  1. But you ARE cheap if you don't tip in the US. Those people rely on tips to make up their wages to a decent level. That's just the way it is over there. If you don't like it, don't go
  2. Anyone got a pair of stock bumper brackets for sale and willing to post? It's the flat-ish bit with two bolt threads, they secure the side of the bumper to the front wing on each side. Thanks.
  3. I've never removed the undertray to do the rad. It's all accessible from above.
  4. No, actually Monkey Shit Brown really is what MSB stands for. It has no other meaning - seriously.
  5. The rev limit is a little higher but the pistons are exactly the same.
  6. That'll be this one then : http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=146431 Poor thing.
  7. Not sure what a posh w*nk is but apart from that . . . RX8 are horrible -and let's face it, you only ever see middle aged women driving them. Audi TT - surely no comment needed, is there? They were cool for about 5mins and then every estate agent in the country had one. I'd rather drive a hairdresser's car than one that people mistake me for an estate agent in. Civic Type R - good cars for a hot hatch. At the end of the day it's still just a hatchback; a kevved up regular car. I've "been there, done that" with Supras ; Manuals, Autos, Tiptronics, TTs, Single Turbos. (No aerotops of course; I'm hetrosexual ) but I don't really know what else there is to compete with a Supra for >30K I'm driving a low mileage 53 plate M3 at the moment but the performance is dull compared to a BPU Supra 'worth' half the money at current prices. OK, it's a nicer drive in some ways but it certainly doesn't have the "OMG IT'S FAST" factor when you put your foot down. Apart from another Supra I'm hard pushed to think of another car to buy next. In near desperation I'm tempted to try two cars I always eschewed before : the RX7 or R34 but neither really floats my boat. I can see me ending up with another Supra at this rate - what else is there unless you want to spend 997 or CSL money? I've even offered to swap my new M3 for my old VVTi Single Supe - but the new owner told me where to go.
  8. I'm almost certain it's not a valve stem seals problem. My grey Supra suffers from that, always has done in the five+ years I've owned the car, and the symptoms are very different. Steve's car (my old one) does make some black sooty smoke but I only know about it because it leaves a sooty mark on the bumper where the tailpipe is a bit shorter than most - I've never noticed it when driving the car. It's always done it and, like Steve, I believe it to be quite normal on single Supras. While in my ownership the car was mapped/remapped/tweaked 5 times and it's always been the same in respect of making a bit of sooty smoke at idle.
  9. Both 6sp manuals I presume, given the prices - right? Depends on the condition and mods; or lack thereof.
  10. Blimey, you don't do things by half, do you Gav!
  11. (On the road) : Yamaha FS1E (several times) Dumper truck (on the road) Capri 3000 Ghia Datsun Bluebird (Company car) DT250MX (Two broken arms) RD250LC RD350LC Celica XT (into a cast iron lampost, pissed as a fart, broken nose etc) MG Metro (girlfriend's car) Yamaha IT465 (nearly took out a bus-stop full of people) Peugeot 405 Sri CBR900RR FireBlade (4 days old, SMIDSY) Supra TT ....probably a few others I forget at the moment. (Off the road): More than I could begin to remember. I once rolled three different cars in one day, banger racing. Calm down dear, I'm a very careful driver.
  12. I would never have a lightened flywheel again. The slight performance increase is no way worth the downsides, in my opinion. The revs drop far too quickly between gear changes for my liking. But the worst thing is the gearbox rattle they cause. If you want your car to sound like a bag of spanners and for folks to keep asking you what's wrong with your car then you'll love it!
  13. Jake

    Speeding muslim!

£200 for 64mph in a 30? Bargain! What was the rush? Was he worried one of his women was on facebook?
  14. Will you be posting those in the Technical section too ? [/subtle hint]
  15. At stock boost both types are very reliable. At raised boost levels the steel bladed UK turbos are at least as likely to fail (although not as dramatically) as the j-spec ones.
  16. I had my matrix recored. Good as new it was - if not better, And it cost well under a hundred quid.
  17. Ah! Thank Gawd for that. I was racking my brain cell trying to figure it out. There's loads of hits for "IFYWIM" on Google too ! http://www.google.com/search?q=IFYWIM
  18. No, not really. I meant that I didn't know what IFYWIM meant. I guess it's "If x x What I Mean" along the same lines as IYSWIM
  19. I think he means ET39 (ie the offset) rather than e39 (The old 5 series Bimmer)
