Its got 6 speed gearbox and some lsd. No idea what diff though. But I believe it has a speedo converter as I said, so this may not actually be needed?
-
Hi people, my supras speedo seems to read 2/3rds of the actual speed your doing, I.e 20 when doing 30, 40 when doing 60 etc. It is an na-tt import and I know theres some sort of speedo healer behind the dash and the cars had no expense spared by previous owners so im assuming its a good one. How do you adjust these or is it indicating a faulty part somewhere? The speedo goes upto 180mph just incase maybe its got the wrong face plate fitted. Many thanks Dave

crank star pick up came off, new sensor?
Dave_harman1990 replied to Dave_harman1990's topic in mkiv Technical
Ok after removing the crank sensor I realise it has a little dink in it. So guess it is in need of replacement. Bugger -
Hi people, driving down the road the otherday at about 3000rpm and the car bogged and died. Got it home and stripped it down to realise the crank sensor star pick up had come off the crank sprocket. i am in the process of getting this welded up but i wanted peoples opinions please. The crank position sensor looks fine, cleaned it up and wiped it over with some blue roll and i couldnt see any signs of scuffs or damage. Would people replace the crank sensor or just leave it? Many Thanks in advance Dave

Hi people, quite a random one. My neighbour has a ford maverick which the rear wiper hasnt been working for about a year. I checked the feeds at the 3 terminal plug that goes into the motor plug, there was 0 at earth, 12 at one when I turned the key and 12 on the final one when I turned the wiper stalk to on. So power is getting to the motor. I decided to test the motor directly onto a battery, and the motor worked fine. So there is good power upto the motor, and the motor is in working order, so why wont it work when plugged into the car :s? Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance

I was debating that as an option, the important part would be changed so I didnt think/hope it would be an issue. Thanks for the advice people

How about the hole thats sitting at a 45 degree angle instead of flat on top? It looked like a hard pipe that goes into it so it won't be able to bend to fit on the side would it?
-
Hi people, really confused on this one, doing my timing belt and decided to change my 21year old water pump while I was at it. I got a blue print replacement which I was told is as good as oem, the bolts that hold it to the car are the right layout, but there is a hole on the top of the oem, which is at a 45 degrees angle on the blueprint where a hardpipe appears to go in, also on the blueprint on the underside there is what looks like a vacuum pipe nipple, which I could not find on the oem. Can someone tell me if im being an idiot or if this is the wrong part, ive looked and the blue print part number is correct for the twin turbo water pump 93 - 96 model :s Thanks in advance

knock/clunk when turning, silent when stationary
Dave_harman1990 replied to Dave_harman1990's topic in mkiv Technical
Ok well issue resolved, and im scratching my head how. Ended up pulling out the castor eccentrics, straigtening up the adjuster plates a bit that were bent, checking for any play in anything. Fitting the eccentrics back, tightening up the nuts on the camber and castor eccentrics with a crack bar, and no more noise. Everything was tight but went up maybe half a turn more with the crack bar than it originally did with spanners. So maybe it was the bent sdjuster plates or maybe the camber bolts needed that fraction more tightness. Either way its fixed and im happy again thanks for the replies people -
knock/clunk when turning, silent when stationary
Dave_harman1990 replied to Dave_harman1990's topic in mkiv Technical
ok on inspection it has come to my attention the the front crossmember which bolts to the rear of the wishbones, the eccentric camber/castor adjuster on the drivers side is no longer sitting tight against the adjustment blocks. instead it has about 5mm of room which is causing the bush to move and thus knocking the eccentric against the blocks when steering. i Can have this temporarily fixed but obviously due to age the blocks have weekend and bent. so my intention is to get another crossmember, have it properly powder coated and then bolt that onto the car. Has anyone got a recomendation where i would be able to find a second hand one in useable condition and at a decent price please? Hopefully sooner than later too. Many Thanks in advance Dave -
Hi people, just looking for some advice please before I get a proper chance to look. Car is suddenly making a sort of clunky knocky noise at speeds when turning as little as half a turn, but when stationary it makes no noise at all going from lock to lock. I have reisently added 4mm washers either side of the steering rack aswell as a full alignment set with my front camber from 0.5degrees to 1.5 degrees. I had suspicion that it was the tyres rubbing the inner front archs, which I earlier removed and still have the noise. I have no sign of play at any speeds, no noise on speed bumps or uneven roads, it is purely from 5mph upwards at as little as quarter a turn that there is a noise. Any advice or previous issues with people on here please, I'd be extremely greatful!
