  1. Shame to break it but I can see why you would to get it shifted and get some sensible money back. I'll probably take a few bits once you get your list up
  2. What power do you think a cast manifold starts to lose out to a tubular and what would you base that on?
  3. I'd probably take an extended sump depending on price. Can you cange the sump with the engine in the car or does it need to come out?
  4. I run these: http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&Cookie=tyrepricebuster&details=Ordern&typ=R-132858&ranzahl=4&nichtweiter=1&pk_campaign=tyrepricebuster
  5. Do you think anything could have happened if Hogmaw had a rear view camera in the car and had the "tailgating" captured on camera? Would it be appropriate to take a copy of the footage to his local police station?
  6. Blimey - that's a fair bit of power. What turbo is that with?
  7. I've just changed my diff and final drive ratio (from 3.266 to 3.538) and I need to correct the speedo inaccuray as it's reading ~7mph too fast. What's the best way to do that? Cheers Dan
  8. Good commitment David....hoping it goes.well for you
  9. I bought a trd diff Jamie and decided I might as well change to a big casing at the same time seen as I'm running the best part of 600lb.ft through it so I went the whole hog Shouldn't need to even think about the diff again now. This one is a 3.538 though so a bit shorter than my original 3.266 - hopefully it'll be ok...if it's too short I'll have to get the 3.266 parts. We'll see.
  10. 100% correct there jos. I knew the facelift one was longer so I'm not sure why today I thought they were the same! Wishful thinking I suppose. What a crap job to do on your back, under the car, outside. It's turning into a full day to fit this diff
  11. Thanks mark. I have shafts and prop from a big diff car so I will defo fit the shorter passage shaft seen as it's all apart now. I'm not convinced yet that I need.to swap props as they look similar. Do people only change props when going na to tt diffs? Mine is a facelift tt and I just wa t to fit a pre facelift big diff.
  12. Thanks fellas. Got everything loose and just about to drop out the old shafts. I'll do some measurements side by side. Diameter of all shafts is the same on mine.
  13. I know I could probably find this with a good search but could anyone please answer a few q's about swapping to a big diff? Do I need to swap both driveshafts or.just one? If it's one .......which one? Can I just swap half of a big diff prop onto my little diff prop or do I need to swap the whole thing? I'm removing the little.diff right now so any replies are hugely appreciated Thanks Dan
  14. Sorry I don't follow. If this was an "illegal" gun then making all guns "illegal" would have made no difference in this case - that was my original point.
  15. Tragic indeed. Was it an "allowed" gun or an illegal one though?
  16. Check the little PCV valve on the intake side cam cover. If it's buggered it can cause excessive smoking on boost. What oil is in there anyway?
  17. John - is the 1.7bar showing on a gauge or a Syvecs log? My Defi gauge hit 2bar on one run with Ryan but he assured me it was reading waaay over and not to worry
  18. The front calipers on Jamie's kit are a monoblock design so they are very stiff. The caliper tries to blow itself apart when you press the pedal and the one piece design helps hold it togther - this will help with initial feel and bite, as well as reducing sponginess in the system (similar to fitting braided steel brake lines instead of rubber) compared to other designs like KAD, HiSPec, AP, K-Sport and some of the Stoptech calipers. A small downside is that you need to remove the caliper to change the pads - not a big deal in my book though.
  19. I will be fitting my large case TRD soon as well as swapping the prop and driveshaft. I've been reading through the workshop manual and am OK with the preload and backlash checks on the diff. I haven't done the "red lead" contact pattern check yet - that's still to come. Joy! I also noticed that there are some angle checks to do on the prop and diff once fitted. The angles are measured and then adjusted using shims at the diff mounting points to get everything aligned perfectly. Do people actually do these checks on the prop and diff? Thanks Dan
