  1. Right ok you have a piggy back ECU that sorts your boost and no boost controller? I like being able to adjust boost on the go, especially to check for spikes and boost creep. I love my boost controller, hardly anyone else has it. I paid £66 for a power run, it varies wherever you go, generally around £50 from what I'm led to believe. Well worth it, not just for power figures but to make sure fueling is right and no det
  2. I've only ever seen rolling road tests on YouTube and ye any supra is going to sound nice. My car is particularly loud so expected it to bring the house down. However the place I took it to had one of these special sound proof rooms. It was amazing you couldn't here anything until it got near the red line and I was standing outside the room but only 3 feet from my car, crazy! I was reading my GReddy boost controller manual last night and it says if you set your "start boost" too close to your "target boost" you can get boost spikes resulting in an unstable boost curve. Try lowering you "start boost" level, might smooth out the boost delivery . My old civic type r suffered a lot with heat soak so I assume on a cooler day with a touch more boost I should achieve an extra 20-30hp I guess.
  3. I'm there Sunday so I'll keep an eye out .
  4. Engine Type - JDM TT6 Engine Spec - 3.1 litre, over sized Mahl 86mm pistons and fully forged bottom end. Standard reconditioned head. Turbo - Whifbitz standard twins Fuel Used - Shell V-Power Exhaust - 3" Apexi N1. Full Decat. Transmission - V160 ECU - Standard (Apexi FC Power ECU waiting to go in) Mapped By - Clive Atthowe Tuning (power run only) Dyno Used - Dastek Power figure - 393.9 at the fly. 352.4 at the wheels Torque figure - 325.1 lbft Boost Pressure - 1.1 bar I've just had my engine rebuilt by Whifbitz and after running it in for 1100 miles I was advised to get a power run and check. Happy with the results considering I couldn't of picked a worse day to do a power run, 32.6c ambient temperature lol! I will run 1.2 bar when I'm out on the road and can play around with the boost controller. Anyone know what the typical HP difference is from a hot day to a normal day, +/- 30hp say?
  5. No such list I'm afraid. As per my previous posts I'm going to Santa pod next Sunday 5th July for the jap show. Meeting at Brundall McDonald's at 6am and taking the a11 then a14. People more than welcome to tag along. Or shout out and we can arrange to meet on the way to the pod. Tickets are like £30 I think.
  6. Ye I'm going, first time down the strip to
  7. Ye we will have to catch up some time for a cruise, you can show me your supra, the new house and I can show you a tt6. My car isn't perfect cosmetically as I'm in the process of making her look a1
  8. I'll be getting one of those then, cheers!
  9. I'm not doubting your advice but I'm glad you can appreciate I have to do what the engine builder says.
  10. Cheers interesting bed time read. lol
  11. Cool, I've been looking at them new build houses in Brundall for a while now, I live in Thorpe St Andrews and been thinking about moving down the road. We could be neighbors lol! Ye there will only be three cars so far, my Supra, friends blob eye scooby sti and Audi Tit Tee. Pop down for breaky mate. Hopefully there will be some forum owners who turn up too!
  12. Hi is anyone around the Norwich/ Great Yarmouth area going to Santa pod on Sunday the 5th July for the jap show? If so I'll be meeting up with friends at 6am at the Brundall drive through McDonnell's. We'll have breakfast there and set off about 6.30. Convoy there, stay at Santa pod til about 3pm and convoy back home. Anyone is welcome to tag along, the more the merrier p.s if anyone wants to meet on the way feel free, were travelling from Norwich to Santa pod so it's the A11 and then the A14 we'll be taking.
  13. I assume this leak down test is different to a compression check? Forgive me ignorance
  14. Ye it's getting less frequent and thought it was down to the oil. Can't wait to put my foot down properly it's been a long and laborious run in!
  15. Whilst I'll appreciate your recommendation I've got to go with the advice from whifbitz, which is exactly what I've done. They built it and run their engines in like this. I'm getting a compression check once the final oil change is done so I'll keep you posted Do you hard run in your supra engine builds then?
  16. Ok so I'm 600 miles into the run in (whifbitz recommended run in distance) but I'm going to do another 300 miles just to be on the safe side. I'm changing the run in oil every 300 miles and keeping the car off boost and below 4k revs. Obviously I have never let the engine labour and switch it off if I'm sat for anything longer than a minute. Everything seems to be going ok the engine feels good from what I can tell so far. Although when I'm stationary and pull away I occasionally get a small puff of white smoke? Is that something to do with the thin run in oil I'm using or forged bottom end I have now? Or is something more concerning?
  17. Never heard of a dump value that doesn't make some noise even when dumping at low boost pressure?? I've just changed to HKS SSQV4 recently as I love the sound. However I had an Apexi one before which had a ring on it and that allowed you to adjust the overall sound level.

    Idel Problems

Typical problem on Supra's is the idle control valve. Cost over a grand to get replaced so most people don't bother, my car idled as low as 400rpm once warm.
  19. Ye I assume I'll need another uprated fuel pump too. The list is never ending lol
  20. Good advice, I do have a bit of a habit of turning my focus over with the clutch pedal down for a quick get way. However my supra has always been started and left to warm up a bit before I pull away so hopefully crank thrust bearing issues won't come into play. I believe I have an after market clutch but it's not a heavy duty one, still running full bpu and apexi fc power. As above big single power has to wait.
  21. Ye I know that's next, injectors, single conversion and a clutch and should be good for around 800hp. However funds are tight after this rebuild lol
  22. Great advice here, it's good to get other engine builders opinion. 300 miles on run in oil, no main roads were you are likely to sit at a constant rpm and then after that fresh oil and boost. That's what Paul recommend and clearly he knows his stuff. Slightly off topic will my car sound different as it will be 3.1 litre? Only running full bpu for the time being, just curious if anyone knows?
  23. Well that's good news, it's good to hear positive things. Just can't wait to get it back the weather is getting nice and I need boost in my life again! My td focus just isn't cutting it lol.
  24. Thanks for the feedback, just testing the water really. Clearly I trust Paul or I wouldn't of spent so much money there in recent years and waited patiently for my car to rebuilt. Just hope it's worth waiting for. I'll do exactly what Paul recommends but just wanted the forums experiences. Cheers guys.
