  1. I will start removing pipes and wait for the singing angels lol. would the actuators operate whilst revving the engine in neutral?
  2. I wish I lived a bit closer to you Chris as my mechanic skills do not go far past changing a wheel lol. I will have to find a supra specialist around the Essex area. Do you know of anyone competent around the Essex area?
  3. Hi Shane and Chris I had sort of discounted the hoses as some of the time it works fine. I would have thought (and correct me if I am wrong) that a split or disconnected hose would cause a constant problem. I haven't changed the Iacv vsv yet because I believe that if that one was the problem I would retain the boost pressure from the 1st turbo, where as mine boosts (0.6 bar) up to 4000 rpm and then drops to 0.1.
  4. Well, got my new egcv vsv today from Japan. Fitted it and changed the pipe work back to sequential. Took it out for a spin and the original problem is still there :-( Works perfectly in TTC mode so I guess that means there is no problem with the boost pipes. Any further suggestions?
  5. Changed over to TTC today. turbos are working fine every time so I guess that confirms that the problem is with the vsv. I have ordered an EGCV from amayama as recommended by Ellis. Now just got to wait for it to arrive.
  6. Hi GTR. That could have been me. Was in Basildon a couple of weeks ago. If it was me it would have been a red TT aerotop. I live in Southend.
  7. Took a look at the converting to TTC instructions. Looks quite easy even for a ham fisted novice like me. I will probably replace the EGCV vsv to start with. Car does not get used a whole lot these days so the wait to get the part from Japan wont matter too much. Cant thank you all enough for you help with this. I really appreciate it. Will post when I get it working to let you know what it was.
  8. Thanks for the advice. Went to the local toyota dealer today and asked a price for the EGCV. They didnt have a clue what i was talking about and couldnt find the part listed, so this will help alot. Can I ask what TTC mode is and how you get into it? sorry lol
  9. As I said, I really am not very technically minded. Where can I find the EGCV? and are we talking about the EGCV VSV or the EGCV actuator? Thanks in advance for you help.
  10. Dont think it is a split hose as sometimes it works fine.
  11. That really helped Ben. Looks like the Exhaust Gas Control Valve is not always opening. The description of the symptoms is exactly what I am experiencing. Time to get that looked at. Thanks again
  12. Thanks very much. will read it now
  13. Hi all. I have had my 1993 j spec tt aerotop for 12 years now and it has never missed a beat. That is until now :-( Just recently, it has started intermittently losing all boost from the 2nd turbo. The 1st turbo seems to work fine boosting at around .5 -.6 bar. As soon as it gets near to 4000rpm (where the turbo would usually boost at around 1.2 bar) the boost reduces to 0.1 and the car accelerates like a 1.1 fiesta. I'm not very mechanically minded so taking the battery off and reconnecting it was the first thing I tried. Strangely this seemed to work the first time I tried it but didn't take too long for the problem to return. I am not hearing any strange noises from the engine / turbos and would be surprised if it was a loose hose as it occasionally works fine for several full throttle accelerations in a row. The car has a Blitz nur spec exhaust with 1 cat removed, Greedy profec E01 boost controller, fuel cut defender and a cone filter. (These are the only mods I know about). I run the car on 99 ron fuel. I would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions.
