1. Still mega slow progress on this, money is tight for the moment and whilst the car is off the road, I had a big f'it moment and made a start at ripping all of the nasty induction piping off, ready for mock up/install of the ITB's. Plus i will be giving the under bonnet a big tidy up and lick of paint. Keeping things looking retro looking with the ITB's, i am going to give the cam covers some attention and paint them up like the old 7M-GTE covers,
2. Thanks lol, all part of learning lol 4mm rack spacers landed today. Not expecting crazy angle from them, but interested to see how well they work next time out,
3. Had my first dabble at putting a GoPro video together, although i did cheat with the GoPro Studio app and used a template https://vimeo.com/177316924 Already looking at later dates to go play, stocked up on more tyres and will be back out soon, although i would rather be doing it in the Supra...!
4. I discovered after owning my car for a few months that the front Calipers were the LS400 ones. Just double check the wheel fitment when you put them on, the old wheels that my car had were fitted with 10mm spacers as the offset of the wheel was making the back of the spokes hit the Calipers. Other than that, they are nice light calipers, standard hoses fit ok too.
5. How about one of these...? Just need the R154 Bell housing and clutch release system (amongst other bits) Would be awesome banging throught the gears lol
6. Been a while sinse i posted on this thread...! Made a few changes on the car in preperation for drifting, * Spare wheels * JR Air Filter * Cherry Bomb exhaust * Dished steering wheel Decided it was about time i got trackside, as all it is being used for is a daily runner to and from work whilst my Supra awaits a gearbox.... I booked a date with the guys at Flatout Factory at Birmingham Wheels. They do drift tuition, but i opted for the none tutored day so i can just learn at my own pace. Scrounged loads of scrap 15" tyres from various garages for free and loaded the car up Sunday morning, Numbers were limited to 15x cars with an open pit all day. Really relaxed atmosphere and everyone was friendly and more than happy to lend a hand with tyre changing etc. By the end of the day i had managed to drift the complete corner at each end of the oval track and cary the drift out of the corner and atleast 1/3 the way up the straight. (Not bad for a poxy 1.6l..!) The car behaved really well apart from pushing the coolant out of the rad cap, however, the gauge never moved over half way with a few cool down laps, heaters on full whack and topping it back up again. I didnt manage to get many images, but i have some GoPro footage to go through later. Very rewarding as the day goes on and you can maintain the drift throughout the corner. Strongly reccomend it for anyone who wants to have a crack.
7. Coming together now! Would be good to see it back on the road.... I Nearly brought this before it got smashed up, the guy wouldnt budge on pricing though. Here she was with my now current Supra,
8. Just to add, hot food and drink will also be available on the day
9. Hey guys n gals, Some track time coming up later in the year at Curborough Sprint Track if anyone is intersted. I believe we will be using the new figure of 8 layout which has made the little track much more fun Dates below; If you wish to book up, use the below link; http://www.trackdaydrivers.com/index.php?go=track-days Hopefully will have the Blackbird's manual conversion will be done by then, failing that I may be marshalling / getting footage on the GoPro etc
10. Terrible news, not sure of the ins and outs of what safety gear they had, but there is only so much a car can take from a side impact... That being said, the car should be sufficiently equiped as far as safety goes, respective of what is being asked of the car. Case in point, if anyone saw this video doing the rounds on Facebook this weekend, the guy lost it at around 200mph and the car rolled. Given the speed, imo, he should of had a minimum of a full cage, seats, harnesses etc. The half cage he had just about saved them from being crushed; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beuFXAn5J10
11. Love it, Where did you get the Japanes Plates from? Fancied a set of show plates for mine
12. I had mine done by Two Guns in Bloxwich (Walsall) I went for a Manga Comic style half sleeve, inspired by the Wangan Midnight "Devil Z" Still yet to have all the colour finished but will do at some point. Had the edges left so i can add to it later down the line
13. I brought some eBay spec one to try, colour is pretty much on the money
14. Slowly getting rid of all the red dash parts now whilst I wait for my gearbox, spent a few minutes wrapping the lower glovebox lid in leatherette,
15. Will be popping down to Frontier Airsoft this Sunday in Staffordshire if anyone is looking for something to do..! Booking details below, you can rent weapons too; http://www.frontierairsoft.co.uk/game-dates.htm
