  1. All the fuelling is taken care of by a sealed HIF44 SU carb. The ECU that people refer to in the metro turbo setup is not an ECU at all. There is a small electronic device linked into the wastegate plumbing which apparently caps the boost in the midrange to keep the torque down and help gearbox life but that's it. Most people seem to disconnect it to increase performance funnily enough I'm thinking as I type but in terms of loom and wiring I reckon there are 3 wires to the alternator, 1 to the water temp on the head, 2 to the distributor, and another one to the oil temp switch. There may also be an anti run on valve but that's not 100% necessary. I'm not sure if the pre-engaged starter motor has any extra wires from the starter solenoid (don't think so) but then if your Mini had a pre-engaged starter anyway this will be of no concern. There may be a few more (or some flaws in my little list) so I'll keep thinking
  2. I'm aiming for 11.5" and that will need the arch rolling. 10.5" should be fine without arch rolling especially if you only stick a 295 on there. They look nice, I'll see what I can find out in terms of widths and available offsets.
  3. Cheers guys - feedback appreciated as always I love the look of the Rotas, I've had four sets of wheels on the car and these GTR's IMHO have looked the best of them all. The trouble with them is the rear wheels are not wide enough at 9.5" as I can only get a 275 on there. Also, I really want to try dropping to a 17" rear to get some extra sidewall and maximise the width as much as possible within the stock bodywork. Right now I'm running 285's at the back on WedsSport rear wheels and they offer a little more grip than the 275's so the width does seem to be helping and I know Jamie found masses of grip when he stepped up the rear width past the norm so I'm hopeful I am reasonably keen on the CCW's but I think the sideskirts and spats would definitely have to go to make them look right or else there'd be a big clash of style on the car. The real downside to them though is they won't get anywhere close to clearing my Alcon front brakes so they are out straightaway unless they make me a custom one off set in which case I may as well get them made in the UK. I've never seen a set of BBS rims on a Supra that I liked but that may just be from a lack of looking. If there's something decent available in these sizes then I'd happily go for it. Josh do you know anyone running BBS rims at 11.5" wide? Edit: The Billet 95's are very nice too....as are the 102's I suppose they are both in the mix as well but they didn't stand out to me any more than the cast ones so I didn't really give them much more thought.
  4. I'm on the lookout for some new wheels to replace the Rota GTRs and I'm taking my time to see what is around. I have a place local to me that can make billet wheels to almost whatever (relatively flat faced) design I like but I have also been looking at the Image website again and I like a few of their cast split rim designs a lot. I've narrowed down the Image wheels I like to the following four designs.....what do you think? I may be removing the skirts and spats off the car shortly so it's not all that easy to picture how they'll look unfortunately but I thought I'd canvass some opinion in the meantime I'm aiming for 17x11.5 at the rear with a 315/35 and 18x9.5 upfront with a 265/35 (or possibly an 18x9 with a 255/35). These last two are my favourites - the first one is 13" and the second is 19" so mine will sit somewhere between the chunky 13" and the spindly 19" as far as spoke shape is concerned. Colourwise, I may go with simple black anodized or powdercoat as I like theblack and gunmetal combo I have at the moment but a little bit of me does that the polished/natural silver colour although that'd be a PITA for cleaning.
  5. Just sent you a pm mate - I'm not having much luck as that auction has ended with no bids.
  6. I had a look but all I saw in that link was a paint pod thing? Does that mean you still have the guitar?
  7. Thanks Chris - will keep you posted. Easy A hammer and block of wood would do. You need to turn the damper upside down and tap the seat gently all the way round (it's only an internal shoulder sat on a C clip). A bit of WD40 might be needed for a little soak to free things up if there's any corrosion in there.
  8. ^^^^ Your post pretty much sums up my feelings on it.
  9. One thing is for sure - this turbo is a real whistler! I haven't driven it on boost at all yet but even as boost is building from vacuum to zero it really WHISTLES. I'm not sure I can hack it to be honest. Anyone else have a BW and find it whistles more than a Precision turbo? I assume the antisurge housing is playing its part....maybe I need some more sound deadening.
  10. They are not listed anywhere but I think it's simply a case of calling them up and asking for it as if it was any other turbo. It wasn't made as a one off hybrid for me or anything silly like that but it was a "special order" item as far as FullRace were concerned and I talked it over with them in depth before I bought it. I don't want to say much about the power delivery...I always rather wait for the RR results so I don't jinx anything and don't look stupid if it doesn't do what I expect
  11. Thanks james, I may well take you up on that. When do you think you could whip them off? Thanks Chris. How much would you want for one including the postage?
  12. Me too, it's gonna be interesting - that's for sure I will give you a shout when we have the SRR date nailed down. Neither. It's an 84-75 which shares the same high flow turbine as the 88-75 but has a custom compressor wheel with an exducer diameter that is almost identical to the 67DBB but with the addition of the extended tips. The inducer is pretty small at approximately 60mm.
  13. I just finished bolting up the new Borg Warner turbo....not a major job but not a super simple swap either as they don't sit in the same position as a Precision unit (I'll stick up a tech post shortly so people know what to expect if swapping out a Precision turbo for a BW). As you can see, the exhaust housing is a little larger but the compressor housing is roughly the same. It sits fairly close to the strut brace but not quite as close as it looks in the photo. Rolling road to follow in about a week.
  14. Anyone got a lower aluminium spring seat going spare? Or maybe even a scrap Bilstein damper they don't want that I could use the seat from? Many thanks Dan
  15. Does anyone have a good source for alloy wheel centre caps? I am looking for something to suit a 73mm bore (Advan style). The only place I have found is Vivid Racing in the US and the centre caps are about $50 each which seemed a little steep. They don't need to be "Advan" at all - just the right size Any ideas?
  16. Hiya mate, would you be able to email me a couple of pics so my dad could take a look (he's the one interested ). Also, whereabouts in Devon are you, he is working near Weston Super Mare at the mo and wondered if you could perhaps arrange to meet up so he could take a look?
  17. Paul - how are you getting on with the TwinsTurbo inconel T4 gasket? Do you stock them now?
  18. Top man, thanks. Will drop you a pm later as I'm headed out in a few mins.... Haven't got any facelift limited slip diffs have you?
  19. Sorry to hear about this mate - glad you are OK. Can't believe it, what a sh!tter. I drove that exact same stretch yesterday afternoon but fortunately I was in the Mazda 6 with the M+S Winter tyres on. I must have been there about thirty mins before you!
  20. I'll take one pair of the rear speaker enclosures please mate - the ones with the duff speakers will be fine and you can chuck them before shipping if you want to save on weight.
  21. I'll take the struts please Keron.
  22. Good point Nic - I would have thought a 35R sized turbo on a cast manifold would make a lovely low boost street car.
  23. Very interesting mate, you are a one man test-bed A twisted rod eh, I'd like to see some pics of it all.....it must have detted to do that surely. Jamesy might be turning the boost down a bit now!
