  1. Thanks Steve, Certainly looks the same although mine looked more "golden" and "multicoloured" than that. (Great description I know). Off to Halfords tomoz then.
  2. Hi All, Can anyone tell me the id no. for one of the above please? Are these available from somewhere like Halfords? If not where can I get one (or a pair) from? Cheers Dan
  3. Hi Guys, I have to be honest I didn't read all this thread it was just too damn long. Be nice to meet up with you all. I line near Gloucester Ash (have to meet up sometime when you are up). I also know of Wilfman who lives nearby too. Where and when is this proposed meet going to be and what time are people planning to get there? Cheers Dan Edit: Sorry people, just checked the postcode and this place is bllody miles from me. I thought it was in Oxford, sorry.
  4. Hi all, I was wondering about using a lightened stock flywheel instead of something like the Fedanza (sp?), anyone ever done so? I know it's a two piece damped flywheel but that in itself surely does not rule out lightening, although I haven't looked at one in detail. Physically mounting the thing on a lathe may be impossible owing to its construction. Also if the stock assembly is approaching the safe limit for material in critical areas then further material removal may be 7000rpm timebomb territory! Just considering how a "slightly" lighter stocker may be more appreciated than a rattling fully lightweight. Dan

    gearbox price?

And not a lot of money for a 6 speed, CW !! I'd almost buy one for £200 in case i needed it in the future for some reason!
  6. I am sure I've never had any warning lights on. Drove home last night in the fog and i don't remember seeing any!!
  7. I'm not 100% sure about what method you have used, but now (as in diagram) i dont get any warning lights. Hope this helps Dan
  8. Yeh they're nice looking alright. Bit out of my price range at the moment though after xmas!!! I fabricated one for my last car that certainly did the job and looked tidy enough in the engine bay. Peeing down with rain here now so can't even go out and have a look under the bonnet!! Wez: Your inbox is full
  9. I'm runnung an Apexi BOV in the same location as your intended hks and also i still have the stock bov in place. What's the supposed problem with the stock one still in place?
  10. Very interesting, I'll be following that thread very closely. Great to see pics of their work too - makes it much more interesting.
  11. Cheers Darren I've just been too lazy to go out and have a proper look under the bonnet, plus it's been bloody cold here these last few days. I suspected the crankcase may be vented throught the casting to the cam covers but thought i'd see if anyone knew otherwise. I'll have a nose around tomorrow to see. Also (Again not looked yet so could be totally wrong) but if the breathers were fed to intake before I.C. then this may add to the oil film on the inside of the core - just a thought.
  12. So where are the breather pipes fed back into the intake system? And is it just from the cam cover area or are there some breather pipes from lower down in the crankcase too?

    det.

Justin any news on the PowerFC, price availabilityt mapping time etc Eyefi....did you get it sorted??
  14. Well surely any oil in the intake charge will have the effect of decreasing the octane of the fuel mixture. Hence det limit increased albeit by a small amount by removal of that oil mist.
  15. Well people, another old thread to resurrect... Where are all the breathers on the 2JZ, anyone know off hand. At the moment its too late for me to go and look under the bonnet and i can't remember. Is it just those from the cam covers? Anything specal/complicated about 2JZ breather system or can these be directed straight to a catch can via some hose. Anything to push the detonation threshold away!! Dan
  16. Mine squeak under light braking too (uk spec). Had front pads changed for CW's ones and front and rear still squeak!!
  17. Eyefi, when you say it can be mapped what exactly do you mean? I got the impression you could purchase a Mines ecu with the injectors and it will be custom mapped to those injectors. I didn't think anybody could (aftermarket) map the Mines unit in the UK, is this not the case. If that is true then fitting a SAFC or similar would not be required when upgrading injectors in a car with the Mines ecu. Thanks for the reply, Dan
  18. Did you get a reply dude, or ever make that phonecall??
  19. Thanks for the reply Ian, much appreciated. Mine are grey and I have no resistor pack anywhere so unless by some major fluke there are some high impedence grey 550's about then I'm on 440's. Highly doubtful I was considering the underfuelling question regarding Mines and 440's but am not sure if all they're ecu's are mapped for 550's or if it was an option. I did ask dude about his change to 550's so keen to see what he says. At 1.09 bar boost my actual afr followed this rough pattern: 2000 14.7 3000 14.2 3500 13.5 3750 11.5 4000 12.2 4500 11.2 5000 11.3 6000 11.2 7000 11.1 Definately not lean at all under boost and this is with stock pump and regulator. Bit of headroom left for boost increase to 1.2 bar which is reassuring.
  20. Hey dude, Did you get to the bottom of your rich start up problem? Temp sender, o2 sensor ?? When you fitted the 550's did they need much "trimming" with the safc for idle/low speed? The reason I ask is you have the MInes ecu don't you, which I was told was mapped for 550's anyway. Any ideas?
  21. Are UK and JDM injectors physically identifiable other than by colour? UK 550cc - Lilac JDM 440cc - Grey Is it possible that a set of Grey injectors could actually be the larger size or is the coulour a totally reliable i.d. method? Can anyone give me some i.d. no's off uk injectors to see how they differ to jdm specs. I understand the Mines ecu has handle the larger injectors but am not sure if all Mines equipped cars should and do indeed have the larger injectors. Anyone with a Mine's ecu care to tell me their inj colour?
  22. Hey Ash, Hope it all gets sorted soon mate and goes without any problems. As for Abbey reading the thread and getting annoyed with you...that seems a bit off to me. If I was spending £3k on something I didn't know that much about then I'd be asking as many questions as possible to as many reputable and trusted people as possible. On the other hand thay do have a fairly good reputation especially with the Nissan boys so I'm sure you'll ahve no problems. Good luck mate. Let us know how it's going, and if it bothers you just don't put anything "opinionated" in your posts then surely they can't complain to you about it. Dan
  23. Steve I've just come in from doing my rear light modifications this evening. I did it so all 4 act as rear lights and brakes, but inner two also act as fogs when required. Used the wiring diagram provided by Pete: http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/TRL/fcon.html Best give that a go if you want fully functioning setup. Sorry didn't reply to pm regarding susp, been mega busy...will do in a mo.

    Turbo;s

Hybrids for the new year then!
  25. OK thanks Chris, seems that noone is really clued up on them at all. Shift lamp is obvious enough, timing signal from ecu and adjustable led lighting point. I actually quite like it, set around 5.5k atm. All I can assume is that the other box is the de-limiter, and there's no way that's coming out!! By the way Chris, the car now makes 1.0bar w/o b.controller (0.7 before). The "tinkle tinkle" sound (under boost) has gone (loose bits in cat), the exhaust is considerably louder and so is the turbo spooling sound. I think those ceramic bits and the cat itself were a major restriction as car now flies up the rev range and genuinely feels quicker than before. I am comparig 1.0bar with bc off to a "forced" 1.15bar with bc on and cat in. I'm convinced this is quicker and more powerful and considerably less boost. Much appreciated. Brakes are still squeaking tho (front and rear) any ideas?
