  1. if you got a series 1 1993 supra, you gotta take that top panel off with all the warning lights and the odometer attached to it, and you have to cut a wire on the odometer cables and jump it on another cable, search it up on supra forums.com there is the info there on which cables to do. i had my auto doing the same thing i did the trick and it worked never came on again. The ecu doesnt know how fast the car is going right now, so its in the safe mode, so it will shift rough, and it cut off all of the limits from the ecu, so its got no speed limiter anymore (if your car is j-spec) but you can blow it up if you rev the shit out of it, is what i heard.
  2. also will a front mount intercooler kit with piping for a non vvti 2jz gte supra, fit the vvti 2jz gte supra?? Cause i see that the throttle body look a little different, so im wondering if the diameter is the same as the non vvti throttle body, and if the non vvti after market intercooler pipe will fit over the vvti throttle body perfectly fine
  3. thanks for the replies. I see that there is a bit of an argument about the vvti turbo model having the same steel shaft turbo's as the usdm non vvti engines? and how much does a bone stock vvti turbo model 6 speed make to the crank? i found out 290whp but im wondering to the crank?
  4. also any reliable websites i can order small performance parts from to slowly make it bpu? Also will down pipes fit from non vvti on the vvti?? Where can i get the intercooler piping?? like for aftermarket?
  5. also is the whole stock twin turbo assembly and charge pipes exactly the same as the non vvti ? or have they made some changes to those
  6. TT is short for twin turbo lol. You got the best supra there is twin turbo and v160 tranny.
  7. havent posted here in quite some time guys. but here it goes. After driving around in my good ol 1993 supra Twin turbo auto, i decided it was now time to upgrade. So i sold that, and i have been looking, and finally found one. it is on the way here to Canada, and will arrived in 2 weeks from the best importer in canada. Its a 1998 Supra Twin turbo VVTI 6 speed manual V161. I am quite exited about this, car seems to be in beautiful condition from the pictures. However now i am sort of worried, as people are telling me it kind of hard to find parts for these beauties. And im not really truly understanding the difference between the V160 and the V161 on the 98. Does the clutch system from the v160 fit on the v161?? Also can someone please post me a reliable website that is fairly cheap that i can order, stock and aftermarket parts for it?? Does the HKS TI cat back exhaust system from the non vvti fit the vvti model? thanks in advance guys. Sorry for asking about which website has good fairly cheap parts for it, because i am from Canada and these vvti models never came here.
  8. welcome to the forum man, what kind did ya get tt 6 speed?
  9. i went today and took off the intercooler pipe, and took a pic of the charge pipe, and what was inside the intercooler pipe. I see it is very minimal oil, before this video the car was boosted pretty hard, and i see there is very minimal engine oil in the charge pipe, which i read is perfectly normal? and i also snapped a picture of what is inside my air box. u can see the oil has piled up at the bottom. let me know also im using CASTROl EDGE 10W-30 Fully Synthetic motor oil, the motor oil on my dip stick is cleaner than the one i found in my air box.
  10. we have awesome highways, to really open these things up. I think within the first week i got it, i maxed it out to 190 km/hr, and then the ecu cut it out. The only bad thing is, that cops really have nothing to do here, so they literally camp out on these highways to get us.
  11. i am in located in Alberta, so one province over. and yeah it does get cold as heck here. And i dont have my supra in a heated garage, just an insulated garage. Even tho, coldest its been in the garage was -17 Celcius, and the supra amazingly started up on first crank haha
  12. if you cannot get a friend to follow behind you. then i would first off when i go to see the car check the dip stick if full then its good, take it for your spin doing all of the stuff that the check list says, then after u drive it shut her off, wait 20 mins, then check the dip stick see if any oil has been burned. If possible, call the owners 4 days prior to seeing the car, and ask him nicely, to not start the car from the moment u put the phone down, till the moment you go to see the car. Some supra's like mine wont show weak valve stem seals unless its been sitting for more than 2 days. After u drive the car, try to drive it kind of hard, but politely, if its got the stock air box take out the stock filter, and look for any oil dripping into the air box. also if the owner agrees, after u have driven the car and boosted the car prettty good ,take of the intercooler pipe which shouldnt take much time to take off and observe for any motor oil in the charge pipes. That will give a good idea of the condtion the turbo seals are. Sorry if some of this has been repeated, but over the time of owning my TT supra, i have discovered all these things that will give away any valve stem seal problems or turbo seal problems, which i will make sure to all check when going to view my next TT supra.
  13. Pics will be up soon, i will take the intercooler pipe off once again, and remove the air filter, to show the motor oil in the airbox.
  14. of course! However if i cannot sell my car, i will keep it save up a shit ton of money, and swap a 6 speed into it. either way. I have driven the automatic tt supra, an na 5 speed, and now im trying to upgrade to a 6 speed. Once i have driven the 6 speed. I will be able to say which is best. either way, na 5 speed, i would take a auto TT supra over na 5 speed supra any day. Even with automatic, even tho its got 4 gears, with the manu button, i can drop a gear, and floor it, and it goes. however only spring time will tell the future and relationship between me and my current supra
  15. do they usually tend to go this quickly? I see the car never missed an oil change, and its been maintained very well.
  16. thanks man. yes i am surprised as well. i see in England that the 6 speed swap is quite popular, here in Canada and the states people sell the supras and just buy a 6 speed i guess here we come out cheaper
  17. yes this is the true mileage of the car, i had the car checked out the mileage it was registered in japan, and the mileage it had in japan in 2010, 2008, ect. and the mileage is true on the car. I was afraid of it having rolled back mileage but it doesnt. Its just i am noob, so i cannot understand why im getting oil in my air box, besides the turbo seals i cannot find any other resonable explenation. which i doubt turbo seals go this quickly at only 68 000 miles
  18. your right man. The auto box is very smooth box, perfect for daily driving, makes it like ur driving a mercedes benz, not a TT sports car. I just am more of a manual person, i love to control what the car does, what gear i am in, plus we can all admit that driving a 6 speed supra over an automatic supra is more fun in every way, except when it comes to heavy stop and go traffic. But i dont drive in that at all. Only reason why i got the auto supra was because i couldnt afford a 6 speed supra right off the bat
  19. I havent removed the PCV valve at all. All i did was i simply took the hose off on the exhaust side PCV and capped the the end of the turbo charge pipes, and on the actual PCV valve i put a K&N filter on it, only on the exhaust side, on the intake side i left it all stock. thats why im wondering where this oil in my intake box is coming from, its got my stock air filter on the bottom of it soaked in motor oil. The car has 68 000 miles, do the pistons rings get that worn out at 68 000 miles, or at this mileage get pretty much blown turbo seals???
  20. i would like to purchase a 6 speed. I have doubts that this car will be selling, because i posted it up when fall came around i believe around october, and not one reply or call for it. But who knows come spring time it may sell. Every were i go with this car, people ask me if its 6 speed, i tell them its auto, they tell me its gay. I also saw how happy many supra owners with 6 speeds are, and how bullet proof those transmissions are. So i would like to purchase one to see what all this fuss is about
