  1. Cheers Wez - sounds like I need to try to bag a ride in your car too.... Does anyone have an email address for arnout?
  2. Did you get my pm Ryan? I think I'm still going to get the BL67DBB kit fellas - that gives me a bit of flexibility and a relatively valuable turbo in case I have to raise some cash for a 4088R or 35R before I fit the kit.
  3. Haha I was only joking fellas. I've spent a fair bit of time there as the outlaws are from Guildford. I do prefer people's driving habits and road manners a little further west though! Cheers for the swapping and arranging (Graham and Homer) I'll confirm ASAP.
  4. I'm trying to find out for definite fellas if I can make it but it depends on work commitments as I may not be around. I should know tomorrow. Assuming I can make it I'd much rather be there in the morning (earlier the better personally) so I can get home without spending whole day in Surrey !
  5. Have a good read through this...lots of useful infor and opinion. http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427200
  6. That would probably be spot on Nic but I'd then have to source/fabricate the downpipe/wastegate/recirc pipe work which at the moment I just don't have the time to do. Induction Motorsports should have carried on with their kits!
  7. Don't get the wrong impression now Homer - I didn't go speaking to Ian saying I didn't like your car or anything like that! I was trying to get him to head somewhere slightly further west of where he is now to take me for a test drive I loved every second behind the wheel and probably had a smile on my face all day after that. :D If your's has got something amiss then I guess that's only a good thing as it's only going to get faster and faster! I hope it's nothing too serious as Ian said though. I was definitely suprised at the comparison between the two cars on the road - there's definitely some truth behind the bigger power cars having to gain hard in the mid range to pull back what they lose on initial pick up. But yes, as you say - top end comparison was a little closer than I was expecting. Please don't get the wrong idea though - I was impressed and loved the car and the single noise and pull. Plus as I said, I really appreciate you letting me have a drive - that was great. I hope you didn't think I was going to fast or driving too hard though....
  8. Thanks for the posts fellas. I had a stage 1 kit some time ago but never fitted it as it looked like I might be leaving UK so was selling the car. Anyway - car is still here and right now, so am I So I took a ride in a 67DBB kitted car and I'm not 100% sure it feeds my driving needs (max performance in the 40-140 range). I know Wez's is a seriously fast spooler with that cast manifold whicj pointed me towards the PHR street kit. I think if I was going to go with a tubular setup I'd go BL as I prefer the design of the exhaust manifold. Maybe a BL kit with a GT35R 0.82 A/R or possibly a GT4088R with a 0.68 Right now I'm considering my options but will be buying in the next 10days or so...
  9. Anyone? I am considering purchasing one and would like to see some photos and also ask a few questions. Cheers Dan
  10. There's a good chance I'll be able to make it fellas - i'm looking into it now...
  11. I have a set of 550's which I had ultrasonically cleaned ready to sell to a member here. They're boxed up ready to post but we're never flow tested. You want to do that pretty close to when you're ready to fit them really so you have 100% confidence that when you drop them in they will be perfect. Oh yeah - the other member disappeared off the board so they're just sat in the box in my spare room. Shout if you're interested. £155 all in.
  12. You could run a water/alcohol injection system as well. This will allow you to boost a little higher whilst still keeping the engine nice and cool and det free. There are some problems with this - if you rely on it 100% then you can have issues if your tank runs dry or you get a blocked jet or something...
  13. OK thanks mate - I'll leave it.
  14. Paul - do you still have the injectors? Are they high impedence sidefeeds with electrical connection identical to J specs ready to drop straight in? What make are they and do you have any idea on mileage/age? Any photos?
  15. I was told it was an extra daughter board within the ecu but even so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. When you consider which wires you're connecting and what you're trying to do it sounds a little odd to me to say it wouldn't work. From memory Matt Harwood and Ian C had some issues mapping his car with the EMB and Mines ecu, maybe one of them will come along and refresh my memory!
  16. Ask away...don't worry about asking stupid questions but you will find a whole heap of info using the search function too.
  17. The hole in the wastegate is too small and cannot bypass enough exhaust gas to slow the turbines down enough to limit boost from the compressor wheels. The restrictor ring (or cats and stock exhaust) create enough restriction to limit exhaust flow through the turbine housings. Basically boost limit is not done only by the wastegate on the J spec turbos - the exhaust design compliments the wastegate function. I wouldn't fit a cat (they create and trap far too much heat), I'd put a restrictor ring (shaped like a gasket with let's say a 1.875" hole in it) between your two decat pipes. You'll have to play with the hole size to get up to the boost you want - may end up a shade over 2" diameter It's an easy mod for the safety factor you get on turbo life. And yes - they had V Power in the states before we did!!
  18. You could put a brick under the accelerator? You can run 1.2bar on V-Power or similar. Have you got something against restrictor rings? You could knock a quick one up yourself from some sheet steel....
  19. Has anyone ran an EMU with the Mines ecu successfully? I know Ian and Matt have used the EMB and Mines ecu, what about the EMU. Any thoughts? A trader told me the combo would not work but I don't see why...
  20. Sounds good. Get a wideband setup too or else the EManage is relatively useless unless you're on a rolling road.
  21. You still need a wideband lambda sensor (and associated heater circuitry etc which is built in) and you use the output from that to go to the EManage. I have never ran any aftermarkets cams with 440cc injectors. It may be that you can depending on boost levels but you definitely want a wideband in there to keep an eye on things. If you are looking a little lean on the mixture then you need bigger injectors or more fuel pressure. Putting bigger injectors in or upping the fuel pressure will mean that everywhere else on your fuel map will be really rich. Then you use the Emanage to lean the rest of the fuel map out. Does that make sense?
  22. The cars run rich as they are - very rich indeed. Some people will fit a fuel computer and use it to remove fuel, leaning the mixture out somewhere closer to 11.5 or maybe as lean as 11.8:1 when over 4000rpm and on boost. That alone will yield more power. Fitting cams will allow freer breathing at certain rpms (above 5k in this case let's say). Now it may be that the fuelling (in it's original rich state) will be sufficient for a sensible afr ratio with this greater airflow. Chances are it will not be right somewhere though. If you want to fit cams I'd make sure you have some form of wideband lambda display and sensor in place forst and also be prepared to fork out for slightly larger injectors and the ecu of your choice to run them..
