  1. The BAFX Products wireless Bluetooth OBD2 (OBDII) diagnostic car scanner and reader tool for Android devices works on my 1998 Supra. It is available on Amazon in the United States. Manufacturer Part Number BAFX3127
  2. According to my parts information. The 1993 to 96 Supra used part number 90913-02106 for the intake valve seal. There is a note states that part number 90913-02106 was replaced by part number 90913-02123. My car is a 1998 model. It has different parts.
  3. The valve seals were just replaced on my '98 Supra. I used the part numbers below. So far, it stopped the smoke release on start-up. Intake : 90913-02090 Exhaust: 90913-02088

A picture from 2012 after I took delivery of the car.
  5. Would the US cars be another category? It is interesting how many variations exist. My 1998 most closely fits the RZ-S model. It is not a VVTI motor. It has cream leather seats and the electric drivers seat. It does not have the 5 dial instrument panel or the analog clock. Maybe a 5 dial instrument panel was not made for left hand drive cars. It does not have electric folding side mirrors.
  6. The BAFX Products 34t5 Bluetooth OBDII Scan Tool was discovered recently. It works on my 1998 Supra with the original ECU. Mine is an Android version since my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5. It works with the Torque app. https://bafxpro.com/products/obdreader Previously iSaddle Super Mini and iKKegol OBDII Bluetooth Mini V2.1 scan tools were tried but did not work.
  7. Amayama Trading Company provided a quotation for the connector parts, so the connectors are still available. Work will continue on the wiring diagram while waiting on the order to be delivered.
  8. I have been researching how to add keyless entry to my 1998 Supra. Here in the states, it was a dealer installed option using the Toyota VIP RS3000 Security System. According to a 1997 installation instruction manual, the Supra base kit was part no. 08585-00920 (later replaced by 08585-00921) and fitting kit part no. 08586-14830. The primary components are an ecu unit, wiring harness, glass break sensor, audio piezo chirper, and two button remote key fobs. The compatible key fobs seem to have numbers 08191-0070, 08191-0071, or BAB237000-129. The RS3000 ecu can be found on ebay. The fitting kit with the wiring harness appears to be unobtainable. I was able to get a kit for a 2002 Corolla; however, the electrical connectors are different as compared with the Supra instructions. The Supra only needs 4 connectors; the Corolla uses 10. No sources have been found in the U. S. for the 25 pin and 9 pin connectors used on the Supra the theft deterrent and door lock ecu. The part numbers I selected are listed below. A request has been submitted to Amayama Trading Company (http://www.amayama.com). Hopefully this source will be successful. 90980–11057 25 pin housing, male 90980–11058 25 pin housing, female 90980–11534 9 pin housing, male 90980–11535 25 pin housing, female The connector part numbers were found in the Toyota Wire Harness Repair Manual 1991-2005, document no. RM1022E. Using the 1997 Service Manual found online, the connectors are part of the Theft Deterrent and Door Lock ECU. Matching the connector drawings in both Toyota documents were used to find a part number. The wire terminals that fit into the connector housings appear to be more readily available. I need to figure out which terminals to use. That will require some investigation of the connectors in the Supra. One feature of the Corolla kit that is not on the Supra kit is the trunk release circuit. The trunk/hatch release appears to be only mechanically operated in the Supra, but AutoLok, http://www.autoloc.com, offers a solenoid retrofit kit that might work. The struts on my rear hatch are getting weak. It won't hold the hatch up out of the lock mechanism. My current project is to make a wiring diagram for the RS3000 to use for the modification. Nothing has been found on the internet.
  9. I found a Toyota Wire Harness Repair Manual (1991-2005), document no. RM1022E. It has information on electrical connectors and terminals. A PDF version was found on the internet. Another forum posted information that most of the connectors were supplied by Sumitomo from the TS series. The connectors I have researched are either type 1.3 or 2.3 II. Not too many sources for these connectors have been found. The most promising is http://www.amayama.com. With this site a material list is created and submitted for quotation.
  10. Thank you for the compliments. It a North American model JZA80L with aerotop, blue mica metalic, automatic, no LSD, and leather seats. No big plans yet. The power output is currently more than I am accustomed. Current plans are to swap over some convenience items from my Pontiac: Auto dimming rear view mirror with Homelink, stereo receiver with Bluetooth and digital media inputs, and infinity 5 channel amp. Maybe add seat heaters, data monitoring, boost guage, etc. The first mechanical modification in the future would be to adapt a limited slip diff.
  11. Hello, I just got a 1998 Supra TT from my sister, original owner. It's in great condition with 67k miles. I'm hoping it lasts many more years.
