  1. So 4 months have now passed! Anddd nothing much has changed. Made afew purchases and sold afew bits but thats about it. Bought another complete rear subframe - those that have followed this thread will recall i bought one ages ago that i was going to have powder coated but the more i worked on it the more i thought it was too far gone. It had come off a 200k mile car and was pretty rusty so i just scrapped it and found this one that has come from a 90k tt auto and is in much much better condition to start with. I also finally got round to getting my genuine BBSs refurbed. They look a million dollars now finished in piano black. Still need to get the centre nuts professionally polished though. I bought another 2jzgte engine, it was a vvti engine directly from a supra and had suffered a spun bearing. Picked it up very cheaply even considering the damage. I broke it for parts just to generate abit cash. And last but not least i bought a Mercedes 300e W124 lol. A completely unnecessary purchase but she makes a fantastically cool daily - lowered her and threw on some step up BBS reps for added G appeal. Shes getting more looks than the Supra!
  2. Block and rear sump cleaned and degreased with copious amounts of brake cleaner. I have only done the upper sump so far as i want to re paint the lower pan before i fit it. I used Loctite SI5980 as recommended by various people - its certainly thick and very tacky stuff! 12mm bolts tightened down to 15ftlbs and the 14mm bolts tightened down to 30ftlbs
  3. Flipped it over this morning and pulled the sump off - all looks very clean with no sludge or metal shavings. The small amount of oil still in the sump is actually very clean so hopefully that goes somewhat to suggest this engine has been well maintained.
  4. She actually doesnt mind lol - she even said it was quite nice with me doing it in the house because it means im not locked away in the garage!
  5. I know its going off subject and not necessarily helping with your question but have you not considered selling all 3 and buying a TT6? Two 1JZ soarers and a NA5 mk4 would probably see you 16k+
  6. Stripped the engine down a bit this afternoon - basically just removed the loom, AC compressor and the manifolds. Hopefully tomorrow i will flip it over and swap the sump over for a supra one. Eventually i will also be pulling the head off to fit arp head studs and do the stem seals. Its sooo nice doing it all in the living room in front of the TV!!
  7. They look really good. Tbh i wasnt sure about the glove boxes when you first said about it but now they are in and done they look great
  8. Bought afew more bits and pieces. Another R154 shifter to keep as a spare with my two boxes, a new gasket for the oil strainer in the sump for when i swap them over, a billet HKS rep top feed rail and a Bride gear stick gaiter. I have also bought some Bride material to have a go at wrapping afew bits. I have seen Josh Day has beaten me to it and done a really good job. I am going to do the centre arm rest and also experiment with some old door cards i have. The rail i have bought is just a HKS rep. I paid £45 and didnt expect much but figured at the end of the day its just a piece of billet aluminium. I am pleasantly surprised by it, its got a good bit of weight to it that i didnt expect and is nicely finished. My 1000cc FIC injectors have slotted in nicely too and il look at fitting it maybe over the weekend
  9. Was great meeting you also Mark, i always have time for a good supra related chat and even more so with someone who genuinely shares the same passion. Your cars are phenomenal, to have a genuine uk tt 6 in that condition and that still smells like a brand new car inside really is something to behold. I was/am still very impressed.
  10. Thanks Dan ☺ I hope it becomes one of the better cars out there, i have literally poured my heart into it - everything i can afford has gone and is going into it. I reckon in afew years time though i might look for a genuine facelift vvti tt6 shell and then swap my drivetrain and everything else into it to try and make a more 'vin accurate original car'
  11. My parents came round the other day... my mum was horrified!
  12. I do want an SSI intake but its just the cost involved! This is the problem, i dont just settle and 'get it done'. I keep upgrading this and upgrading that and it just keeps delaying the end result lol. Although with that being said, i will buy one lol [emoji23]
  13. Hey Josh, tried massaging you on FB but for some reason i cant? Have you seen these Bride gear stick gaiters? I saw they were being advertised for about £40 but found a guy selling them for half that if you're interested? I paid £20 delivered for a Bride gaiter and lanyard
  14. "Direct port Nos" makes my trousers twitch
  15. I have a couple of old door cards in the garage so im going to see what can be done with them. You've done a cracking job with that arm rest!
  16. F*cking hell [emoji23] i literally ordered a couple of sheets of that Bride material yesterday to do exactly this!! I was going to have a go at doing the upper part of the door card too
  17. I love brand new oem parts! Just picked this fuel tank guard up from Mark. I started to think these guards came rusty from the factory lol. This nice shiny one proves otherwise!
  18. Cool thanks Mike. I've perched on the sofa now because im quite partial to a bit of 8 out of 10 cats, working on an engine in the living room definitely beats working on an engine in a cold damp garage!
  19. Im going to have a look at this i think. Thanks Mike
  20. I also discovered i seem to be missing something.. towards the back of the cylinder head on the right hand side. I presume its the cam sensor?
  21. I've been having a bit of a tinker this evening, i have a set of brand new oem coil packs and plugs for a non vvti and i am going to use them with this vvti engine. I am led to believe they are better than the vvti coil packs and should work fine considering i will also be using a non vvti engine loom and standalone ecu. The only slight adjustment i can see will be the need to trim the first bracket down slightly on one corner so to clear the vvti cam cover.
  22. Just need to get it in the car now! Still have stuff i need to do and buy first though.
