Bingo!! Thank you. but.... I don't like him anymore! Damn.

So we're doing 'name your 10 best and 10 most over-rated actors of our generation.' I'm trying to think of the guy that lost a mega amount of weight to play a guy having hallucinations in a "what's real and what's in his paranoia?" type film. I seem to remember it being a very grey kinda cinematography. Any idea who I'm on about? For me the best actors have been .. James Gandolfini Daniel Day Lewis de Niro Viggo Mortensen Edward Norton Ralph Fiennes ... I'm struggling to come up with 10 ! The worst ... Al Pacino (I hate his style of over-acting) Morgan Freeman Larry Fishbourne Nick Cage Tommy Lee Jones Anyone like Hugh Grant, Colin Firth Yours?

That is truly awesome.

No, it was fine. Obviously the revs went into the red for a sec but the rev limiter cut the power instantly. The car was fine for thousands of miles after that, until I blew the engine up due to something else unrelated (FPR vacuum hose came off at high speed and melted a piston)

Yeah, it's just the auto VVTi Supras that have the problem, with the KMH to MPH conversion rather than the delimiting, IIRC. I believe it's to do with the VVTI ECU rather than owt to do with the actual gearbox itself. It's not a major problem, you just can't give it 100% full throttle without it kicking down to 3rd gear. Obviously this is not a good thing if you forget and floor it while doing 140mph, like I did at Bruntingthorpe once.

^ I'm a programmer by trade (C/C++, Delphi, Oracle PL/SQL, Shell scripting, etc etc). I got made redundant a few years ago and took a year off before starting to look for work again. When the time came I honestly didn't fancy going back into an analyst/programmer role. The coding is great but I seemed to spend most of my time writing test plans and documentation. So I applied for a job in Operations at a major company (Visa) and have been working there for three years now and still loving it. I had to re-write my CV for the Ops job to make it sound more Support oriented, rather than Dev - else you look over-qualified to them and they think you won't stick around long. Once you've got yourself an Ops job in a good sized company you are ideally placed to then apply for other IT jobs they've got going, as long as you've got say 1 year's service in.

Yeah it's pretty easy. Once you've got all the plugs through the hole just keep wiggling the loom about and feeding it through until there's enough visible on the inside to get your mitts on. A little patience is all it needs, nothing to worry about.

Sky didn't have any of the world cup matches anyway. Thank God.

Call yourself IT literate! Have you got "Hide Extensions For Known file Types" turned off in Folder Options - View settings? (exact wording varies slightly between windows versions)
-
Nope, they're on the wrong sides.
-
Why would you go into DOS to change a file extension? These are the instructions I used to convert an MP3 into an iPhone ringtone. Worked fine. http://www.pcworld.com/article/156234/turn_any_mp3_into_an_iphone_ringtone.html

They are expensive to run but not all that bad, not if you're used to running a BPU Supra or above. I get about 27mpg usually, in normal fast-road use. If I'm giving it a good thrashing it can dip to the low 20s but never less than that. I always seem to get between 290 and 340 miles per 60 Ltr fill-up, regardless of how it's been driven. If you buy one that's got FBMWSH you probably don't want to start to servicing it yourself. the full BM history is regarded as quite an important thing amongst owners and potential buyers, so you may be knocking big money off the vale of your M3 if you don't keep it up. On the other hand, if you're going to service it yourself you don;t have to worry about buying one with a full BM history, so you could save £££ there. I agree that the stock brakes aren't great. I've upgraded mine for AP Racing ones, which are a massive improvement. The stock ones are fine for normal people though I'm not sure what you mean about the suspension being like jelly. The standard suspension is very firm - too firm for my liking, TBH. On the crap Hampshire roads round here it can be very 'crashy' on get on your nerves a bit. But on fast smooth corners it's brilliant. It honestly handles better than any of the many Supras I've owned and driven over the years. It's certainly not jelly-like in any way I can think you might mean. You're right about the clunky diffs they have. The expensive service, that's the "Inspection 2" service, is only every forth service. I had my Insp II done at the local BMW main dealer, it was £850. OK not cheap but not the £1200 people like to quote. Apart from that InspII, in the 34,000 miles I've done in my m3 so far it's needed one other service; the regular oil and filter change that comes between every Insp I and Insp II service, which cost iirc £210 - which is silly money for an oil and filter change but every 12-15k miles isn't unmanageable, is it? Mine is due its next service right now (note to self: must book it in this week) but that will just be another oil and filter change - and then it'll be good for another 12-15k miles until it'll want an Insp 1, and then another 12-15k after that until the oil and filter change again. So you see, the servicing isn't really anything to be concerned about. FWIW, here are my random other thoughts about buying an e46 m3... Don't worry about the "much sought after" Sat Nav or Harmon Kardon stereo. Both are highly over-rated by sellers. The ten year old tech in the sat nav is pathetic by modern standards. A £100 TomTom makes the newest available (e46 m3) BMW offering look like something out of The Ark. The HK stereo is a reasonable upgrade but nothing brilliant. If you're that into ICE anyway it still won't be good enough. Go for the Coupe not that heavier and poor handling Wendy-house model (I'm assuming you're heterosexual and not a council estate medallion man) Don't buy a Phoenix Yellow one if you might ever want to sell it. Personally, I wouldn't buy a silver one as they look boring and don't stand out at all. If buying one with CSL wheels make sure they are genuine items. Many are poor quality, heavier than stock, CSL copies which sell on eBay and the like for about £400.

In the right bloody section would be a good start.

Japan did great. Very impressed with them. I loved their second goal. So cunning how they had Endo take the freekick when everyone watching was expecting Honda to take it. Completely took everybody by surprise. --- Edit to add ... Also very impressed with Honda passing to his team mate for the third goal when he could well have scored himself. Most strikers would have not have done that. Great team spirit, I thought - especially as it would have made Honda the joint top scorer in the tournament if he'd put it away.

Game over 0-1 Germany deserved to lose that because of their terrible finishing. Klose should never have been sent off though.
-
the Germans are going for it. Pobolski is trying to win it single handed.
-
What the hell, I've put £100 on germany at 8/1
-
Nobody watching the Germany v Serbia game? Klose sent off! Then Serbia scored straight away! Germany 0 Serbia 1 (52mins played)

I don't think that's necessarily true. People are convicted of drink driving without a blood test. A breath test at the Police Station on their proper machine is sufficient. IIRC it's called a Lion Intoximeter, or somesuch. I bet they could, or would, (or do?) just use that as an excuse to pull over anyone they felt like. My lad has been breathalyzed 3 times in the last year but never charged with anything. He doesn't drink and drive at all but they pull him over and breath test him because they can.
-
Zero alcohol limit? Jeez, you won't be able to do anything in this country before long. What's wrong with the current drink drive levels? Anyone over the current levels doesn't really have a good excuse - but lowering the permitted level, IMO, will be making criminals of many folks who are quite safe to drive. It wouldn't do wonders for the already struggling pub trade either. Some people think modified cars are dangerous. Some people have been killed/injured in modified cars. What if the general public decided that there should be a zero tolerance approach to car modding?

I can't stand Alan Green. IMO he's the worst commentator in the business - and that's saying something!
