Also i would assume since 2006 there may well be better brands/alternatives

Just wondering what diff oil is recommended for a B03B. I've done a search already and found a post from years ago with different oil recommendations for the engine/gearbox/diff etc but for the diff it just says LSD 75/90. It doesn't specify big or small case.. my assumption would be that its the same for both but i just want to clarify that before filling it up and running it!

8HP is definitely faster, all the dyno videos I've seen with 8HP boxes just look insane, doesn't drop boost between gears etc. But yeah i just wanted to keep it Toyota and keep the clutch pedal!

I dont blame you. I recently sold my R154 for the same reasons. Bought a V160 though

I’m returning to the forum after a few years away!

Heyy Chris! Good to see you're coming back! -
If you go down the R154 route make sure you buy the later model remote shifter variant. You can still buy them brand new in fact which would also be preferable. You mentioned about buying an 'upgraded one'... by which i assume you mean the Marlin Crawler thrust washer and shift forks? My advice would be to steer clear. The thrust washer yeah ok, but the billet shift forks are crap! Definitely not an upgrade, i had mine built with these components and the 3rd/4th shift fork failed after about 500 miles and started grinding against the outer sleave. I looked online and im not the only one to suffer this either. I've now replaced it with a new oem fork.

Took my Diff into work today to give it a good clean up. Wire wheeled and acid washed the rear cover and painted the main casing. Also drained the oil out of it as both the diff and the gearbox still have oil in them as they were never drained before shipping. Pretty glad about that tbh as it meant i could see the condition of the oil which was nice and clear with no unwanted debris. -
Cant wait to see this finished. Think its going to easily be one of my favourites! What do you intend to use it for? Just regular fast road weekend stuff? Or track?

What happened to this car? Do you still have it?

Took the v160 into work today and gave it a good clean with a wire brush and some aluminium acid cleaner.. didn't quite come up like new but certainly much better now 30 years worth of road grime and grease has been removed. My SRD single piece prop and Oem slave cylinder arrived today too. -

Picked the R154 up this morning after having it repaired and rebuilt again, thats now sold a long with the A02B, prop and shafts. Nice selection of drive train parts i currently have sitting in my garage though! I got the new shifter installed on the V160 and gave it all a bit of a clean, I'll take it into work tomorrow and clean it more thoroughly. I have some aluminium acid cleaner which i think will almost bring it up like new. -

It looks absolutely incredible! Hopefully I'll get to see it in the flesh one day!

Just a heads up with the glass.. (because i had a nightmare) Both screens require the seals to be fitted to the glass first. My windscreen guy was adamant that the rear screen had to be fitted first before the seal went on. He literally fitted the screen and left - leaving me to do the seal. A few backwards and forwards messages later of me saying im pretty sure the seal had to go on first and him getting pissed off because "what do i know?!" He finally agreed to come back a week later.. at which point he realised i was right and was rather apologetic. Annoying because it was a freshly painted boot lid and the rear screens are discontinued so removing it again ment risk to the fresh paint and also the risk of breaking the screen during removal. Fortunately no damage was done though and the screen was re fitted with the seal attached! Also, the front screen has to be seated quite firmly, the seal itself needs to be recessed passed the edge of the roof. Mine doesn't, meaning the seal keeps popping out in a couple of places! So again now my front windscreen also has to be removed for a 2nd time and re fitted again but seated further into the recess

Another new chapter and some big changes on the way. V160, B03B, driveshafts, propshaft, all associated bolts which have been zinc plated and a new oem 6 speed gear knob. All on a pallet and being shipped over! Also, a spec 3+ clutch, spec solid flywheel, V160 oil and a new under bonnet insulation all ordered from Whifbitz. Thanks again to Paul for sorting me out with a really good price on these parts -
Yeah it is the same car (recognised the black TS bonnet and lower lip).. although it appears the guy i have on FB has since also sold it
-
I recognise that car (i think) think someone on my facebook owns it. I'll check

I have a few plans for it this year. First of all i need to do something with the R154. Its not done badly considering its been holding 666whp on drag radials but realistically its only a matter of time before it throws the towel in and it would be annoying if it did suddenly chew 3rd gear up (as they are known for on high HP cars) as in good working order R154s hold a decent bit of value. So better to sell it now before it ultimately ends up being worth scrap. R154 and propshaft removed.. and later i also removed the A02B and shafts.. all sold. before actually letting the R154 go i took it to a local transmission shop for a strip down and inspection.. didn't want to sell it to another member if it was damaged and it had been whining a bit.. not to mention the metallic oil i drained from it! After a strip down it became clear what the issue with it was.. the MC billet shift fork had been rubbing against the gear set so now i have to figure out the best solution for this. Fortunately however the rest of the internals are fine! All being well, i should have a V160, B03B, prop and shafts in 3 weeks! Definitely cheaper options out there, and i did strongly consider a GS6 or 420g bmw box but its just not the same as a proper V160 is it and this is a car for life for me. -

Few small updates with the Supra, since 'mostly' finishing it last year (they're never finished) I thoroughly enjoyed driving it during the summer and attended a couple of shows in it.. most noticeable being Japanese Performance show where it won best Toyota -
That is definitely on the cards.. but i wondered if anyone else had one maybe slightly cheaper first. Pauls are great and refurbished etc, but if i could get a good used one a bit cheaper, it would leave some money left over for a clutch or OS giken diff etc
