Let us know what it's like, it does sound very fun
  2. I wouldnt say the r8 v8 performance will blow you away I test drove one a few weeks back and it felt slower midrange compared to my 400hp supra
  3. R8 v8 or v10 if budget permits 911 996 turbo These are the 2 I'm currently debating around the 35k price bracket
  4. Doing them speeds down what looks to be a 30mph street.. fucking twat.. looking at how many bonnets he has surfed on he must have been doing atleast 70mph
  5. Il take this if it's not already gone please
  6. I rang toyota a few weeks ago to enquire about headlights They said we haven't got any yet but that they were listed at £182 + vat Hopefully that's the actual price
  7. No I've not driven a 911 turbo just just a standard 911. Yer I just find the 911 996 abit marmite, I like it but I dont know if I love it, not like the r8 anyways, I think id be extremely happy with the r8 v10 but I'd have to save abit longer for that. Yes I know what you mean, I would adapt and eventually come to love the v8s characteristics and I've never owned a v8, it's on the bucket list lol I suppose I wait now to see a 911 turbo in person then I can make my mind up
  8. So I drove the r8 v8 manual last night, wow, it looks amazing, it sounds amazing it's very well built.. but.. its lacking something, and that's called mid range. I started it up, opened the exhaust, straight piped titanium exhaust, I have never heard something sound so evil, absolutely naughty sound, didnt expect it to sound so loud at all. I pulled away and the torque was pretty savage, upto 30-40 mph but then it was all abit slow if I'm honest, I took it to 100 and it didnt really have any urgency to get there. the supra is the other way round, it's slower off the line but once the twins have awoken it's just a train, relentlessly eating up the road. Dont get me wrong though, that just the nature of NA , the owner said you have to imagine it's a vtec, all your power is really at the top end. it got nicely tail happy when I planted it, but all in all I see why audi ended up going v10, the v8 just needed a little bit more pep in its step. Still though a brilliant car with handling that's leagues ahead of the supra imo
  9. Yes I can only imagine what a v10 r8 sounds like after hearing a straight pipe v8 r8 in person last night Have always loved rx7 but the reliability issues have always put me off
  10. I am already bpu, I suppose I'm just bored of supras, I have contemplated a single set up but when asking the big tuners im looking at 5 figures for a small single set up. I know everyone will say "you can do it alot cheaper doing it yourself, but I simply dont have the time/patience to piece together a complete turbo kit and sort it all out, my time is better spent working and paying for a drive in/drive out at a tuners but I dont want to sink a further 12k into the supra only to find out a few months down the line that I'm still bored of the car.
  11. Yer totally agree, but you have to compare to know what you like more I suppose
  12. To slow? Are you bpu? Just tryna gauge it when I test drive one in an hour. I've heard they can suffer from carbon build up on the valves which can take as much as 100hp off the r8's already modest 415hp. Il compare my bpu supra against this r8 and report back lol
  13. Good suggestion, however I dont think I'd want a lhd But yes you do get alot for your money
  14. I know I've seen it, however I'm abit dubious about it as 90k is higher then I'd like, especially with a SC strapped on, wouldnt know what I was letting myself in for. I bet it would be quick as hell though. Ideally though I want a car with no more then 50k on the clocks
  15. Yer but like I said they are both an extra 17k-20k extra I'd love a v10 r8 or 997 T but I dont want to spend that much considering the minimal amount I drive my toys. the extra 2 cylinders and 100hp is not worth a 20k premium I my eyes but each to their own. Yes i had looked however v12 astons are abit to subdued for me, much more of an older gents car imo. I did a track day not to long ago, i drove 5 cars, I wanted to get a feel on the track of each model for a potential purchase. Little summary below: R8 v8 - by far I thought this felt the most special, it wasnt the faster by far but it just felt and looked amazing, v8 soundtrack is beautiful and build quality was sublime, plus on a track (if it's a short windy one) the r8 v8 is marginally quicker then a 911 996 turbo) R35 GTR - I had big Hope's, but honestly it was pretty boring imo, it's so easy to drive fast that I just didnt find it involving enough hence it just lacked the fun factor for me, dont get me wrong they are stupidly quick but it just didnt feel special, it didnt sound special and it certainly doesnt look that good tbh, it is however an amazing tool for track times Lamborghini gallardo performante - honestly, not what I expected. I've always had a thing for a lambo, until I drove one. I was excited, I got in, the driving position was uncomfortable to say the least, torso facing 1 way, legs the other way, then there was the gearbox, I know exotics are not supposed to be easy drives and demand more input but honestly I dont know if the gear box was fu#ked or if it's how they all drive, the gear change was so violent that when I was entering corners fast if I were to change gear on a sweeping bend at speed it would jerk so hard and unsettle the car, not what you want when in a corner at 100mph+ (I didnt have this issue in any other car) Ariel atom 300 supercharged - mental, just bloody mental, go kart on steroids, I'd love one but I like driving to europe/nurburgring each year and it's just not practical 997 Carrera S (I think) - by the time.id driven the others I wasnt interested in this, bit slow, bit dull inside, sounded naff and felt abit swingy, wasnt my cup of tea at all
  16. I haven't, 650hp is the biggest I've ridden in, it's the lag that gets me tbh, yes sure it hits hard once its spooled and will destroy 90% of motors on the road but I feel like getting something abit more "sporty" The supra is a gt and I feel at times abit heavy, having the Gz I believe they weigh 1700kg with all the extras on them so I'd like something abit more nimble I guess. Watching 800hp supra on youtube doesnt fill me with confidence tbh, foot goes down, then its nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, then all the boost coming online at 4.5/5k rpm, meanwhile that car that's a 1/3rd of your power has already gone whilst your spooling. This is exactly why I was hesitant to big turbo mine, my bpu was faster to 70/80 from a standstill then a 650hp supra because of his lag
  17. I know what you mean, supras are very reliable, however I think if you get a well built/well maintained car then it will serve you well. So many people get put off cars that have "bad reliability" because they read something on the internet. The thing is if something goes wrong then people are quick to complain on forums or ask for answers online, whereas if your car is running perfectly you wouldnt often see someone say "oh my cars running so good just as always" So i often think some cars get far to much of a rep as being unreliable. Yer I know what you mean, I've had supras for so long and always talked myself out of changing it for something else thinking that one day they will rocket in value but the same could he said for any collectable car I suppose. Yes the r8 is a looker, I know exactly what you mean For me I love the looks, the v8 soundtrack and the gated manual on the r8, it just looks so amazing. the porsche I like because its pedigree, it looks wide from the rear and obviously goes like shit when remapped. Decisions decisions lol
  18. Care to elaborate? I was under the impression that a 996 turbo was a very well built car?
  19. Some good points scooter I have reasons I want both but I cant make my mind up, test driving both this week though so hopefully il get abit more clarity on it Cheere
  20. In a way yes, but its 35k for a v8 or 55k for a v10, of the same spec/miles Same thing with the 996 turbo, it's about 38k or 50k for a 997. Now obviously I'd much prefer a r8 v10 or 997 turbo but my budget isnt that high.
