Managed to work on the car again today. Have got everything done. The intercooler is all pipes up and the turbo is secure, one bolt is a nightmare to get too so im hoping its tight enough. Can't fit the filter past the dizzy cap so looks like i will be mapping filter'less so will have to secore a gauze or something similar over the turbo for safety. Started the car and the erratic idle has gone however the car is still idling pretty high. Hoping that this can be sorted when Lyndon maps it. The intercooler piping sits quite low on the passenger side so i will also have to look at changing this soon if it causes me issues, however i have manage to fit all of the undertrays which should give me some protection. (The second to last pic, the undertray isnt secured further back the car, it is the bit to the right that is low, i ran out of zip ties to secure the bit further back. Plan for later if it stops hailing!)

I'm there. If mapping goes well Sunday I'll be running mine to see what power it's making I can bring my dslr too! - - - Updated - - - Allow 20mins ish. Tops I'd say.

Trust me OBX, second decat and that piping following the original lines but removing boxes is not restrictive. The box was. Until I did around 100 miles and blew the baffles out. It's definitely not restrictive now. Ran 206bhp on the Dyno the other week Thanks for the compliment. Wanted something different. Sticking with it at nat too to deliberately be restrictive and keep boost down.

Ok before you shoot me i typed this into the search and it hasnt brought it up. I need a part number for the 4 runner cap that has ALL of the leads pointing out to the side. Also the method for correct installation.

I think if you have always stayed clear of tinny exhaust then keeping near stock with an obx manifold will give you an awesome result. its pretty much what i did and the noise my car makes is immense. I did this:

Sorry misread the earlier bit. The obx gives a really nice mechanical kind of rasp, not the jap bean can type of noise. Really improves low end torque too, or feels to....

Just as a heads up the obx manifold/header makes one hell of a noise. Its great, but it is seriously loud!

No worries dude Just as soon as you can would be ace as i'd like to get a full 4 swap done and 'tart' up the ones you have off the car before fitting so i have nice new functioning brakes for being turbo.. My drivers calliper likes to kill disks for funsies!

This is how far i got today. Just need to plumb in the intercooler and attach the boost line to the wastegate and fit the airfilter now. Seem to have a very high idle though and it is a bit lumpy on idle. Hoping this will calm down once it is complete!

If what you have is fine and not in a bad way then i dont see why changing it is necessary. A 'good' used turbo could fail instantly, that is the risk with used parts fullstop. If yours was on its way out but had been a reliable good turbo, i'd just buy another one new if they are cheap and run that as you know what they are like.

Why not buy a new cheap turbo. Chinese copy or something from a uk supplier for that money. Comes with a 12 month warranty. You spend same amount but get some come back on it if needs be?......

With prices going up in Japan would exporting back out there be an option? I have no idea how it works, but they love modified cars and like you say yours is very unique
