  1. He's already on FF mate, I got him to start using it ages ago. It was Windows Update that installed IE7 for him. Then when he did a system restore to time before he had IE7 it all went horribly wrong.
  2. Wouldn't you usually still get some compression with a BHG? My money's on holed piston or dropped valve. Hope I'm wrong though. Good luck Hodgster
  3. Yay! Fixed the FIL's PC. Just needed to reinstall IE7. It was cuasing loads of problems; apps wouldn't run, Help And Support wouldn't start, Search wouldn't start, any website you tried to go to IE came up with "Unable To Load Required Module". Still, it's sorted now. I've told him not to touch System Restore in future.
  4. Thanks for the replies everyone. Actually I think it's System Restore that has caused the problem. Apparently my father in law had some slight problem and somebody told him to do a Sys Restore and it fixed the problem (whatever it was) so since then everytime he's had an issue he goes straight for a System Restore! Anyway I'm going over there shortly to see what's up.
  5. Yes it true, in theory. In practise it'll be fine and loads of us do it, me included. CW will say it's all wrong but I've had UK fronts and j-spec rears for the last 30,000 miles without any problems at all.
  6. Good work Dave. Nice to see you lowering the compression ratio the right way. Shame more folks over here don't take the trouble/expense to do it right.

    VVTi Wiring Loom

It would be a shame to miss the chance of having the excellent VVTi but if you do go that way I know of a certain Moderator from here that is looking for a Good Condition used VVTi head.

    VVTi Wiring Loom

I'll take that as a "not interested" then shall I?
  9. I haven't been around there yet but it seems that my father in law might have screwed his PC up and may need XP reinstalled. He bought the PC from a supermarket IIRC. It already had XP Home installed but he didn't get a Windows CD with it to reinstall XP with if (or rather when) reinstall time came around. What to do? I think I can extract the serial number/license key from the registry OK but how do I find out which type of XP Home it is? (OEM, Std, whatever) How many types are there anyway? Am I likely to be able to get hold of the right version of the XP Home CD to reinstall? How do folks with say Dell PCs get on when they need to reinstall Windows?

  13. It was registered in this country before they tightened up the import rules. Same as mine and every other VVTi TT. It's not a UK spec and in fact it would be less desirable if it were one.
  14. That's why you have to depress the clutch pedal to start it. All US spec Supras are like that.

    Hi my Supra

    The UK spec bonnet scoop?
  16. Top Secret body kit my arse. It's Bomex!
  17. Are you going to teach her to drive when she's 17?
  18. Yep, same here. It has to be the absolutely last resort for her to get in it. She'd rather not go somewhere than go in the Supra. She'll happily drive my auto Supra herself though, it's just when I'm driving that she doesn't like it. Anywhere we go together we always go in her Land Rover.

    wanted supra shell

There's a lot of difference between a shell and a car with no engine. A shell has no engine, no drivetrain, no interior, no electrics, no suspension, etc etc Which do you want?
  21. Getting old sucks, doesn't it? My nan on my mother's side (my only remaining grandparent) is 85. Amazingly, both her sisters are still alive. Her older sister, 89, is as blind as a bat and her 'little' sister, a mere 83, has totally lost her marbles. Still, they're all fiercely independent and all live in their own places, on their own. Isn't it strange how women always seem to live longer than men? You never see three 80-odd year old brothers, do you.
