Anyone know if this is the right kit for me? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-MK4-JZA80-3-0-inc-TT-TWIN-TURBO-STARTER-MOTOR-SOLENOID-REPAIR-KIT-/251264620513?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a8089d7e1 -

Will give it a go Also going to order a contacts kit for the starter as reading through that thread seems to sound familiar. -

Looking at that, it still looks like both relays will only deal with fuelling. Surely a relay that had stopped functioning, stopping fuelling, would still let the engine turn, just not fire? -

Do they not both control fuel? Surely if the fuel wasn't getting there, it will still turnover, just not fire? If it is the relays - where can they be bought from? -

Wouldn't that just stop the fuel? So i'd hear cranking, it just wouldn't fire because of the lack of fuel? -

Still having problems and need to get it sorted by the weekend as am meant to be going away Are there any safety type features that might be stopping the engine firing? Sensors that might provide some kind of cut out? If the starter contacts were duff, would you hear clicking while it tried to do something? Currently, when you turn the key to position one, everything electrical turns on, including the fuel pump. Turn the key further and I either get absolutely no noise, or one slight crank noise, then nothing. Eventually, when it does crank, it hits first time, like nothing was wrong? Could it be the contacts, or the whole starter? -

Have been having a play, and obviously it started first time every time. I had a look at both fuses boxes and things seemed to be seated ok and not blown, however, I noticed this and am concerned by the top fuse. I think it's the alternator one, but doesn't look in good condition? Also, what's the red + bolt for to the right of it? -

Is it possible there's an issue with the feed from the ignition barrel? Does the 7.5 amp fuse only juice the starter, or would it also turn on the fuel pump? If it only kicks in the starter, that might be worth investigating? -

I've read the guides on that, it seems that i'd still get a click while trying to turn over? I'm getting nada. - - - Updated - - - Relay could be possible I guess? It's strange that it's absolutely nothing, then works fine. -
Car is a 1994, GZ TT, J spec that i've owned for a few months now and it hasn't missed a beat. This morning, I turned the key, nothing. Turned it again and it fired without issue. Guessed it must have the immob kicking in. Later in the morning, went to go out again and the following happened: Turned the key, heard the fuel pump, turned all the way round and nothing. Not like a flat battery nothing as the radio, lights and and fans were are still fine. Turned all the electrics off, and tried again. Fuel pump noise, and again, nothing. No clicking, no turning over, no firing, nothing. Turned it all off, tried again and it fired as normal first time. Drove out for lunch, parked, turned the engine off, and tried it immediately to see if it would start. Fired first time, no issue. Tried again, fired no problem. Came back to the car about 2 hours later, and back to the same problem. Took about 10 attempts, but eventually it fired. What's odd, is it's not like it's a dead battery and i'm getting clicks, and it's not the immob as the light is off, there's just nothing, but then when it fires, it's absolutely like it normally would start. There's no issue at all while driving, so don't think it's a filter, or plugs etc as once started, everything seems to work as it should. I've had a look under the bonnet, and I can't see anything that looks out of place. Battery connections are firm and intact. Anyone got any suggestions? Car is my daily, so really need to get it fixed! Thanks

Look under the "chassy" for screw holes. Might have been for an under car neon kit that foolishly got removed. Switch was left so as not leave a gaping hole in the trim.

So is there a level marker there? Would I top it up in to the expansion bottle? Side question, am I right in thinking you work for the mighty Bauer?
-
I have a couple of coolant related questions... 1) How do I check the coolant level, and how do I top it up if required? (it's certainly not like some of my old VAG cars) 2) When I turn the car off after a good run, it tends to start gurgling a bit while it cools down - is this normal / ok? Temp needle site exactly where it should, so just trying to make sure all is well. Thanks

Having looked through the paperwork, CR Turbos seem to have done the work, but all that's listed is 2 x 'remanufactured uprated turbos' at £540 each. That was back in 2010. Might give them a call tomorrow and see if they can give me a bit more information. So, ignoring my hybrids, why do normal people with TT J specs bother upgrading to UK spec 550's if they can max out the 440's and run 1.2 bar? What kind of replacement ECU options do people recommend? Can anyone rate a Dyno local to Peterborough that could handle an auto TT - seemingly will need to get either the piggy back or a standalone mapped. And there was me thinking that I could just whack on the 550's and turn the boost up a bit. This is becoming a very expensive mod!
-
Will dig out the paperwork for the turbos later, but it sounds like I could, with the EBC and my standard 440's, relatively safely increase the boost to 1.1-1.2? If I change the injectors over to the 550's, will the current ECU not 'learn' it can throw more fuel in? Excuse my ignorance, but can the standard ECU not be re-mapped (coming from a scooby background) to accommodate the extra fuelling? With the 550's, what would be an accepted safe level of boost? - - - Updated - - - GPro, what model numbers are those?
-
How much? Seems like there's not a lot of point / gain to increasing the injector sizes?
-
Hi J spec TT auto car running hybrids. Has a walbro, decat with restrictor, and I think the different spark plugs. Also currently has a MBC with the boost set to .9 As I understand it, with the current set up, bigger injectors and the EBC I should be able to run 1.2 Bar?
-
I've done a lot of searching, and still not sure. The car already has a Walbro pump and I've just bought a set of 550's and resistor pack. I'll get the injectors cleaned and flow matched, then will fit to my J Spec. Right, here comes the stupid questions... As I understand I can increase the boost with these and should see a good boost in power? What else do I need to do to make use of them?? I'll fit them as per the great guides i've already found, but then what? Will the ECU figure out it can throw more fuel in, or does it need to be told. If so, how? I have a Gizzmo IBCR to fit (the previous owner said this would be needed with the injector upgrade), but, I have no clue what to do with it. Fitting should be no problems as the instructions seem pretty good, but, not sure how to set it to get the best benefit. Do I need to go down the route of re-mapping the ECU (As I would have done in my Scooby days), or am I all set? Any and all advice very, very welcome. Hell, if you're near Peterborough, beer and tea are also available for any help possible! Thanks Macca
