    Photoshop

Hi, Is anyone good with photoshop? I would like some assistance please
  2. Spent the afternoon with Keron at extreme-performance in Leicester. Absolute top bloke and a legend for fixing my car. Basically after looking at the car and hearing it running he figured the noise and vibration were being caused by the alternator. So he wipped it off and found that it was knackered. Im talking really buggered, ive never seen one that has broken in this way before and supposedly this was a new refurbed unit. Anyway the pulley had movement in it to the point where the reverse side had been carving into the housing of the alternator! Not only this the thread that the spindle connects to was moving in and out making a horrible noise. Ive taken a video of the alternator and posted here so you can see, but pretty worrying considering the unit is brand new refurb!
  3. Hi Keron, just wanted to publicly say thanks very much for sorting my supra today! :-D Very happy its not killing itself any more, and my power steering is lighter too now!
  4. I think my toyota must be quite good. Spoke about the brake line corrosion. The technician said he wouldn't use toyota brake lines as they are pre-bent. He said he's chop the old out and use copper and bend make new ones. All 4 with labour 200quid...
  5. So to remove this belt what do i do? Do i simply loosen the tensioner pulley and slip the belt off. How long can i run it for, 30 seconds? Should i try pulling the cam pulley from side to side to check for movement before doing anything. I spoke with keron at performance in leicester and said i can pop over tomorrow, so il have to drive it to him then...
  6. I did think about this too. But it seems very rattly for that. I would imagine that this would also cause other problems when accelerating hard or breaking. In my mr2 you could almost feel the block rocking....
  7. Ok thanks. Im just thinking after reading that other post about the dampner. The engine resinating vibrations etc, if this was going causing more vibration, then the engine and everything connected would be vibrating more, especially at idle. Would explain why when i lift the revs it goes away. Also why ive had a tiny bit of belt squeal.
  8. Spot on thank you for that photo. My belt is sitting further towards the edge of the pulley than that. Basically mine is sitting the same as yours but rather than free space being front bumper side like yours has in the photo, my belt is right up at the edge of the pulley..... The belt looks in fairly good shape so i didnt think it was that. But im just hunting for what the heck it could be. Have you listened to the video? It really doesn't sound knocky imo so im just trying to narrow it down. Thanks for the photo though
  9. Could someone please tell me how to change the title of a thread. I want to make it more relevant to the technical help needed.
  10. That will be an interesting one then if you know for sure your car is sweet. I would hope that most garages are fairly honest, but i guess we all know that isn't the case. Speaking of garages does anyone know one in the Coventry area. Really need to take my car in tomorrow...
  11. Ok i will try and get a photo. But like i said it is maybe a millimetre over the edge of the pulley. Am i looking in the right area though for the vibrations im getting? I assume the belt should sit perfectly in the middle of the pulley though. Also a pretty hard question to answer, but if the car is driving great and feels fine in every way apart from making this noise, should i be worried about making necessary journeys?
  12. Mine doesn't have a cover on it. But yes the pulley im talking about is slap bang in the middle and the smallest of them all. This is the one the belt is not quite sitting on right. I moved the belt but it goes back to sitting off slightly. The belt goes on this tensioners smooth side down correct?
  13. The one the belt is on smooth side touching the pulley? If so this is the one that the belt is sitting slightly off.
  14. It is slightly off towards the front bumper. Very fractionally. How does one remove the belt, i could not see a tensioner as there was on the mr2...
  15. Wow that does sound like a lot! Guess they have a set of guidelines to follow or something... Or perhaps your toyota dealer is just full of d***s.

    Coventry?

Should possibly organise a small meet in Coventry? One of the slightly outer limit pubs rather than inner city?
  17. Every mr2 i owned i have taken to toyota for one of these inspections and that is quite a few. They have come back clear on occasion, but others have needed work. Ive then gone and done it myself. Ive never paid Toyota to do the work they suggest, but its nice to get a once over by a mechanic now and again.
  18. Also here is a new video. I think this better depicts the sound.
  19. What came back? Mine was completely clear par two light bulbs. Im surprised they found that much wrong with a visual inspection unless you have some serious rust or worn rubbers.
  20. Thanks. How do i change the title. Right i now spent the day looking over the Supra for a solution. This morning i checked the oil and it was actual registering that it had about a quarter left in it. So i started her up for a few seconds and then back off again. Then checked the oil, it was now not registering again. So anyway i went and bought more oil and a filter. Chaneged the oil out and it was like tar! So put the new filter on and filled back up with just about 5.6 litres. Test drove for a while and the noise is still there. After listening really closely all over the engine i think it is coming from the front. It is also definitely not a deep or bottom end kind of noise. I think it is serious vibration from somewhere but am not certain. Ive held all of the heatshields in place but this did not stop it. There is almost a slight squeaking sound too, but it is not constant. My next question is could one of the pulleys be causing this? The aux belt does sit slightly off on one of the pulleys (the one the belt touches smooth side to be precise). Has anyone had this type of problem before? Lastly the car is still not using any water or burning oil. Pulls well in every gear and is driving normally. After todays driving and monitoring the oil i can safely say (touch wood) that the car is not loosing oil at all. Any suggestions now would be greatly appreciated.
  21. I just read something online that got me thinking about the oil. If the oil put into the car was not 10w40 what else would it be? Would me adding 10w40 (as this is recommended) cause this issue, would it result it a stickier substance and cause the cams to stick or rattle? Just a wild thought as the noise is from the upper of the engine not the lower... Also should rod knock not just occur on a higher rev range when hitting it and reducing back down on revs. When i rev the engine the knocking seems to go away then come back again.
  22. Oh also there is no oil warning light. Not even when the engine was started a few hours ago. Which i assume means the sump had enough oil in it....
  23. Bell housing? Its not going to the cooling system as i topped this up too. This level has not moved at all, if anything dropped a very slight amount. What severity would you say that knocking is? Low enough that there may not be "real" damage and putting oil in could help?
