I have been researching how to add keyless entry to my 1998 Supra. Here in the states, it was a dealer installed option using the Toyota VIP RS3000 Security System. According to a 1997 installation instruction manual, the Supra base kit was part no. 08585-00920 (later replaced by 08585-00921) and fitting kit part no. 08586-14830. The primary components are an ecu unit, wiring harness, glass break sensor, audio piezo chirper, and two button remote key fobs. The compatible key fobs seem to have numbers 08191-0070, 08191-0071, or BAB237000-129.
The RS3000 ecu can be found on ebay. The fitting kit with the wiring harness appears to be unobtainable. I was able to get a kit for a 2002 Corolla; however, the electrical connectors are different as compared with the Supra instructions. The Supra only needs 4 connectors; the Corolla uses 10. No sources have been found in the U. S. for the 25 pin and 9 pin connectors used on the Supra the theft deterrent and door lock ecu. The part numbers I selected are listed below. A request has been submitted to Amayama Trading Company (http://www.amayama.com). Hopefully this source will be successful.
90980–11057 25 pin housing, male
90980–11058 25 pin housing, female
90980–11534 9 pin housing, male
90980–11535 25 pin housing, female
The connector part numbers were found in the Toyota Wire Harness Repair Manual 1991-2005, document no. RM1022E. Using the 1997 Service Manual found online, the connectors are part of the Theft Deterrent and Door Lock ECU. Matching the connector drawings in both Toyota documents were used to find a part number. The wire terminals that fit into the connector housings appear to be more readily available. I need to figure out which terminals to use. That will require some investigation of the connectors in the Supra.
One feature of the Corolla kit that is not on the Supra kit is the trunk release circuit. The trunk/hatch release appears to be only mechanically operated in the Supra, but AutoLok, http://www.autoloc.com, offers a solenoid retrofit kit that might work. The struts on my rear hatch are getting weak. It won't hold the hatch up out of the lock mechanism.
My current project is to make a wiring diagram for the RS3000 to use for the modification. Nothing has been found on the internet.
