Why does that worry you? The VIN number confirms it as being made in March 96. As an early facelift it may well have some parts that were pre-facelift. It's not unheard of to see early an facelift one with pre-facelift wings.

A 96/97 car couldn't have a VVTi engine, they were first fitted in 97/98 Supras.

What papers is this then? I don't have any Jap Import papers for either of my Supras, does that mean I wouldn't be able to sell either of these cars to a foreign buyer?

285/35/18 is higher than stock and the first time I drove the car after I first fitted them it felt like the arse-end was higher than normal. Weird feeling at first but I don't even notice it now. My car is lowered by the way. As an added bonus, my speedo is more accurate with the large diameter tyres.

Hmmmm. Some slightly misleading information there. Anyway, touch wood mines been very reliable in the time I've owned it. 1 turbo bearing failure and one easily fixed oil leak. Apart from that it's been as sound as a stock TT.

It's definitely illegal to park facing the wrong way after dark, I'm not sure whether it is in daylight though. It wouldn't surprise me, TBH.

I would mate. Apparently if it's not displayed on the nearside it makes it dangerous for cops/wardens to check them properly.

You were lucky to get away with that. The disc is supposed to be displayed on the nearside. I've heard of people being getting done for 'failure to display' because of exactly the same thing.

That's bad advice. Better to say nowt than to give people wrong information like that. Not displaying a valid tax disc is an offence itself, regardless of whether the car is taxed or not.
