  1. Sorry but coming from working within the public sector. This is a glimpse of what could happen if you cut back the wrong departments. Unfortunately if you reduce numbers, some will slip through intelligence. I hope there's an end to this madness.
  2. Possibly, but that car I've used and showing as a TURBO rather than what it should be is an import.. I may have to speak with an importer to see if they register it as that etc
  3. I'm not as sure, I put a plate in as an import and still came up as a turbo rather than RZ Twin Turbo etc. It can't just be one database, the pictures are from a comparison website. My only logical thinking is when they're registered in a UK, perhaps sometimes they are put down as a Turbo rather than RZ etc..
  4. The main reason I've observed this was because the difference between insurance quotes, it had thrown me quite a bit. It wasn't until I really checked through it thoroughly that I noticed. I've looked on an insurance website and selected "don't know registration plate" and these are details;
  5. Guys, I'm just trying to clarify some details and that I've noticed, and perhaps others have noticed. To make this a simple as I can this is my example; - You have two cars, both are exactly the same (in this case lets say a Toyota Supra TT6 Import) - for the example, vehicle 1 has a registration plate of "1" and vehicle 2 has a registration plate of "2" Starting the insurance quote you put in "1", press confirm and the vehicle comes up "Toyota Supra 3.0L TURBO", you confirm it's imported etc and you receive a insurance quote of lets say £800 Now using "2" as the registration plate, press confirm, bare in mind they are exactly the same cars (for our example), and instead of "Toyota Supra 3.0 TURBO" coming up.. "Toyota Supra 3.0 RZ Twin Turbo" comes up. Now this seems to be happening with different Supra's I put through as an insurance quote, despite being all the same cars essentially they are coming up slightly varied as models on the insurance. The reason I'm asking this, is because there's a variation in the insurance quote. Vehicle "1" will come out around £1000 cheaper than "2". Does anyone know why this is, have any of you noticed the same? I apologise if to some this doesn't make sense but it's the easiest way I could describe it. Kind Regards, Jordan
  6. Thanks for that, that post I think really raises some valid points I haven't thought to consider about. I'll definitely look further at insurance on imports, I haven't done any thorough research to be honest. Hopefully it turns out positive! Really appreciate everyone's feedback so far![GRIN][/GRIN]
  7. Firstly the reason I'm limiting myself to a UK spec supra is the massive difference in insurance for me, I've only recently turned 20 and there's over £2500 difference in insurance between a UK spec and Import which is frustrating. To the above about that blue supra, I've noticed exactly the same. It's been on there for a long time and has had 3 different price tags. At one point it was up for £18,995. The black one is new, looks nice from the outside but I would like some time with it to check underneath and test drive it, especially with its mileage. I did see the white UK spec supra for sale on this forum but I only saw it a week ago after it had been sold, I would've happily paid more than the asking price for it. I've set a £14k budget but happy to pay more on a mint example. I'm in no rush to buying one, I'm happy to be picky on what I'm looking for and feel the patience will pay off, and be worth it.
  8. Afternoon, I'm currently browsing the forums at looking buying a supra, waiting patiently for one to come up in the spec I'm after which is a UK Spec Twin Turbo 6 Speed, budget of £14k. I had all intentions of buying one towards September, October time but I am happy to buy one prior to this and let it sit in a garage for a while until my insurance is due for renewal. I frequently look at pistonheads and auto trader as well, and have seen cars that I'm after, however I've tried to do some research on the seller, which is a garage but can't find much. And I don't particularly want to do a 10 hour round trip to see these two cars, and be offered bad customer servicing or in poor condition. These are the two vehicles; http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/toyota/supra/rare-uk-twin-turbo-manual-6-speed-mint-example/1387371 http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/toyota/supra/very-rare-black-uk-twin-turbo-manual-6-speed-only-one-owner-from-new/4168884 I was wanting to know if anyone has had any interaction with this company? If you have, what was the garage like, what experience did you have? I have sent an email to the company making enquiries and had no response, I've also called them but the male I spoke didn't seem enthusiastic and didn't have much detail to hand. And yes, I will be paying my £10 so I can start looking at what you're all selling:innocent:
  9. Thanks! I've only ever sat in a supra idle so a ride in one would be amazing.
  10. I like your sense! Ideally this is what I wanted to do, pick up a TT then learn to drive it on a track. I know a few have said it's a tail happy car but I really won't be hooning on roads, there's only a time and place for that style of driving. I just want it to be my pride a joy! Plus I will be modifying it, so I don't want to have to spend on two different cars! One question. What is BPU? Not used much jargon!
  11. I'd love to mate! Let me know when it's up and running again?
  12. They are nice cars, I only bought it because of insurance purposes! Is there anything that has something on a supra?
  13. Thanks all for the feedback! I don't thankfully drive a corsa 1.2 anymore. I have the newer Fiesta ST stage one(220bhp). I find my fiesta has plenty of power and certainly surprises other drivers with it's power! I have considered a NA but it's something I'll have a think about. I live in the Maidstone area The Raven. Also to answer Mike2JZ question, the £12k is for the car alone. Fuel isn't a worry because the car will only be doing around 3-4k mileage max a year which is easily affordable from the MPG you get and also maintenance isn't an issue either thankfully!
  14. Been working hard over the last few years! Sounds excellent, my current car will look out of place however
  15. Thanks for the welcome! I have looked at UK spec and import and there is not a huge difference between the two. Ideally I want a UK Spec as you rightly said it holds it's value better, which is one thing that I want to make happens! Haven't dismissed the auto just yet!
  16. Hi everyone, I thought I would post to say hello being new to the MKIVSupra forum! I'm 19 years of age and from Kent, looking at buying my boyhood dream car of a supra! (First fell in love at the age of 6 when the first fast and furious came out). I soon turn 20 at that's the age my insurance becomes something I'm willing to pay, around the £2k mark, I know this is in reality expensive but for the car it is and at my age I personally I am happy to pay it, considering I paid over £2000 at the age of 17 for a 1.2 corsa I'm looking for a 3.0TT Manual (in black but will consider other colours), either UK or import spec, hopefully being as standard as possible but a few modifications will do no harm. From what I understand a UK spec is going to cost more than an import spec. I have a budget of around £12,000. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where's best to look? I have seen that I need to pay £10 membership fee to access the classified section, which is something I will do. I'm not in a rush to buy the supra, ideally the longer I wait the better, because I can put more money towards one. Thanks for reading, looking forward to meeting everyone in the future at club meets!.. When I've bought one
