines all sound like this at idle? Thanks. The noise can be heard towards the end of this video

those brakes really need an upgrade, so I might do the LS400 conversion. get a nice lip spoiler and change the wheels. I think I will try out the stock engine for a few months, Then when I am after power look into an NA/t or 1JZ conversion.

Thats a great looking Supra, would love that but no body wants to buy my Chaser so no Money. -
Added video showing the issue with the rear bumper and a quick look at the engine. For anyone that wants to know about registering it in the UK, go to the DVLA website and get them to send you an "import pack", that has everything you need in it. After doing a quick search You will need the following prior to visiting the DVLA: Irish log book(registration book) to give to the DVLA Proof of UK insurance (cover note of UK insurance. You can insure the vehicle on its VIN number for 14days until I has obtained a Uk registration. Valid MOT (the car can be MOT'ed under its Irish reg number and re-issued in the DVLA office under its UK reg) You will also need photographic ID and proof of Uk address x 2 (bank statement, utility bill etc).

I need money to buy a Supra so the Chaser is going up for sale. Looking for £5700(7500 euro) ono. 1997 Toyota Chaser Tourer V turbo. Transmission:Auto HP:280 Drivetrain: RWD 11L/100km 71,849miles.(115,630km) Front Strut brace, 18”wheels, Stainless exhaust. Belts, water pump, Oil and fluids changed at 97,000km. VVTI pully replaced. Front wheel bearings replaced. (Irish MOT)NCT: Oct 2016 (Irish)Tax:end of June 2016 This car comes with the 2.5L 1JZ VVTI Turbo Motor and was the direct rival to Nissan's Skyline platform. Pros:Was a Grade 4 car when imported, Super reliable, Low miles, engine is in great condition and un-modified, quiet and comfortable, Electric Mirrors, Electric windows, Air-con, heated rear window, Alarm and FOB activated central locking, remote activated boot, factory Tinted rear windows, traction control, Factory xenon headlights. Standard suspension. 2 keys and 2 alarm FOBS. Non-smoker car, I have the original front bumper and fog lights. I have lots of receipts. No Rust. Cons:rear bumper looks poor compared to rest of car as it came off a drift car and I repaired it but its not perfect. There is some curbing on the wheels. There is slight dash lift which is common on these cars but is not noticeable, an area on the side of the dash has a small hole where it looks like a boost gauge was mounted, this has been covered by a sticker. No rust. I am in Dublin Ireland so this may pose a problem for most on here, however I do live 25 minutes from Dublin port so if anyone wanted to come over test drive the car and head back on a ferry that could work. I can recommend the Toyota Chaser, fast, RWD, 4 doors, easy to power up 1JZ engine and reliability.
-
Thanks all. It is a great daily, 1JZ GTE. Great power and room for the family. I want a supra because it looks great and the dash is driver focused. I dont know how the power delivery will be on the Supra twins compared to the Chaser single Turbo.

I like these ones alot; http://page17.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v449297684

Welcome, I am new myself, will it be a big issue getting insurance on a RHD car in France?

wish I could but over here, the chaser cost 1080 euros to tax a year and the Supra will cost 1,494 euro a year.
