Although it's insurance so its a lottery anyway, just because you paid £700 when you were 21 (and you havent specified whether it was a supra, just a "jap import") doesn't necessarily mean he will get a matching price, its generally harder to insure an import at 21 compared to a UK car although everyone has stories to the contrary. I could get an imported civica at 21, jus' sayin!

Christ, good luck with that bud!! Nobody would touch me on an import until I was 25, UK spec is/was dirt cheap though when I was 21.

There's a few questions here, what spec are you looking for? UK or Jspec? TT or N/A? 5spd, 6spd or auto? It's definitely worth looking at the guides available on here before deciding as I found them to be a great help. Also, if you get any photos of a car you like the look of, post them up on here so other members can give their opinion. As drift_bear already mentioned, the PDF "What to look out for" is very detailed and is useful if you're not familiar with the Supra. I would definitely consider an auto, I bought a jspec TT auto back in August and I use it for commuting and its great! As mentioned, the kickdown is pretty epic even at stock levels (let alone BPU). If you've ever tried driving one in the torrential rain with the slip control off, you'll be thankful you're not worrying about gear changes at the same time

I have the uprated UK brakes on my jspec and I always found them to not be very responsive until you put some force behind it.
