  1. 342: These pics at least help show the physical differences between the 2 pumps.
  2. I see where you are coming from, with the info Terry posted. I personally don't think that is quite right though. People seem to have gotten a bit confused over the Walbro pumps lately. The 341 and 342 are both totally suitable for the Supra with regards to flowrate and pressure. As long as the flowrate supplied by the pump is sufficient to generate pressure in the system greater than the fpr setting then the fpr is what controls the rail pressure. (- Assuming it has the flow capacity to do so but in this case we can certainly assume it does.) The 341 will not sit correctly in a facelift jap car pump hanger and I think that is the case for all jap cars. 342 is the one for a Jap car. 341 attached:
  3. Added yes, not changed anything though. (Before I read your post in case you were wondering) The orientation of elec/fuel connections is different between 341 and 342. No difference if flowrate or pressure.
  4. I don't get your point Jake? I know the 342 is a straight swap. Have you tried fitting a 341 though?
  5. No different, just orientation of fuel outlet and electrical connectors. Had a thread posted in the Vortex section but it seems to have been deleted??? Mods? I'll find a link to the info elsewhere and post it up tomoz or pm you it mate. I believe for jap Supra you want the 342 and I think you can fit the 341 if you have a uk spec. Depends on layout of fuel pump hanger in the tank. Dan
  6. Good point Simon... This are the clamps I'll be after very soon, thanks for letting everyone know. Also thanks for email and pics, nice one
  7. Thanks for all the replies again chaps, when I get home later I'll post up a summary of all cam specs info has been brought up on. Ian and Mark... Any back to back dyno testing? Any real performance gains? What actual difference have the cams made? Mohd has told me to stay away from cam swaps unless on a mid size single pushing well over 500bhp.
  8. See Ash, Getting a few decent pointers now mate. Fair play I know wht you mean about wafflein threads when all you want is good technical advice. I do not have a NA but I suppose all standard NA tuning applies here. Air Intake (cold air feed where possible or shielded from heat as a minmum) Properly sized free flowing exhaust manifold Cat removal Correctly sized exhaust system Gas flowed cylinder head Possibly larger valves depending on goals Close attention to porting around valve throat and seat Polished combustion chambers Inlet manifold tidied up (depending on how rough it is internally) Removal of manifold heating Camshafts (again depends on outright goals but on a 3litre motor you can afford to go fairly wild without a huge trade off in low speed torque) Lightened and fully balanced internals, pulley and flywheel assembly Prorammable ecu (Motec, DTA, or similar) Has anyone ever ran the NA on throttle bodies, any idea if there's any gains over the plenum chamber setup with its fancy runner length assembly. I would have thought that on anything less than an all out race engine the "stock based" runners and plenum would be sufficient. Not sure on the safe rev limit of the bottom end, may be worth having a word with CW. I'd imagine no more than 7500 max without turning attention to the rods and bolts at least. I have no idea what sort of revs/power the stock pistons are safe to but this all depends if you're heading towards high rpm tuning. Big £££'s if that's the case. Dan
  9. Thanks Paul, I'll give them a look over mate. Does anyone know the actual duration of any of the HKS or JUN cams 50 thou off the seat?
  10. Hi all, Can anyone post up some specs (and perhaps pm me some prices) for these cams? Does anyone have any first hand experience with any of these cams? I'm looking for as much technical info as possible on 256, 264 and 272 cams from both manufacturers. Lift? Duration (are the names ie 264 recorded at 0.050" off the seat)? Timing? Overlap with different combinations and timing settings? Are adjustable cam gears necessary for fine tuning on the dyno or are there known timing figures for these cams to suit a bpu spec car whereby an offset key would suffice? If you have fitted these, have you remapped accordingly to suit or just fired the cams in and hoped for the best? Any real dyno comparisons from this country, not just US bs? Thanks Dan
  11. Sorry Scott, I can't help with either of those mate. If it were me I'd be on the phone to CW to pick his brains about where to go next. There's lots of different opinions on this and nobody seems to have cured the problem completely. The cause may be due to tolerances in oilways in that area and in the pump itself. This could go some way to explaining why some (hard driven) cars don't have a problem and other mild bpu specs like yours do???? I personally wouldn't use two springs in either seal.
  12. A small amount of oil loss through your turbos will not be a problem to the fms. Excessive blow by past the piston rings may well be though. But yours is a new motor and as long as you ran it in correctly you shouldn't have a problem there if all else is ok (ie not stupidly rich fuelling). Perhaps it may be worth going for the replacement seal BH4513E as opposed to the toyota BH4513F, as this is supposed to help combat the blocking of the oil drain by the stock seal. I hope you get it sorted, as I say I have never had it happen and am just throwing ideas up for discussion. I assume you don't hammer it until the car has warmed up properly?
  13. From what I've read (a while ago) there seems to be an unlucky assortment of engines that seem to struggle with the front main seal. Seems a lot more common in the US but probably because there's so many Supras over there. I think it may just be a bad tolerance stack up on the sealing faces and the crankshaft. A raised rev limit has been suggested as a contributor but I assume yours is stock? I think the most information you will find on it will be SF as opposed to here purely due to numbers. Maybe give Chris Wilson a buzz and ask his opinion. It seems the installation has to be absolutely spot on to guarantee any chance even before you delve into shortening the spring/different seal etc. I have a feeling Dude also had a front seal go, have you tried him? This has never happened on my engine (touches wood) so I cannot offer any first hand information. Any idea whether you are suffering from excessive ring blow by? Intercooler pipes oily at all? Was the car run in on reasonable grade oil to allow rings to bed in nicely before going to fully synthetic? Perhaps some larger bore breather pipes and a catch can may help if you have excessive blow by. However on a new engine if all was correct during running in I doubt it. Sorry I can't be of any more help, but this may stir up some more replies? Dan
  14. What sort of modifications have you got engine wise? Stock boost, stock rev limit?
  15. Cheers mate, Nice one. I wouldn't mind seeing what the ride is like with the JIC's so we'll have to meet up sometime. Keep me posted how you get on with fitting/setting up etc
  16. Jay, So now you've finally decided and got these...does this mean I'm going to be hearing from you soon regarding some of your now, unused parts? remember ? Dan
  17. On a flat road I'd say you'd be damn unlucky, unless you clipped a kerb/embankment/small dog etc etc
  18. dandan

    Fancyplates

Me too. Two sets in all. First class.
  19. dandan

    Who needs two ...

I'm not sure if it helps but the oil feed/drain doesn't have to be exactly vertical. It can go up to about 10 degrees either side of vertical. you may know this anyway...not trying to tell you how to suck eggs or anything

  21. I know there's a few threads about insurance. The reason for this thread was i was aking for any contact names and the postal address of any companies. That way I could post a modificationb form to the company to save going through the process of trying to explain modifications to some muppet over the phone. Got about 5 to speak to now which may be of use, will post up progress........
  22. Thank you Attilauk, I will give them a ring. Any pointers on how they fare with models (RZ GZ etc) and any mods you know they dislike such as boost controllers? Anyone else got any contact details for suitable insurer on modified import RZ and under 25??
  23. Come on guys, help me out here??
