  1. Ian C runs a good 600bhp on his stock internals (not cams though) and has done 000's of miles on that setup to date Stock bottom end is by no means ideal for max reliability or performance but with careful conservative mapping you should be ok on pump fuel power outputs in a road car. Take things steady on the rolling road and see how she goes as you gradually increase the boost pressure. Sensible steady mapping and a safe tune is a large part of the battle
  2. Assuming they press in (by hand) from the outer face of the wheel can you tell me what size wheel hole they will fit. Asking on behalf of my brother...
  3. Just replied to you Niall and also added another pic to first post for everybody.
  4. Niall - thanks for the email, I will reply to you later this evening hopefully (not easy being Valentine's Day though - restricted Supra time!!) Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated. The seats are OEM Recaros, yes. Much more comfortable and supportive than the usual offererings
  5. Significantly more, which is why the blanket statement banded around by people of "no more than 1.4bar on pump fuel" seems very odd to me. It depends on turbo, cams, static comp ratio, cam timing, gasket thickness, deck height, squish, piston cooling, coatings, fuelling, ign timing and spark energy, intercooling, manifold and turbine housing sizing, water injection.....to mention just a few things. It's not the extra pressure rise (say 35psi max) over the combustion pressure but the related issues of all the extra airflow being pumped through the motor that is the issue. Someone may be able to run 1.6bar all day long on Optimax, someone else running a different setup and even a LOWER compression ratio (if other things are not correct) may det at anything over 1.2bar. It all depends on the individual setup. My 0.02p worth. Choose a skilled mapper who you trust!
  6. I've added some more pictures to the first post to save me emailing them to the people who asked for them. Also wanted to add the car will be available for viewing in Gloucestershire. Sorry about when you were after the car Chrstian, I thought you'd lost interest and then I was away from the forums for ages and missed a few posts and pm's from people. I do like your current car though. Thanks for the comments guys, you're making me want to keep it even more!
  7. Well, it looks like I'm going to be selling my car people so here she is. The spec is below along with some photos. Nobody else touches the car. Mileage 84,000 Car Imported 2000 I’ve owned for last 3 years or so. This is a well cared for car owned by a genuine Supra enthusiast who knows how to correctly maintain for these machines. The car made 376bhp and 364lbft at the hubs (running a more restrictive Trial exhaust) and is faster than both the BPU vvti 6 speeds in my family. This is a strong car, cracking performance and anyone who sees it will not be disappointed. As I said, any questions - don't hesitate to email me. Thanks Dan
  8. I think Phoenix can do the leak down test for you, not sure how close they are to you though You could try a drive with the oil filler cap "kind of" off. This would give you plenty breathing ability (ruling out the PCV being shagged) but I don't know how much misty oil you might get blown out of there. Also you'd want to be careful of anything getting in there. What about fixing a piece of gauze over the hole and go for a drive without the cap. I'm not convinced it's the PCV but it would be a nice easy fix. I'm just throwing ideas out to help rule things out here..... Did you speak to TurboTechnics or Turbodynamics at all? Assuming it is a Garrett core then these guys should be able to repair or at least check it..
  9. Fair point Charlie but I thought the stock gasket (untorqued) was 1.6mm - making it the same as Jake's. Can anyone confirm this?
  10. I would say rings as well going from the smoking scenarios you said Jake. I also think your 145psi is a little on the low side. Why not get a proper leakdown test done, that should tell you a lot.
  11. My thoughts exactly, could even be done just for trackdays when oil temps should be consistently high...
  12. dandan

    uk or jap

I would (and did) choose to go with a Jap model, but it would have to be a facelift model because I prefer the external looks and the dashboard layout.
  13. Has anybody here removed the OEM oil/water cooler and gone for a large oil/air cooler to reduce some load on the cooling system? I know people have fitted oil/air coolers but has anyone removed the OEM part whilst doing this?
  14. You may well find that the fuel tank would be empty before the tyres reached their 20 or 30 minute failure time...
  15. I am jealous. Enough said....
  16. I have personal experience with TurboTechnics (currently running a pair of their turbos on my Supe) and have had no problems in about 25,000 miles and 3 years. I believe Chris Wilson uses these guys as well. Also worked with Universal Turbos in the past but that was with VNT turbos. Very helpful and informative and seemed to know their stuff. Is yours a DBB Jake? I suppose it would be nice to stick with a PHR stage 1 if you want to save on remapping (maybe worth contracting phr to see what they suggest).
  17. Just wanted to post up and say I am still watching and interested in it all. You may have said already but what intercooler are you going to be using Tony?
  18. I'm a fan of the downpipe slash cut breather system as well. If I end up running a single it will have pretty much the same breather system as that (with a few additions as well though). Related to one of jake's earlier comments, isn't the stock head gasket 1.6mm thick before being torqued down?
  19. Holy sh!t, that's quick. Any idea what your egt's were towards the end of that run and was she holding 1.25 all the time?
  20. Why would a knackered heater matrix result in coolant in the oil?
