  1. I think that some sealants are acidic and corrosive to paint and metal so they would not be a good idea to use as described.

    N/A misfire

If N/A auto and not had ECU repaired it would definitely be worth checking.
  3. Was there not a guy on here from Holland? that did an ITB engine install etc. a year or so back? It was a silver car - I recall that much. I liked it a lot.
  4. As per title I have a wheel trim that is missing the sprung wire that holds it in place. Anyone with a complete trim or just the wire available? See pic. Cheers.
  5. Welcome. Sounds like a challenge, but you are in the right place.
  6. Oh yeah! It is that one. I hope the video isn't in those 60 odd pages of thread.
  7. I think the driver was following track day rules. At least I hope that explains the lack of excitement.
  8. No idle speed problems now. I just reversed what the garage did as a way around the previous issue cased by the faulty ECU.
  9. Sorted by adjusting the throttle cable adjustment screw (circled). Should've known all along. Thanks.
  10. I should be able to find that! Thanks.
  11. I've had a lot of work on my N/A engine and had the ECU repaired. Between the two the garage adjusted the idle in an effort to keep the engine running whilst the ECU fault was there. Now that the ECU is fine I need to reverse the adjustment. They have told me it's a screw on the throttle body but I can't see it and can't find any help in the archives. Due to the above reasoning, I am very confident that nothing else is required. The car runs perfectly otherwise. Thanks in advance.
  12. Not easy to come by - for the NA Auto.
  13. I think I would still get yours checked by an ECU specialist. At least open them up and have a look for leaking capacitors.
  14. In my limited experience the common issue is one of the capacitors leaking. If you open up the ECU I think you can see the leak(s) and consequent damage. Some failures seem to be easier to repair than others. I think you should be able to get your unit tested with a good level of certainty of diagnosis.

    Hello

I had a GS430 for a while. Traded it for an estate, but I actually miss that car almost daily.
  16. I have now had my ECU repaired by Avilec Ltd on the Isle of Wight. Total cost £312 - gulp. Apparently multiple capacitors had to be replaced and tracks repaired. In the month I have been looking, I have only heard of the possibility of one used ECU - and that was £250. Any used ECU is likely to need repair if not done already. This repair comes with a 2 year guarantee, which seems quite reasonable.
  17. Has this failed to sell again?
  18. It's a stretch of the imagination - granted. So is putting an inter-cooler on an N/A
  19. Alternatively, entire engine swapped prior to handing over for salvage?
  20. That's so much cheaper than I am being quoted. Maybe for a different level of repair? I have had it rejected as unrepairable one - They would have charged about £120. I have two new quotes based on pictures of the damaged area in mine. One is $300 (USA) and £250 from a UK ECU repairer. I have not yet found a used working replacement, but have heard of one that may be available for £250. Based only on other ECUs available, I would have thought it worth more like £125? Anyway, my thinking at the moment is that I would rather get mine repaired thoroughly as surely all the used one will suffer the same fate eventually?
  21. Just posting here hoping to spark some news of any progress with this issue. My N/A Auto ECU has been deemed beyond repair, so I am looking for a replacement that is either fully functioning or repairable. Any remotely economic alternative replacement ECUs become available in the past couple of years?
  22. Ecutechnologies were unable to repair my ECU, although they were good otherwise. so.... I am looking for a used ECU - of course it has to be the right one for N/A Auto. I am told that the part is not available new anymore. Any other ideas?
