  1. Hi all, I am currently insured withAdrian Flux (on modified RZ) and my cover runs out in about three weeks. I am going to shop around again to see if I can get any joy elsewhere. Could you possibly post up the names and addresses of your insurers and if possibly a contact name you may have dealt with? This is so I can send my modification details to them in writing rather than trying to explain to some muppet overthe phone who thinks a boost gauge addds 50bhp! Thanks guys, I look forward to your replies, much appreciated. Dan
  2. Nice one, thanks for clearing that up Matt. Bit of a shame about the harness plugs, really I'd like some sort of harness so connection/removal is straightforward and does not pose issues with damaging existing wiring. I'd better get hunting for a harness too then!
  3. I take it that is the Profec E-01 Matt? I read on Mohd's site somewhere that the E-01 cannot be used for boost control, only for setting up E-Manage, is this correct? Perhaps it was referring to the E-01 as a standalone boost controller rather than when connected with the E-Manage? Did you see the harness pic I attached? I believe hpf sell one very similar, not sure about anyone in the UK doing them though, fancy a go at doing some Matt? Just waiting on Tel now for some prices (on different setups) and as long as it's ok insurance wise I think I'll go for it.
  4. Terry, You've got my email address (AEM, AUtronic and Greddy discussions..?) I did send you a full spec of my car a week or so ago on first email, I'm happy to email you again but need to know what you want to know. Did you see the thread I posted in the Voortex section re. this? Also just sent you a pm..
  5. I'm pretty much sold I think, cheers guys. Prices people prices
  6. Thanks Ian, glad you are getting there. Am I right in thinking you can install the Emanage (as long as you do nothing else) set it up for outr car, make no changes and everything will work as stock? Similar to the SAFC's? Have you noticed any performance benefits or are you purely at the stage of ironing out problems?
  7. Ian, I'm glad you are happy with it as I believe you shared some of my initial reservations regarding the fact that is still relies on an airflow fudge factor. What did you gor for, inj and ign harnesses, extra map sensor and harness, E-01? Did you splice onto wires around ecu or get hold of some sort of harness as below? http://www.fantomfibrecations.com/main/projects/emanage_harness/ Any performance benefit? What was your main reason for fitting it, was it mainly to control larger injectors and added features were a bonus?
  8. Has anyone actually fitted an Emanage to the mkiv yet? Did Pete Betts ever fit and map one? Has Matt H looked at the installation yet, I heard Matt was looking into it to iron out any electrical installation glitches? I am currently trying to decide on ems route and the Emanage seems a perfect gap filler between SAFC and AEM. For my current and near future modifications it may be just what I need. ALL input appreciated......
  9. Any chance of a copy of the software Mark so I can have a nose through and see what we may be up against!
  10. Cheers all, Is the wideband needed to feedback to the ecu or purely for user display and mapping purposes? The reason I ask is that I have a wideband kit and display already which i can use to datalog and monitor. I'm not sure if it is compatible with the aem for feedback purposes though. Any idea which O2 sensors are compatible? Is there some form of correction factor table in the aem software for different O2 sensors?
  11. I say stick to comparing hub figures, don't try to compare from one set of rollers to another, and if you're being really really picky only comparisons done on the same day/morning hold true meaning. If I had to be conservative when someone asked me, I'd add 10 maybe 11% to the figure from the Thor Dyno...at most. This is in a manual, auto maybe slightly more. Just make sure you stick with the same dyno after carrying out different mods and then at leat you've got a relative idea what you've achieved with all the £££ ploughed into the car.
  12. Thanks Tony. I realise there is a bit of a tuning slog involved, all part and parcel of a standalone. I was more concerned with problems than setup although I appreciate that can indeed be troublesome. I assume you are now running stock turbos, 6 speed, what sort of boost are you running and what size injectors and fuel pump? I'm guessing there must be a few stock/bpu Supras around now on the AEM so I'm hoping if I go down this route I may be able to turn to you guys for help with tuning base map to suit or at least comparing certain setup values in the software ?? Any noticeable performance over stock Tony (although you've gone to a 6 speed haven't you so..obviously ) Perhaps we could meet up one evening now you've got it all sorted i don't think I'm too far from you. Anyone else care to throw any info this way?
  13. Hi All, I am looking for as much information as possible regarding the AEM ecu as I am considering fitting one, as opposed to something along the lines of the E-Manage. Been reading a lot over on the AEM forum and was a little put off by the amount of problems people seem to be having. There are also people there running perfectly with no problems of course I know there's a few people her running the AEM, Paul W, Wez, Tony L, fisherjohn..... Any chance on some feedback chaps, genuine opinions on the ecu related to items like performance gains, idle quality, ease of setup, stock features such as air con, issues with warning lights, use of traction control as opposed to racelogic, any long term problems or niggles etc etc I am running stock turbos with a normal bpu mods plus fuel pump and a few other goodies. Manual 1996 RZ. All input apprecviated as I need to make a decision fairly soon - whrther to go for it or wake up and spend or save my money more sensibly!!!!
  14. Thanks for the input so far guys much appreciated. Anyone else got an opinion on 285 35's instead of 275 35's on and 18 x 10 rear wheel? Not worried about speedo reading, that's not even off the rear wheels is it?
  15. I am almost due for a pair of rear tyres now and currently have 275 35 18 Toyo Proxies T1-S on. Looking at the rim itself I don't think it would be out of the way to fit a 285 or maybe a 295 (possibly pushing it a bit! rather than the current 275. Has anyone had any actual experience with trying tyres of different sizes on the rears? For the sake of spending £250 odd I figured if possible and with no detrimental effects I may as well try for a bit more rubber. Not sure on brand yet, found Toyos and Eagles F1's to be pretty good so far. Is there enough weight over the rear of the car to prevent any possible aquaplaning issues with a wider tyre and do you think they'd still get up to operating temperature easy enough under normal driving? I think the stock size was 255 or 265 wasn't it? Any opinions? Thanks Dan
  16. I looked into this about 2 weeks ago. I found a company that do all of Aston MArtin, Porsche and Jags refurbs and apparently all the other companies such as Spit n Polish etc pass split rims on to these guys. I'll type another reply later as very busy now. Wheels go to Germany to be done (clear powder coat over polished rim section) as part of the process for split rim refurb can't be done here. Bad news was the price... £1250 + vat, or £1300 + vat if centre was coloured and not silver. Will post back again soon but apparently the finish would put most car bodywork to shame...
  17. Hi all, Totally forgot about this till somebody at work reminded me about it. I'll be coming down the M5 but will be aiming to get there early. Not got a ticket or anything yet so hope this won't be a problem. Keep a look out for me, Gunmetal with gold wheels. Fingers crossed for some sunshine....
  18. I am trying to decide between a Greedy 3 row and a Blitz LM V Spec. Does anyone have any meaningful information on the two and/or any first hand experience with either? The 3 row seems very highly rated in the US but mainly as the LM V Spec seems more expensive over there. As many photos as possible would be appreciated especially of pipework installed in cars etc Thanks Dan
  19. Cheers Terry, Will do. Are these pumps brand new, and identical to the 341's sold by all the traders here? Anythng nasty/complicated about this install or is it a physical swap ie connectors the same, pipe/union sizes etc? This is of course assuming I keep the 9v/12v switching Thanks
  20. Terry, Who is "we"? I am after a Walbro kit (I presume this includes 341 pump, relay, wiring and instructions?) Does that price include VAT? Delivery? What payment methods do you accept and how soon could I have one? pm me if this thread isn't suitable for pricing etc Thanks a lot Dan
  21. Hopefully with some decent ducting you may see some gains, or at least stop performance falling as the underbonnet temperatures rise. And yes, this applies to the turbocharged cars too. This has been witnessed on Pete Bett's dyno by at least one owner on the bbs maybe more. I personally have stuck with the stock airbox and intend to do so unless I opt for the single/twin turbo route. A well ducted and sealed cold air intake with a good filter may yield some results but personally I feel there are other areas where money can be better spent ingaining performance. This may not be quite as true for the NA owners. Be nice if you did a back to back comparison on the dyno of stock vs modified.
  22. The gains were on turbocharged cars not normally aspirated and the same gains would not necessarily be seen on a NA. Also, once you factor in underbonnert temperatures i think you'll find you're more likely to be losing 10-15bhp on anything but the coolest of days. If you spent some time constructing an isolated cool air box and ducting then you may well see some small gains. However you'd then be looking at a pretty much stock setup wouldn't you. Stock intake is hard to beat, unless your main aimis more induction noise and underbonnet looks. If you must change something then there's always a replacement panel filter.
  23. I have it listed with my insurers as one of my modifications.
  24. I was told that the light clunk you can hear and "feel" when coming gently on or off the throttle was the dual mass flywheel heading for retirement by CW. It's the sort of clunk that I'm not sure a passenger would notice but as the driver you definitely do. I can get it in any of the lower gears coming on or of the throttle gently, almost feels as if there's a little bit of play/movement in the propshaft or something in that general area. Do these sound like similar symptoms chaps? Funny how you have a new flywheel Paul and still get it, maybe my flywheel is not "showing its age" afterall. Either that or your's has had some accelerated ageing! Dan
  25. I certainly did Terry, yes. They look very impressive. Any idea on UK distributors for these? How about cost? I think if I go with any kit with solid top mounts then I'll have to fit pair of strut braces, to save on my bodyshell more than anything else. Do you currently have these JIC's on your car? What ARB's are you running and have you fitted any strut braces?
