  1. So, if I understand this correctly, ETTC allows you to switch back and forth between the two modes just using a switch? Also, TTC is more economical? So that means when I'm pootling along in traffic at 15-50mph (say), I could have it in TTC for fuel economy....then if I want more low end umph on the open road, I could switch instantly to sequential? If it does no harm to your engine, then that seems fantastic. Plus another button in the cockpit!
  2. This might be long-winded, so bear with me a bit. I recently bought a j-spec auto TT and almost immediately took it up to CW to have some work done on it. On the way up to Chris' place, the car was boosting to 1.27ish even on relatively short runs, in the height of the summer. I took the car out this morning and even up a slight hill, in third, on a cool morning, it will only hit 1.02. I'm using the DBSCs peak hold feature to assess boost. I'm using the same fuel (optimax). Now this sounds like a complaint, but it really isn't: the car seems every bit as quick, if not quicker, than before the work was done. I don't have very much to compare it to other than my lardy UK TT, but to me it seems ferocious at 60mph plus. I don't have any acceleration figures to back this up, but CW confirms that the car pulls 'very strongly'. Pre CW mods were: Hybrid turbos (approx UK spec), Blitz induction, full decat nur spec (3" downpipe), Blitz Access ECU, Blitz DSBC (an earlier one). CW swapped the Blitz Access ECU for a stock one, added a TRL FCD, swapped the 3" downpipe for 2.5" ones, added a FMIC and water injection. I seem to remember Ian Chisolm posting that he attained better acceleration with less boost (using a restrictor ring), which I think he attributed to increased engine efficiency due to lower EGTs? So, my questions are: 1) Why only 1 bar, when others with the same spec are hitting 1.2 plus? The boost controller is set to 70%. Is the downpipe the restricting factor? Or could it be something else? 2) On local roads, there is nowhere that I can floor it for more than 5-8 seconds in third... I run out of road. Perhaps to attain higher boost needs longer?....Though it used to instantly hit high boost, or so it seemed. 3) Can the car really be faster, despite a 20% plus decline in peak boost? If so, great! No point in stressing the engine more than necessary. Any thoughts? regards, Cliff
  3. I did something incredibly dumb when I bought my import. Previous owner told me that the car was still reading in km and I never thought to check it. Discovered later that my supposed 48,000 miles is nearer to 70,000 miles as the odometer was, as far as I can figure, converted when it was first imported. My own fault - caveat emptor.
  4. You're not too far from Envy are you? Bet they would look at it for you. I have a vested interest in you sorting it.
  5. Mr. White (or can I call you 'Sooo')' Take a look at 'Private For Sale and Wanted'
  6. Yeah, but it's a bit of a shame that he is only remembered for his funny-contraption cartoons. He was, IMO, a very competent artist. The lion's share of his lifetime work was rather fey book illustrations. He illustrated fairy tales, classic literature: lots of elves and stuff - similar in content to Arthur Rackham. I've got some print of his and I like them a lot. As I can't make any meaningful comments about cars, I have to seize the opportunity to be a smart-arse in other areas. I'll shut up now.
