  1. I have a 1996 GZ with elec folding windows but as far as I'm aware... no heating. Where is the switch (am i missing something obvious?)

  3. Cheers Steve, Do you have any part no's for the water pump and tensioner at all. Mine's a jap spec 1996, not sure if that matters in terms of ordering these particular parts?
  4. Do the tensioners have to be changed too then? I'm getting my belt changed soon but didn't know anything about tensioners being replaced. Advice please??
  5. Pete, I'm booked in for the 25th anyway, just wanted to get it sorted (or at least know which boost reading is correct) so i can switch from 1.0 to 1.2 bar on the dyno, without any messing around. On the 25th will all cars have fuelling, ignition and boost pressure monitored for the runs?
  6. Thanks guys, Eyefi..what do you mean by "swap out"? Scooter I found the hread earlier and had a good read. Seems a leaky vac pipe was causing the problem, i will investigate further.. My dsbc and HKS gauge seem to be out by around 0.3bar!!! The dsbc reads higher, so you can imagine I'm a little nervous upping the settings on the dsbc to get the gauge to read 1.0bar or 1.1bar as I may be at 1.3 or 1.4bar! Gonna have to get another gauge temporarily from somewhere to see which is correct. Just been out for a spin...... In 2nd and 3rd at full throttle no.1 won't boost above 0.5-0.55bar. This drops off to about 0.25-0.3bar and then rises to 0.9ish. In 4th from 40mph full throttle, no.1 builds to roughly 0.7bar (0.95 on dsbc) drops to 0.5 then rises again upwards. In 5th from 55/60 the boost rise is almost constant but there is a drop at 0.7 down to 0.5 then quick rise up to full boost. The dip/transition is a whole lot more obvious in 2nd and 3rd, than the higher gears. Just out of interest, what sort of boost do people make in 1st gear (manuals)?   7. Thanks guys (Matt- Cheesy pic in Redline TOTBII, well done by the way ) What should i be hitting on no. 1 and what should it drop to in change over? The power drops off a fair bit, short delay and then surge of power as boost builds again. Also either of you have a dsbc and if so do you trust its readings? I ask as I have a difference between that and HKS gauge.
  8. My J spec is running seq mode with dsbc installed and running. Few other mods such as exh and lower decat. My question relates to the boost level made under full throttle in seq mode: When i floor the accelerator (or infact increase throttle steady and quick) the boost will rise to 0.5bar, momentarily drop to around zero and then rise fast up to max boost - dependant on setting. Is this correct, should the pressure drop so much during changeover?
  9. Hey guys, Just got a couple of questions regarding decat pipes. My lower cat is gone (thanks to HKS pipe I think) and i'm considering getting rid of top cat now too. I wondered what size (internal diameter) these top decat pipes were - and whether they match up internally to turbo outlet or if there's a step change in diameter? I'm running a J spec (I know there are slight differences in pipes for uk) Thanks
  10. This is what I'm trying to do: Originally had bleed valve fitted and no DSBC and hit 1.0bar on HKS gauge regularly. Fitted the DSBC and got rid of bleed valve. Now with DSBC switched off (really just to check normal boost) I'm getting a reading of 0.68bar and something equally low from the gauge. I reasoned that I may have a leak somewhere but this changed occured overnight as soon as I fitted DSBC. Checked everything but nothing seems amiss. Also when running on any of my four settings I get different readings from gauge and DSBC and not sure which to believe. I want to get it setup to vary between 1.0bar and 1.2bar but to get gauge to read 1.2bar will probably mean DSBC will show about 1.4bar! Whether or not it's reading high, it's a little worrying. I'm trying to find a gauge to borrow off someone and plumb in temporarily to verify readings!
  11. Hello people, Got an annoying question about my Blitz DSBC. When switched to off (ie should give stock boost/performance) the readout will go no higher than 0.68 bar of boost. I have lower decat and Trial exh so expecting to make 0.9-1.0bar anyway, regardless of boost controller. Can anyone switch theirs off please and see what "stock" reading you get please? Basically I'm trying to determine esxactly what boost pressures at different settings as HKS boost gauge and DSBC are giving different readings eg DSBC Display HKS Gauge 0.98 0.7 1.03 0.9 1.12 0.95-1.0 Can anyone help on the "off" reading please as that's my first niggle!
  12. excellent thanks pete. any idea as to whether i can have more than one single run? ie alter dsbc setting and try a run at 1.2bar to just check out fuelling. (I've not driven car above 1.05bar mainly as I've not had it that long and am treating car with care, but would be happier knowing if the fuelling was ok at this higher boost level for future use/abuse)

Pete, are there any spaces left at all fo rthe 25th? i'd like to give the little beast a run will it be limited to one run each as i normally pootle round at about 1.0bar but wouldn't mind what seeing what she puts down with the dsbc cranked up a few clicks to perhaps 1.2 and just see if all is safe to do so
  14. whereabouts in the car did you put the relays chaps? as in ... did you hide them near the clusters or something similar?
  15. cheers guys, sounding good so far. forgot to mention...any idea of a part no. for the toyota bits (i have J spec 1996 but guessing this does not matter). Don't want the monkeys at toyota to stuff this order up and get it wrong. Air filter V160 oil Oil filter Diff oil Fuel filter Cam belt anything else anyone thinks is relevant thanks again
  16. Hi all, I've seen similar questions posted like this before but not really got a definitive answer on a few of them, especially diff oil. Diff. What oil should be used in the rear diff of a J spec with the LSD? What is the amount required for a refill after draining? Gearbox. I'm sure the only oil for the 6 speed box is V160 from Toyota (is this all I'd need to quote?) and exactly how much do i need, again for a refill? Engine oil. I'm sticking with the Castrol 10w60 (fully syn) unless anyone can advise me otherwise. How much is required for fill up? Air Filter Is the Toyota panel filter a sound choice for BPU spec, as I'm definately keeping the airbox for now.. any other panel type alternatives? Plugs Currently running cheap NGK's (BK7RE I think). These are being change but not sure... either the Denso IK24's or some other NGK's that are fitted by CW, that are meant to be good and last the mileage too. Can anyone identify them for me or advise alternative for BPU at no more than 1.2bar absolute max. Air Con. Any particular brand of fluid recommended or same as other air con car systems? Bolts Underneath. Heard there are some specific bolts that should be checked as part of good service...anyone point me in the right direction and give correct torque setting?
  17. i think it's in the technical section somewhere...a full step by step "method" of how to do it from start to finish. i took my airbox out to make life easier but i don't think it's totally necessary- i was having a good look round under the bonnet anyway so didn't mind.

  21. Hi Chaps, I need a bit of quick advice regarding the jap headlamp lenses. Got the lights stripped apart, inner piece sprayed and sorted but having a bit of trouble with the actual clear plastic/polycarbonate lenses. They have a “murky” almost greenish haze on them and basically look cr@p. Tried some T-Cut and Blue Neilsons on there which helped but they’re by no means sparkling. What is the best product/method to use to get these back to a nice clear sparkle?? Please hit me with some ideas asap…….thanks all Dan

  24. Does anyone know if the inner piece (the one that is painted and has the chrome rings) is available to buy brand new? Or any idea of the part no. price etc etc Thanks all, much appreciated
