  1. Terry - Yeh the link at the top is for the MKIV.COM TRD instructions. Would you reccomend this method of running in? Apart from re torque of the head bolts as there is no way of knowing the torque setting as the bolts are turned 180degress in two stages after you torque the bolts! Darren - I knew it had something to do with the rings and the cylinder walls but was 100% sure. That sounds spot on to me! Cheers all Scott
  2. According to the web site its 10/40 mineral oil for running in. Is it any good Terry?
  3. Millers Oils! Now ive seen a sign on a motor shop place in leicester that sells that stuff. Cant remember where though. It should come to me!
  4. Yes ive heard that thicker non synth is better but i dont know about semi synth oil?? Think i need to take a trip to "halfords" and check out the 20/50 that they sell.
  5. Cheers for the comments guys. I kinda like the idea of dumping the oil after about 1/2 hr to get rid of all the crap that ive used to lube things up. Because i can get the oils mentiond above for next to nothing then i may be tempted to use one of them. I cant see it hurting if i use 10/40 as apposed to 20/50 Would Semi Synth Oil be a problem as i think both the mentiond oils are semis? Scott
  6. Hi all. Wont be long before I put my engine back in now and im starting to think about oils. Im not sure what oil to use for the first 1000mile run in period. I have installed a brand new shortblock assembly. I was told that slightly thicker oil is better to run in with. Is This true? I can get my hands on Texaco Havoline Extra 10/40 or Castrol 10/40 for next to nothing (Ask me no questions me tell ya no lies) But according to this page I should be using 20/50??? Anyone got any opinions on this I would be most grateful. Thanks Scott
  7. will make sure i have a good poke around then mate. Im pretty sure its that hole i mentioned as i noticed that one and thought "little Jap Bastards" "that could of caused a few problems" Thanks Scott
  8. It wasnt right next to the factory oil pressure sensor was it? Like a little gromet sort of thing right on the edge of the block. If was that i would imagine your power steering pump would have got covered in oil? Jog any memories at all? Be nice if you could clear that one up for me? Scott
  9. yep part# 90402-16015 adapter part# 90430-16012 gasket
  10. Didnt realise there was one. I know they moved it (I think) But didnt know the fitment had changed. Hopefully the Adapter should be cheaper than a new sensor! Unlike you to rub shoulders with a UK'er dude?????!!!!! Or did you just feel sorry for me:D :D
  11. This has been cleared up now. Curt Aigner from US forums has given me a proper part number from toyota for this adapter Cheers for all your help though guys. Scott
  12. I think im going to have to get someone round to measure this up properly for me as i have no clue when it comes to thread sizes and diameters. I wish defi were so generous when i bought my Oil pressure gauge off them!! no such luck Thanks for your help though dude. At least i know what sort of thing im looking for now!
  13. I have tried a 17mm and was too big. The 14mm was too small which leaves me with 15mm and 16mm to choose from. Where did these come from. Are they readily availible or did you get them custom made?
  14. the one on the left and the one in the middle look like possibilitys. do you know what sizes they are at all?
  15. I posted this same question on Supraforums. Someone on there told me that it was a 14X1.5 thread. I found a Tap and tried it for size and it was slightly too small. I think it would be a 15 or 16 but i cant be sure as i dont have a 15or16X1.5 tap to try in there! Also was told that the Oil pressure sensor thread was a 1/8 NPT. Whatever that means! Would pics still help Supra TT myster. If so i can try and sort them out. Cheers Scott
  16. Nope, they are black, much smaller and flat. Also just for a dig at Toyota, they dont come with the gasket kit Typical Toyota!
  17. Had the same problem one day going down the Micky 1 with the girlfriend. Drivers side rear tyre was down by about 5psi. Pumped her up (And the Tyre!) No problems after that. Scott
  18. Hi everyone Im close to finishing my engine rebuild and in my Overhaul Gasket kit i have this 'O' ring left over. As you can see from the pic its a bit bigger than a 50 pence peice and is a brown colour. I know its not for the Oil Pump (2 black 'O' Rings) or Water Pump (1 Black 'O' Ring) Any of you daily engine builders know where this is from? Please dont tell me ive got to "rip apart the block" Im so sure i havent missed anything out! http://mercury.walagata.com/w/sward42/4912009.JPG Cheers Scott
  19. Hi all. I’ve had a new short block. Come to put the Oil pressure sensor into the new block and "Hold On A Minute" the hole is massive now. Looked at the old block "Small Hole" What’s going on?? Was there some update on the block where they decided to change this part?? Is there some sort of adapter I can use? Bit like a bolt that fits the new size hole with the original thread of the pressure sensor drilled into the end of it? HELP PLEASE SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!!! Scott
  20. Welcome to the board my friend And welcome to the expense of running a very thirsty car Scott
  21. The clunk your all talking about sounds like the problem i have on my car. The noise i get is from my brakes. If i move forward slowly whilst braking and then reverse i get a clunk noise from the brakes. Same if i go reverse to forward. I was told by a few people that its my disks sliping slightly due to the fact that i dont have a little screw that goes through the disk to the hub to stop them doing this????? Awaits to be corrected:D Scott
  22. might be a slight hijack (sorry) My uk car is the complete opposite. It sits too high on the front only. It did when i had the original wheels on and doesnt look as bad now with 19's but i still feel its high (too much gap between arch and tyre) Any comments appriciated. Scott
