  1. I had thought of that, hmm something to take into account. Thanks.
  2. Now to source some slide refurbishment kits, anyone know of a reasonable priced full set of pins, boots, bushes etc?
  3. A little free time so here comes the breakdown on the front callipers to see where the binding issues and squealing are coming from... First off lets have a look at this suspension... oh dear, good thing some HSD's will be getting ordered soon. So this is why we have problems, 3 seized sliders, 2 non existent boots, 3 non existent bush's and two destroyed pins... Here is why it was squealing... plenty of meat left???
  4. It was a mixture of prep, alcohol, colourant, sealant and other such like goodies but I have had training in doing leather repairs. I would not advise anyone to try and recolour any leather as it can go horribly wrong.
  5. Should have been done with a rotary for the time scale I had but I had a guy let me down with the use of one. As mentioned I used to own a flex and wished I still did, this job would have been even better and took half the time! I may invest in another soon as it really needs finished off.
  6. No bother, I've just uploaded a rebuild thread to the chat (could not get direct photo uploads to work).
  7. Bought on the 21/6/15 my MK4 was in a little bit of a sorry state, the paint work is flat, the bird etchings had ate through the clear (beyond cut and polish), roof has a dent, rear quarters are rusting, drivers door is rusting, the leather steering wheel is looking worse for wear and the wheels could have done with a refurb. So, here we go. First off, here are some pics As it turned up with my son posing next to "dads fast car" if only he knew it was an NA auto!! =) Here is an example of how bad the paint is/was! After a little test rough cut with an orbital this is somewhat how it will look. Here is the steering wheel and its damaged lacquer and colour etc Here is after a small restoration of the leather (much better). I bought some Jaero alloy wheels and later fitted some Bridgestones. So I began the laborious task of cutting back the paint with the orbital (I used to own a flex rotary but back problems stopped my detailing). Here is a little view of what it looked like before and after (with the front wheels test fitted too) A little night time shot. In the day up Druridge Bay and this is how it stands today... until round two which should bring a strip down of the suspension components and refurb the brake system.
  8. I used to do detailing mate. Once I upload the pics you will be able to see. I'll come down to the Team Valley one as my lass is working late. (please excuse the squeaking brakes when I pull in, the car is gonna get a full tear down.
  9. Just from Gateshead mate. It looks alright from a distance but the bird etchings on the bonnet, dent in the roof and rear quarters rusting away let it down. I detailed it all day Saturday as the car looked grey and flat. I'll do a build thread when I can figure out how to become a fully fledged member lol!
  10. I should have looked on here before turning up guys. I ended up on a car park away from everyone, I rolled past in my dog (only owned 6 days), I walked passed and was going to introduce myself but you guys seemed to be chatting so didn't want to bother you, some nice supras there.
  11. I am wanting this car as an occasional day out kind of vehicle, will the polybush make it too firm? I don't want a crashy ride etc. If I choose to go oem or equivalent are the parts easy to source? The bonus with the polybush is I can buy a full kit and be done with it. Is there any full kits available for front and rear in equivalent?
  12. I know what you guys are saying there will be more spent on it than its worth but making money isn't the goal. I want a new supra made by me for me. I'll keep you all updated with the progress, can I post into projects as a new thread or with me being new the option isn't available? I just couldn't find it earlier (maybe because I'm using my phone.
  13. Hi guys, the car is my first supra, it's a beautiful thing but requires... New coilovers (any suggestions for great ride quality and cornering) Full bush kit (don't think I'll go down the polyurethane bush route as I like a comfortable ride) Two rear quarters and a full shoot of paint, New headlight (drivers side) Interior wants fully stripped and reassembled as it rattles and creaks like crazy. I've also got plans to either turbo it (na auto) and manual or to 1uz and Manual. Or am I just dreaming?
