  1. How has everybody managed to get a socket and extension bar in the gap to get the bolts off the first decat
  2. I've had some issues when going bpu which are getting sorted But while I am waiting I have decided to do an oil change however I have the can covers off would it still be OK to fire up the engine to warm up the oil Thnaks
  3. Thanks I managed to get it attached to the hanger but what have you guys used to insulate the wiring after it has been soldered together Thanks again for the help
  4. Thanks for all the help guys the previous owner said he did an oil change every 6 month that's all the service history I have And all of clumpy oil has had me wondering about it Now I was going to leave the cam gears alone to be honest And just clean the rest up So just to double check I am OK to use brake cleaner on the inside of the cam covers and in the spark plug well
  5. Thanks i will do, how would you recommend to clean the inside of the cam covers? water? Thanks
  6. the cam cover seals look fine but they are hard as rock i assume they should be soft as they are rubber? also i believe i have some washers i can use for the bolts
  7. Hi all, i have recently decided to go bpu and when i was changing over the spark plugs (not done yet) i noticed a lot of old oil in the bottom and on the sides, is this normal? also as a side not when i bought the car the cam cover bolts were very loose and i tightened them up stright away i would assume that this was the cause of the oil problem, am i correct? here are some pictures to show you what i am working with please let me know if it is fine or if it needs cleaning and if so what with Thanks in advance
  8. Thant explains a lot I have bought the UK spec one off someone on here and I have j-spec, explains why it didn't fit, and now I know there are two different types
  9. does anybody know how to fit walbro pumps to the stock hanger
  10. I am waiting on a fcd and boost gauge to arrive, I have everything else, would I be able to fit everything and still be able to drive the car or should I wait until the fcd arrives (no ETA) and if it is safe to drive what would I be limited to so I don't hit fuel cut, I assume no putting foot down for a long period of time but how hard do I have to accelerate to hit this fuel cut (not that I want to, just need some space in my living room for Xmas but this car is my only means of transportation) Thanks Pete
  11. So I'm going bpu, but I am waiting on a fcd and boost gauge to arrive, I have everything else, would I be able to fit everything and still be able to drive the car or should I wait until the fcd arrives (no ETA) and if it is safe to drive what would I be limited to so I don't hit fuel cut, I assume no putting foot down for a long period of time but how hard do I have to accelerate to hit this fuel cut (not that I want to, just need some space in my living room for Xmas but this car is my only means of transportation) Thanks Pete
  12. So in buying the Syvecs ECU this would eliminate the need for a fcd and boost controller, what else would it eliminate and for this I assume it would need to be mapped as you said
  13. If I can source most parts cheap then I'll be happy other wise I intend to order it all of garage Whifbitz and get them on finance which if that is the case I would probably order the Syvecs ECU along with the rest of the kit ie: fmic, gauges etc
  14. Thanks if you pm me your details I'll gladly take it I probably should have explained my self better lol, I don't really have that type of money yet I was leaving the ECU and remapping till I can afford to go big single maybe a year or two but I don't mind spending the right amount of money on the best hardware for BPU sorry for the confusion
  15. First off I have read the BPU in the tech section. I currently have a first and second decat and a catback exhaust, I have just ordered some colder spark plugs. I know I need a restrictor plate as mines a j-spec, a FCD/BCC, AFR gauge a uprated fuel pump I will assume that the AFR gauge will be AEM as its the only one listed on Whifbitz I have read that the HKS fcd is not as good as the Greddy BCC, however when browsing Whifbitz website I could not find one, What would you recommend Also in terms of a boost controller, again what is recommended/best I have got the restrictor plate and uprated fuel pump in the cart on Whifbitz, and would prefer to get all the parts from one place I know that my smic is shot and could do with getting replaced so I was thinking of getting a fmic now that I will be going BPU, what's recommended Also for the boost gauge what's the difference between the defi advanced cf and br gauges or is another manufacture recommended I don't think I have missed anything but if I have please let me know what and what your recommendation is for that part or what options I have thanks I do plan to eventually go single turbo so if I can I would prefer to get parts that would do both so it will save me money in the long run but if it can't be avoided then that's fine Thanks Pete
  16. I haven't gone BPU yet, and I see your points I just wanted to check before I spend my money on something I think I will wait till I have enough for BPU and then get the kit of Paul as I don't really want to mess around if I don't have too Thanks for the replys
  17. I will be getting a new front bumper and thought about getting a fmic to finish the look off as well as adding the better air flow My supra is completely stock ATM and is a jspec TT I will be fitting a trial rear bumper at some point and collecting a vs front bumper I think and then after I have her looking how I want I will start on the performance side of things Back to my question would this fmic fit and be suitable for the supra or would love be better off purchasing one from garage whifblitz or knight racer http:// http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-TURBO-1JZGTE-1JZ-GTE-2JZGTE-2JZ-GTE-FRONT-INTERCOOLER-KIT-FMIC-/150731531993?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23184ca6d9
  18. Sorry for the thread revival, but it seems the best place to post For those of you that have bought the halfords xl all weather cover would you recommend it and does it have a soft inner layer that sits on the car Also would it be advisable to buy the xl xt one instead for height purposes or would this cause some issues with the wind ATM my car is fully stock however I will be fitting a bodykit in the near future not sure if it will be a wide one yet It will be parked in a drive when the cover is on so wind shouldn't be a problem but it will be sat there all winter and I don't really want to be taking the cover off to find any dampness or mild on the car Thanks in advance Pete
  19. Thanks, Received mine today, was on the table when I got in from work also I had stickers included let me know if there's a charge thankyou
  20. I will have a look into the vacuum bleeder for when I get my new brake kit and see how that goes if it really saves time then I will probably invest it one, but for now I'm going too stick to the manual method and come Friday will double check all of the brake lines for air bubble only turning the nipple ever so slightly and will see if I have any tiny air bubbles then also I bought the halfordsn1 man bleed kit cost me £5 and if I knew what was in it I would have made my own for less than £1
  21. Thanks that's put my mind at ease and the bleed nipped was very loose where I was getting the tiny air bubbles from so you might be on to something there will have to try it a little tighter next time and see if they are still appearing Thanks again
