Good day all. I have always been a fan of the extreme OTT look of drift cars. Much like the ones on Tokyo drift. And I either like supras looking either pretty much stock with subtle changes or the Japanese drift car look. Do any of you lovely people have supras with the drift scene look? And if so can you post up some pictures? I'm thinking of making mine look a bit mental obviously. But I need some ideas

How To: Change the cambelt (93 J Spec TT Auto)
Twisted replied to markssupra's topic in Technical Reference & FAQs
Before I start doing this on my supra, is this the same for a 2000 vvti TT triptronic model? -
Yeah the £6000 was the quote from the garage to the insurance company who are paying it. I don't have 6 grand spare to fix it ha! I always thought if it can be repaired for less than the cost of the car then it's not a write off and not Cat D or C. I won't be selling her anyway. I plan on keeping her for many years and if need be take her off the road if I can't afford to run her. Besides I quite like this car and I know these models are getting rarer. Especially seeing as I already had one written off which I believe SPG is still in the process of bringing back to life. (Sorry if I've spoilt anything) I am pretty happy anyway, I didn't want to have to argue with the insurance for more money and go through the process of trying to find yet another supra that I like. Especially seeing as I am very picky. Only a late facelift TT with low mileage and almost completely standard will do.

She is getting fixed! Will cost a little over 6 grand and it gives me an opportunity to put my new trial rear bumper on and get the arches rolled
-
Not that I'm thinking of doing this yet. It would be years down the line if I was going to. But say I wanted my current TT to be an aero top and as a result decided to take everything off my TT and place it into a NA aero top shell would that be cheaper than buying a TT aero? I'm guessing it wouldn't be but I'm assuming TT aero tops are going for £15000 maybe in the UK when they come up and my TT would probably sell for 8 grand I think that there is a chance it would be cheaper to convert it. Thoughts?

Here's some more pics of the damage. The boot crumpled in on the spare wheel so it no longer fits in its place. I'm not sure if it'd fixable. I am just concerned about the dent in the rear left quarter and that the rear behind the bumper has been pushed in as seen in the pics. Anyone know if these can be fixed whilst keeping the integrity of the vehicles safety?

What annoys me the most is yet again I was driving very sensibly and I still got smashed into. And we do genuinely have whiplash so it's not a case of "whiplash"! I'm not one to make false claims as I can easily be found out if they ask me to see a doctor. My insurance will also go up, but it's not my fault if someone crashes into the back of me when I'm driving as I should. So cry me a river but that's why insurance is there. Just something we have to deal with. Unhappy with the costs? I here Ford Ka's are cheap to insure...

You can kind of see the dent in the left hand side. I will take pics tomorrow when I get her into the workshop in work to have a better look. The exhaust had a small amount of damage on it anyway and now it has a little dent on the rim of the exit
-
Haha you vultures. If it is a write off I will definitely be buying it back without a doubt. He was driving a VW passat estate. I think his radiator is smashed but his mainly looks cosmetic. I was surprised his airbags didn't go off though. He was proper friendly and apologetic. Didn't directly accept fault but pretty much acknowledged it was his fault. He knows. He seemed old enough and sensible to know family man. I feel bad for him as well. Shit for both of us. Got 3 whiplash claims going in anyway. I had 2 passengers. The damage doesn't look too bad on mine. The crash bar looks damaged though :/
-
It's ridiculous. The guy was proper friendly. He knew it was his fault. Said his foot slipped off the brake because of muddy shoes... The rear left quarter panel is dented which is what I'm worried about as it can't just be replaced. I'd happily start again haha. I actually genuinely have whiplash as well and so do the two girls in my car at the time.

Crashed into yet again! Brilliant! Not my fault but im starting to think people don't like me having a supra. Glad everything is declared :/

Best off calling your careers office and ask. The regulations change constantly.

My mate couldn't get Into the marines with a history of asthma but got into the army just fine. Depends on which branch you want to join.

Thank you

I think they should just put a slightly better than BPU'd 2JZ in it but not single turbo Also the looks are disappointing. Whilst I think it looks amazing it's ruined the concept of a supra for me. It doesn't look remotely modifiable aesthetically. It looks like a rich persons toy, even in 13 years time it will cost waaaay more than the MKIV. Same with the GTR, each modified one doesn't look much different from the next modified one. Aren't they meant to be average Joe cars at affordable prices that outshine the higher end cars on the car scene?!

yes, How much further out can the tyres sit from the arches? If at all
-
What is the law on tread showing from beneath the arches? Does anyone have a link or website I may be able to find it on? I've done a search around google and I just keep getting forum answers of "I'm an MOT tester but I don't know" and "My mate got stopped and got 3 points" and "I've never had a problem there isn't a law against it". Does anyone on here know for definite and have proof to back up it up? Reason I ask is because I have just put some 25mm spacers on and they look a lot nicer, sitting flush-ish with the arches, but I'd like to push them out a little further but not at the expense of a fine or 3 points.

Wanted to bump this post just for any new members. Good reference I think I gave it a try but got stuck... unlock the car using key fob, pressing the smooth button once Or use the key (note of caution - the alarm may sound) Take your hand and pull the door handle to gain access into car Once open you need to gain access to the back seats (so I've heard) You may wish to place your foot in the drivers foot well to give you stability for this next step Like so From there you need to locate this lever on the seat Pull the lever to allow the backrest to come forward Now I've been told to find a lever in the back on the seats. This is what I think it MIGHT be but I got pretty confused so I left it there. I think this is it Didn't want to pull it though just incase it was a parachute release. I heard they can only be used once so I am saving it incase I ever accidentally drive out of a plane.

2014 bump. First one!!
-
Bump Still not found the release catch. Someone said my step by step guide showed a picture of it but I can't see it anywhere on any of the pics
-
I heard there is a boot release catch on some. But I've yet to see one. Pretty rare I think.

You think the 40mph brigade are bad. I've had to experience north Devons 30mph army! Now I am no angel of course. I do speed quite a lot but generally stick to 30mph in the 30mph zones. Not 30mph on the 60mph roads!! It's beyond frustrating. I overtook one (in a 60mph zone) and he had the audacity to start flashing me!!! I don't get frustrated with those who travel at the speed limit. But those that insist of travelling 20 - 30 mph slower than the limit need to have their licenses taken off them. It's just dangerous! Especially when there are no factors stopping them travelling safely at 50 - 60mph in the appropriate zones!
