Sorry to hear that but even with any amount knocked off it sounds like the walk away option was always going to be the better one. First impressions make a big difference and if the guy couldnt be arsed with the stereo then im sure much bigger (more important things) had probably been ignored. If it doesnt feel right then it probably isnt, good luck with your future searching

Well its time to say goodbye my N/A has gone and i now have an Evo2 its been fun, see you all on the road some day. Mos

Nearly settled, so is that what youre going for? You need these studs?, and i thought you wanted them quick let me know when its all sorted i like happy endings

If they get funny ask them how long the job should take and then work out how long they had the car and just use the "im sure toyota U.K. will be interested in this" line. When my Nissan had a problem with a bolt and they had the car for 3 days for a 2 hour job that line worked wonders (but with toyota replaced with nissan for the smart arses) and lo and behold they had the mechanics in on a sat and i got the car back when they had said it would be monday
-
yes because it would be impossible for me to get/make a toyota stamp. oh no it wouldnt would it and yes your probably right the mechanics know what they are doing just making an extra hole so the oil came out quicker no all this shows is the owner couldnt be arsed about their car so dumped it at a garage that may or may not have done what was required at that stage by someone who may or may not understand the car
-
oh i forgot oi well lardy daaa i love my now apparently cheap N/A which will flood the streets with backward baseball cap wearing ricers, oh how i wish i was rich and could afford a uk spec
-
Work out how much youve paid for that stamp and then take that off the value of your car, FTSH is costing you a fortune and as nearly everybody says they usually dont do a good job. When i have bought cars in the past i rarely look at the service history, i make my own mind up about how its been looked after. I personally do all my servicing and have every receipt from the day i bought the car, and that is how i prefer to buy my cars as well from somebody who has cared for it, not just dumped it in some garage to let a youth with no idea have a play.

No problems as i see it as long as it fits ok after all the collar on a normal one is basically a welded washer if it goes to correct torque then all should be fine

http://mcgard.com/automotive/product.asp?page=4&group=4 Hopefully the above link will work its the U.S. McGard site and the part No is 24022 12 x 1.5 under the centrecaps / speciality locks part. I got the studs from Burnley motors in liverpool their No is 0151 709 5818. I dont have a part number and couldnt say if they do them 15mm longer but as you say you can always shorten them. I dont have the diameter of the sleeve so it may not be up to much but as you say it would be better than a standard nut. If you require my studs give me a shout i have had my spacers for about 6 months and still not fitted them yet so im in no rush.

Well its not good news at first i thought i had it got a call back after faxing all the details and they said yes, later on in the conversation it was revealed that they thought the nut was actually a stud so thats that one down no dealers here can supply locking sleeve nuts just the normal sleeve nut you already have. Demon tweeks want an acyual sleeve nut before they can say if locking nuts are available but it doesnt look good there either. I think the only options left are maybe try the U.S. or go the longer single stud with standard locking tapered nut route. I will post on Supraforums and see if i can turn up anything
-
no snags ill see what i can turn up
-
If you need them super quick i have the longer studs i could send then just return them when you get your set if you choose to go that way (which i think would be easier) To fit you just knock out the old stud and then washer and nut and tighten the new stud in. Finally what exactly is it youre after ie how many nuts and how many locking nuts ill have a good idea tommorow night if i can help but the stud offer is always there and locking nuts can be bought anywhere with a tapered collar (just not the shaft)
-
Just seen your occupation you should be able to make some:)
-
Yes 60 degree collar 20mm threaded shank 1.5mm pitch rate (if i remember correct). I have had a look in my messy garage and at the moment cant find them but will look again and ill send you the one i tried if i can find them. In the meantime on the picture is top - the nuts i currently use next - the standard stud from toyota next - elongated studs bottom - an example of the nut but without the tapered collar (wouldnt you know id find that one though).(this one is oversize) Have you considered using the elongated studs and standard tapered nuts, would prevent this problem in the future. From what i beleive the standards set by TUV are 5 full turn and correct torque on the thread the extended studs are 20mm longer than the toyota ones and so would give the same turns as youre sleeve nuts. i still need the maximum diameter and then i can do some calling in the morning for you If its just a locking nut youre after you could even use one stud per wheel and locking bolts on that one extended stud

He never said just that hed put it on order ill let you know when it comes in
-
Just ordered one of the harnesses above from my dealer as well at first they couldnt find it but its under a nato code for the supra. Apparently they build some of these cars for discounted sale to the U.S. military and that is where the above code comes from
-
I got some of these from demon tweeks and europa car parts, not sure if they are the correct size you need can you give me the diameter and ill check mine if not then you could get oversize and have them turned down on a lathe
-
Cant answer but please keep me/us informed
-
Strange timing im just about to embark on my project after having them in my boot for months
-
well i finally binned my special built system and got a nur spec, baffle in purrs baffle out growls, seems to have totally transformed the car and now im in constant grin mode brilliant system in my mind

It looks like i have fixed this snag, i posted on supraforums and was told to check the battery leads for corrosion. I have a unit on the car that disconnects the battery from the alternator under WOT, well this unit had a crack in the casing so it thought i was WOT all the time. Its supposed to sense when the battery is low and re-connect. This wouldnt have been a problem in itself i dont think but on checking the leads (no corrosion) i decided to check the battery and each cell was down to the plates. with a new battery now fitted and the unit bypassed its idled spot on for about 20 minutes with no drop off and really smooth.
