  1. Thanks - nice price. This is a really nice looking motor
  2. I make the short one 545mm uncompressed and the long one 585mm uncompressed. When I say "uncompressed" I mean - just as it is lying on the bench - I didn't try to stretch it any longer than it is just lying there. Is that of any use?
  3. What price was/is this up for? I couldn't see it in the thread.
  4. I had trouble doing it in my "Ideal Standard" cistern but another unbranded one was fine.
  5. I've got a pair of calipers that came off when I changed to my Alcons. One is pretty much brand new (maybe 800miles on it) and the other is OK after about 80,000miles but I did paint that one black with a silver decal on it a year or so ago. I don't have any discs but may still have some pads - about 80% left on them.
  6. I am biased too! But - I'd rather see less cars with them as they are getting more common, even on OEM cars now.
  7. So is anyone running a Borg Warner 300sx with the FMW billet compressor wheel? http://www.full-race.com/store/turbos/borgwarner-airwerks/borgwarner-s300sx-fmw-turbo.html
  8. I'm not sure - I'll keep a lookout next time.
  9. I've seen a purple flip paint coloured auto around the area - L reg I think. Is that any of you guys?
  10. Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. Fastcar - who do you get your 15GB from and how much does it cost you? Is it a contract deal or a Pay as You Go thing? Shane - I have looked at the satellite option but it's still relatively pricey with £180 up front and £25 per month for only 4GB. I haven't ruled it out yet by any means though as I'm not a massive "user" so the 4GB may be enough. I'm currently trying to work out what sort of data allowance I do need. FFmacleod - Sounds promising I'll have a search around around as most of the "unlimited" deals I did find were all limited to something stupid like 1GB a month.
  11. I live in a rural area and the ADSL is poor ( I used a "Three" dongle as a trial and managed 2-2.5 MB/sec downloading and anywhere from 0.3-1.1MB/sec uploading so I am thinking of getting a decent 3G modem and router so I have Wifi at home with the data coming in over 3G. It looks like 3GB worth of data can be had for about £11 with a prepay sim off Amazon. Does anyone do anything similar? Three do a little "Mifi" unit which looks nice but I am thinking of going for something that will let me utilize an external 3G antenna to maximise my signal strength and also with an external antenna to help with the Wifi in the house as it's a reasonable size. Mifi from Three (about £80 from Ebay): http://store.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/MiFi Combined 3G modem and router: http://www.3grouterstore.co.uk/3G/Telecom_FM_Dataroute_Voice.html External antenna: http://www.3grouterstore.co.uk/3G/HGO-3G_Omni_DIrectional_External_3G_Antenna.html#aHGO_2d3G_20Antenna Any opinions or pointers for me? Anyone experienced in any of this kit or able to recommend something different?
  12. Ball joint splitter should see you right at the hub end as Dunk said. What is stuck on the others - is it the nuts or is it that you can't get the bolts out through the bushes once the nuts are off? Don't grease the actual threads when you put them back together. Wire brush them and clean them but avoid copper grease or else you will run the chance of stripping a thread with the high torque numbers you need to make them up to....with the grease they'll actually wind up more than they're designed to (due to the lower friction) and can strip.
  13. Have you got the whole thing or just the internals? I might be interested depending on what you have - any idea on the ratio?
  14. That's the way I did mine - total bypass option, and it works well - mine is a DMH valve though. I thought about boost activated but the downside is there's no chance of a loud rumble at idle as you can't open it on demand http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?194439-Dan-s-Supra-Project&p=2712590&viewfull=1#post2712590
  15. I've got a 3" straight through Magnaflow for sale Nic. It has a centre entry one end and offset the other. I bought it to quieten my Nur Spec R down and the I went single and 4" exhaust anyway! Edit: Drop me a pm if you are interested....it's here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?249204-3-quot-Magnaflow-Stainless-Steel-Exhaust-Silencer (not sure if 3" is too big for you though)
  16. I have a full set of UK's that I took off my car when I changed to the big Alcon set up. They were working perfect when I took them off the car in the Autumn and have been in the garage ever since. I wouldn't really want to sell them to anyone guaranteed they'll be perfect if thrown straight on the car though....if it were me I'd at least replace the seals but arguably I'm just being fussy. If anyone is interested I will check the disc and pad thicknesses and post up again. Oh yeah - one of the rear calipers is actually only about 150miles old so that one is spot on
  17. When it next cuts out, dip the clutch and then whilst it is free wheeling see if turning the ignition off for a second or two and then cranking immediately starts it again. I've known two TDCi's (although 1.6) that had this cutting out issue. The first turned out to be a fuel filter change due to debris trapped in there and the second was a faulty fuel pressure sensor (intermittent) which was an easy swap. Have you had anyone check for fault codes? The DPF may have also failed to regenerate but that could by an effect of the other stored codes now that there is something wrong. Both cars I mentioned had DPF related fault codes (no passive regeneration) but the regen worked once the other problems were fixed and the cars taken on a 20min journey over 3000rpm. I have read about perished/split/cracked/flaking fuel hose issues inside the tank but have no first hand experience of that.
  18. Nice project Mario - I'll be interested in what you think of the Kumhos. Great wheel choice
  19. So am I right to take from this that the Clifford alarms have a abttery in the siren plus another one somewhere in the car? I never knew there was a separate battery somewhere....better egt looking!
  20. Good question - I've just started having a casual look around for a softener kit. First step is a hardness test but I'm certain mine is pretty bad as things scale up very quickly.
  21. Take the dizzy cap off, remove the rotor arm and then post up a picture so we can see what electronic ign kit it is.
