    Uprated clutch

Mate, I had 3½ hours sleep last night, worked 12 hour shifts either side of that and had to drive to London to do it. Forgive me if I'm a little tetchy ATM It's not really the clutch I have an issue with, it's the flywheel that such a clutch constrains you to, and the subsequent 'bag of spanners' harmonics that comes with those sort of flywheels.
  3. ***BREAKING NEWS *** MVP agree with the other traders: you really do need a multi-thousand dollar fuel kit.

If you use a lightened flywheel the gearbox will rattle like the ace of spades at tickover/low revs. It doesn't do any harm but you soon get irritated with people asking you what's wrong with your car. What's the CW clutch good for? About 500 ft-lbs isn't it? How much torque are you expecting from the 4088 Kev?* Call me an old fart but I'm at the stage now where I'd prefer a civilised car than every last ounce of performance. - - - - - - * real torque I mean, not the "Just got back from Thor :ecstatic:" kind.
  5. Ahh! The famous .net thread drift! My bad.
  6. Nobody able to drive is that disabled that they need to park on a crossing's zig-zags and endanger innocent pedestrians. It's either laziness, ignorance or arrogance.

Hehe. I'm planning on swapping clutches the other way : from a mega strong OSGiken twin plate clutch to an uprated CW one. Mainly because I want a clutch that can be used with the stock flywheel. Anyway a CW uprated clutch should be OK with a small 4088 (.81AR), shouldn't it?
  8. That's so true. My Mrs takes the piss out of me because I like cheap crap food like fish fingers and cheapo beef burgers. She loves cooking 'proper' food and we do eat varied and healthy food but sometimes I'd prefer to just have the simple rubbish food, like my mum used to serve up. Mind you, I wouldn't want to eat it every day. It must be a nostalgia thing.
  9. Yeah it's holding together great. I've been giving it some serious stick on the motorways since I started working again and thanks to Ryan's map it drives great. I'd really like to ditch the lightweight flywheel and get back to a stock one but other than that I'm really happy with the car now. I've no complaints about TJ's mechanical skills. I'm not so happy about their mapping and I'm very unhappy with their customer service and business practices. I don't think of pistons as 'bottom end'. To me the bottom end is the crank and parts attached to it. YMMV, seems like splitting hairs really though.
  10. Doesn't that just go the carbon canister? If so it'll make no odds to how the car runs.
  11. decriminalised parking? Was it ever a criminal offence?
  12. Bah. You'll never find anything with kids. Everyone knows that.
  13. Damn you Foster. I was going to post that!
  14. Don't worry mate. I'm well happy to know about stty erase ^H thing again!
  15. THAT'S THE FELLA! I used to have it in my .profile but never had to change it again and forgot all about it. Thanks Gav! ..... Hey, hang on just a goddam minute there muscrat. What about my arrow keys?
  16. This has been driving me nuts for... oh, about six years now. When Telnet'd or SSH'd, whatever, into a *nix box (say AIX or Solaris for example - but I'm sure they're probably all the same) How the fack do you configure the settings so that your backspace and arrow keys work like a PC user would expect them to? I'm fine with using vi/ex keystrokes on the command line but it really REALLY pees me of when I make a tpyo and then end up with bloody ^H^H^H^J^K when I try to correct it. Please help me before I have a Jake-style tantrum at work and do something I'll regret.
  17. What's that got to do with anything?

    HAPPY 52nd BIRTHDAY !
  20. That's right, it's not a monster turbo, it's a good cheap street turbo. Tried and tested both here and in the US. I couldn't care less if Alex and Homer want to have digs about it being a truck turbo, blah blah. I think they're great. (The turbo I mean, not Alex and Homer) Way better suited to the Supra engine than the PHR1 GT60 I had before. I'm not trying to twist your arm though Bry, do what you like mate, makes no odds to me either way. That's what I'd do My Blue VVTi actually has 800cc PE injectors in the stock rail but they're getting an easy life. They seldom see over 60% duty cycle iirc.
  21. As far as i know the bottom end is all stock. I really dunno what's in there. All I do know for sure is that it's got hks pistons, other than that your guess is as good as mine.
