  1. On further investigation, I think the idiot at the garage might have used brake fluid from an open drum or worse still, used something other than brake fluid coz he was a bit drunk that night. I'm fuming at the mo coz the mechanic is my brothers mate who is normally quite reliable, so I can't even sue them and I think he also damaged the new bms by opening it ... My guess based on all the info is that the bms did need changing, but now the bms and calipers will need a full refurb and the brake fluid fully changed ... This is what I get for trying to take the "cheap" option !!!!! So does anyone know where I can get a refurb kit for a bms and caliper pistons asap please !!!!
  2. Ok fellas this is getting serious now. To recap: The brakes felt spongey so I a got friends garage to change the brake fluid. The pedal got progressively harder and then the brakes ceased. I then tried using a 2nd hand BMS and the same thing happened !!! Looking at the inside of the old BMS the seals did look a little worn but the replacement was much newer and I would have thought an improvement ... But the brakes keep ceasing. The garage is using dot 3 brake fluid. Has anyone else had this problem or any suggestions on how to resolve it ???
  3. Phew thanks for the info guys ... I think if a repair kit is so cheap, I will definitely give that a go first ... I was quite shocked by this seeing as I know Toyotas are normally built like tanks and I don't race around ... Then again that doesn't mean that someone else hasn't ??? ... Where's that brother of mine !!?!?!
  4. I got a second opinion and it's definitely the BMC. It's not damaged externally and the brakes went spongey before the fluid change, so it's the internals etc that are buggered. The only question is whether I can locate a decent used one or try and use a repair kit, seeing as there is no way I can afford a new one or go 4 weeks without my car !!! Any opinions/advice ???
  5. I think the BMC has definitely gone. Is it even worth trying to repair? I got a quote of £280 from Toyota and will have to wait 4 weeks to ship !!! Anyone know of any Supra breakers???
  6. Thanks for the options dudes, I will investigate the repair kit because I don't think the BMS is damaged externally. I think as you suggested, it might be possible to repair it ... I think when the fluid was changed the valves might have been inverted as in some of the threads I have read if the system is drained fully instead of bleeding and topping up .... ??? I think I better get a second opinion from another garage too ...
  7. It's a 1993 NA JZA80 What's the VIN no ?
  8. Dudes !!!! My brake pedal was a little spongey so I got the brake fluid changed and the brakes were biting when the pedal was much higher ... normal ok ... but the following day I was going out and stopped at lights and it felt like my handbrake was on ??? It wasn't, so I realised my brakes were gripping, hoping they were just catching a little, I broke hard a few times to loosen them but it just got worse. I pulled over and waited for them to cool off and tried moving on but the car would barely move !!! I didn't want to damage my discs coz the pads were already smoking so I had to wait 2 hrs for the AA to life the car and take it to my mechanic ... Anyways it turns out the brake master cyclinder is gone and it's gonna cost me 250 + VAT and it's going to take 4 weeks to ship from Japan !!! Anyone know where I can get it cheaper and quicker ???
  9. Guys, while we're on the subject of brakes, does anyone know for definite the bleeding sequence??? I did a search and the general opinion is start with the furhest away as usual, but does anyone know for sure? Cheers Asim
  10. Dude, this might sound like a silly question but have you changed the batteries in your remote controls ???
  11. Guys as you may or may not know I'm on a really tight budget at the moment and when the rear box came off my 5Zigen exhaust on my 93 NA due to rust (I thought stainless steel didn't rust!?!) I was looking at the cheapest options for repair/replacement. Anyways, I found a garage that said they could fix it and when we put the car on the ramp the exhaust, or what was left of it, from the CAT back was totally rusted except for the resonator bit. So we cut the remaining pipe off, including the rear silencer!!! and then put a new pipe on all the way thru to my rear box, which by the way is definitely SS and sweet!!! and it's all working fine! I was worried about lack of back pressure without the rear silencer but it's all good and a hell of a lot quieter than it was without any rear box at all !!! It's fine at all speeds and only cost me 90 quid. Probably could've got it done cheaper but I've been looking for a garage that could fix it for ages ... Just thought you might be interested ...

I agree with youz guyz. I keep a disposable camera (with a flash) in the glovebox to take pics of anyone that messes up my car ( before I rearrange their faces !!! ) Some punks tried racing me the first week I got my supe and smashed straight into the side of my car !!! I had to stop them seeing as they tried to flee and then forced details from them, then let them go but only coz my girlfriend at the time was very scared and lucky for them she was there ... Needless to say they weren't insured and were driving a stolen car but I didn't find this out till 6 mths later when the police informed me the details were false ... the police are still looking into it but I have to be patient, after all it's only been 12 MONTHS !!! Moral of this story: Pay the extra for fully comprehensive insurance, take pics if possible and always call the cops ...
  13. Jesus dudes !!! I paid 1500 for my bleedin' 93 NA !!!!!! The next cheapest quote I got was 5k so it seemed like a good deal at the time !!!! then again I do live in east london ...
  14. Hey guys how much did you pay for your Blitz exhausts ??? And does anyone know of garage that could repair my 5 Zigen exhaust ??? Apparently most garages don't have a machine that can bend big enough pipes !!! I really don't want to get rid of that exhaust because the sound is by far better than anything else I have ever heard ... Cheers
