  1. Um never done brake lines before, is it a difficult job? They are purely surface rust as mentioned, can they not just be coated? The car has literally just passed an mot with them.... I changed a clutch line on the mr2 and this was the worst job i have ever had to do! If i do change them can i just get a roll of copper pipe and run this? Would a garage charge much to do this type of job as it would surely be quicker than removing everything to put the standard ones on....
  2. I also have found some corrosion to the brake lines at the rear on the passenger side. After checking them it is all surface rust but is obviously an issue. Should i rub them down and apply loads of copper grease or just chuck grease on as they are? Here is a pic so you can see what i mean. The pic does make it look a tad worse than is.
  3. I havent fitted new plugs yet. I removed the ht leads and inspected those and the area around the plugs to check for oil etc....
  4. Great thanks. I will grab some heat wrap today then. I assume that most of the stuff on ebay is cheap twonk.... The starting issue has been after removing the leads. But it is only when cold, but i would imagine if the pugs need changing this would be the issue anyway
  5. I will pop along to this on the next date. Would've done today had i seen this post sooner....
  6. Are you selling the original rear diffuser you had in the earlier pics?
  7. Im having a little trouble starting the Supra. It is only when cold but it takes quite a while to fire up. Everything is sounding as it should but the car doesn't actually fire. I had all of the ht leads removed to check them and the plugs so im wondering if this is why, or perhaps it is just a sign that it needs a new set of plugs? I also have heat shield rattle. Do i try and fix this or wrap the exhaust. If i wrap the exhaust is this ok to do with a standard exhaust and what wrap should i use etc etc.
  8. Cheers for that. Will be going to motaquip to get a service kit in the next few days

    Coventry?

Ah very close then. :-) Done much work to them yourself?
  10. I did indeed. Seems absolutely solid atm, par a few niggles, so very greatfull to him.
  11. Ah i hadnt even thought of that. I assume the coolant pipe (lower engine one) is made of the same material, and water will get to this from seepage from the hose and dripping from the vent. I love the standard wheels soooo much! Everyone keeps telling me to change them. But when i was younger i had a brochure with a red supra exactly like mine (less the bonnet) so would like to keep it like that... I also need to work out how to remove the rear window tint as its terrible to see out of, and work out how to put new plugs in!
  12. Spent the afternoon cleaning my new supra. Still cant find any rust on there at all. Anyway here is how she looks: I also took the cover off to have a gander... Looks like a new timing belt to me: I also had a look at the block too. There is some white, dusty type stuff around the block and on one coolant hose. Im guessing at some point this is a sign the head was done?
  13. Yer i love it too. Done around 300miles since got it and bought it from a member on here. :-) Still trying to work things out and want to do full check
  14. Sorry no its starting fine, but by the time ive put my son in the back the car re-arms! It a very slight ticking noise, it goes when the clutch is pressed down. But there is no real bearing noise as such. All gears are smooth. The ticking is there when moving too, but it is most obvious when at idle. Im also looking for a tech manual so that i can carry out some work to the car and just learn about it as it is soooo different from the mr2. Also how do i find out exactly what model i have. I know its not a turbo obviously....
  15. Hi, Im a new owner too. Both have same reg nearly same import date. ;-) Mine has covered a few more miles though. :-)

    Coventry?

Awesome. What are you driving? Any mods/knowledge of working on em etc :-D
  17. The car does nothing. Key turns but nothing happens at all. But if i can disarm it with a code i will do this rather than removing. Going to take a look tomorrow and try and figure out what the ticking noise is. And do a service. Are there how to guides on here

    Coventry?

    Much supra activity in Coventry?
  19. Thank you :-D Any idea on the old ticking noise....
  20. To be honest my insurance goes up by nearly £100 for having an alarm and immobiliser fitted. Ideally rather than taking it out id like to just disarm it. It gives me about 20seconds to get in the car and start the engine!
  21. I have just bought my supra and it has an autowatch immobiliser and alarm that was fitted in 1999. I have the installer card but i dont think they are in business anymore. Its driving me nuts, how would i go about removing this or deactivating the immobiliser and just keeping the central locking. I also have a slight ticking coming from the car that goes away when the clutch is depressed. I asked this in another post then found this tech specific section
  22. Great thanks. I hadnt thought of that. The car has uk spec rear lights though i think......... Anyone that can answer my other questions much appreciated :-D
  23. Cheers for the replies. Yer pretty sure the rattle is from a heatshield but just work out which one now. There is also a rattle/sqeek type noise like i mentioned that goes when the clutch is pressed. Could this just be the flywheel? Or should i look more into this? The clutch is biting really low and feels very new..... I also have an alarm that you need to press a button to release central locking. The problem is there is an immobiliser too and if you dont start the car in time you have to lock and unlock the car again. Anyone midlands based a pro at removing these? Here are a few bits that i did today... Removed the hideous gear stick and replaced it with the tiny one i had re-trimmed for my mr2: I also pinched the clear side repeaters from the mr2: And the washer jets as it had some hideous led things: Next is a good polish and service, but here is how she stands at the end of the day: Is there a how to service guide on here at all? Also my fold mirrors button does not work, or adjustment for driverside, passenger side is fine. I also have a weird red switch below my cd player???
  24. Thanks for all the initial help. Car now bought :-D
  25. Yer drove like a granny sticking to 70 the whole way on the m1. Booted it from a slip road twice but that was it. Was too tired :-( Ill take the wheels off and check them later this week then :-) What oil does it use, i always used 10w40 in the mr2, is it the same in the supra? I have 10litres of red coolant lying around too from the mr2 also. :-)
