How? I go back to my point of 3x10 being better for strength. Common sense for me. With obvious correct and incorrect parties. Buts how are you supposed to know if 5x5 or 3x10 is better when weightlifting, just because I say one thing and someone else says another? Would you rather not have evidence as to which is better for your goal? again, I don't care as to the answer, I just wondered if the OP's comment was proven or disproven by an experienced or professional credible source. You can't deny cold hard evidence of something that's happened/happening/will happen When I asked "has one or the other been proven" someone could have replied "yes, it's in the thread somewhere" and this pointless back and forth between me.and you would have been avoided. Although it's entertained me tonight haha
-
As I said before I don't care as to what the actual answer is. All I read was "its this because I know it is" followed by "no its not because I know it's not". I only asked if one or the other was proven because the original poster seemed adamant it worked very well if not better from his experience but provided no evidence to back it up... At no point did I say it worked better. I'd personally assume it wouldn't work better because of the reasons stated by you and others but I wasn't going to comment because I don't actually know about that subject in enough depth to have any credibility

No need to be a dick about it. You can't even compare that example. I have no real substantial knowledge of the physics of air flow around cars. It's like me asking you if someone said to you "lifting a weight 5x5 is better for strength than lifting a weight at 3x10" would you need proof or is common sense enough? Just because it's "common sense" for you doesn't mean It will be for someone else...
-
That's all I wanted to know haha. If it's been answered and the answer proven and you say it has then I will believe you. I was just giving my opinion on how it looks and my thoughts. I only asked because on my phone I would of had to troll through 68 pages of posts and thought it easier to ask someone who actually kept up with the thread as it went along.

Well yeah that's what everyone will obviously think and it's very interesting. However my point still stands. Where is the EVIDENCE that says it does or it doesn't work better than a normally fitted fmic? (Pictures/videos of readings/testing etc etc.) Because at the moment the next guy is just repeating the last. I'm not saying that it's down to everyone else to prove it's wrong but if you're going to say "it doesn't work" at least provide evidence, because he's saying it does work. So Its just your word against his
-
I don't fancy scrolling through page after page of comments but has there been any evidence to show if it works better or worse than the usual way fmic are set up? I'm not saying it does or doesn't work and quite frankly I could care less. But I'm asking more towards resolving the issue of whether it works or not. Or is what you mean by "its doesn't work" is that you think It looks horrendous?

I like how extreme it is. Wouldn't do it myself mainly because I prefer the stock look and the practicality of stock as a every day car. It would however get a load of attention/publicity at meets etc. As they say, any publicity is good publicity... I'd happily walk into the show car area of a meet and admire the work done, as long as it's done perfectly as a show car should be. You may all hate it but by talking about it you're drawing more attention to it

Whats the stupidest diy job you've done on your supra/car???
Twisted replied to Clinton's topic in Supra Chat
Being a mechanic in the marines I've done a fair few stupid things. Too many to remember all. 1. Checking the drum brake pads on a really really old recovery truck and forgetting to put a vital part back on that keeps the drum and wheel studs attached, it lead to someone having a hairy moment when test driving it around the base and a rear wheel almost came off. L I'm usually very careful to keep things together that I take off and had left these bits out during our clean up day and I'm positive to this day someone moved and lost the part I needed. This was put back together a week later by me so I'd forgotten what parts i should expect to see in the pile to put back on. 2. Jacked up a land rover, on a slant, using a small 4 tonne jack, to check wheel bearings, whilst two guys were in the back sorting out the comms equipment. Upon lowering it down it slipped off the jack and scared the shit out of the bloke in the back 3. Cam belt change on the surpa, putting it all back together, just put the fan back on, looked at my tool box and saw a thin circular metal plate that is supposed to go behind the crank pully... 4. Not my doing. My mate who was helping out with the cam belt change re-attached the battery but forgot to tIghten it up. Drove home 105 miles, no problem, drove all weekend around bristol, no problem, driving back I got to the bottom on my road, put my footdown, it kicked down the suddenly everything died whilst I was rolling along at 40mph, managed to roll it to the side of the road without steering wheel locking up, luckily it was on a sort of back road industrial estate area. Opened the bonnet and found the terminal had popped off. Pretty lucky I think. Could have been much worse. 5. Recently changed my front bumper and basically took the old one off in a way that meant there was no way I was getting it back on without fiberglass in it first to repair it. So the newly painted one was going on regardless. Only problem was that I didn't have the clips required that allow me to put in a bolt or screw without a nut the other side. What should have taken less than an hour took me all day. Finding bolts, washers and nuts that fit securely in the holes was a task in itself as our nuts and bolts area is rubbish. Then I realised the importance of these little clips and I'm forcing my arm into the smallest gaps to get a nut on the inside of the bumper, in the process I managed to flake off loads of paint from the underside of the bumper it can't be seen unless you look underneath. But now that required repainting! I'll note that I bought some of those clips in the end and replaced the nut and bolts with clips and screws Generally I've gone about doing things the hard way because I was being impatient and didn't stop to think whether there was an easier way to do the task. 9 times out of 10 there was. I regularly do stupid things through being impatient and I shall update you all as I go -
Looks good to me. You around next weekend? That's the only opportunity I have to come see it over the next 4 weeks
-
Yeah definitely. Is it off a facelift? If not can I see a pic to check the fixing points? What colour is it? How much for it with p&p?
-
So today I got round to fitting my standard front bumper and active front spoiler. Not a massive deal I know but I'm pretty chuffed with how it turned out and that everything is working fine All I need now is that little lip that goes between the spoiler and bumper. Does anyone have one for sale or know the part number for it? Went to Toyota yesterday but they couldn't find it on their system

Thank you

Surely there is someone who can crawl under their car and take a couple snaps

I've bought a new standard bumper from Toyota, had it painted and come this weekend I will be ready to fit it. I have a problem though that you lovely lot may be able to help me with. First off the bumper has a lot of flex in it due to being a really soft plastic, even after painting, so does anyone know where I should put the flex supports (I don't know what they are really called), how many should I put on and would one of you be so kind as to take pictures of the rear your standard front bumper so I can see all the fixings etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Tristan

Unfortunately I won't be able to make any events now until September time. Work is sending me up to Scotland for 4 weeks then I'm off to zante to 3 weeks straight after! bit gutted about being sent to Scotland as it's during all the nice weather down here ah well -
I have spigot rings because the wheels are a little big for the hub, but I've not have a problem since fitting them. I have toyo 45/245 on the front I believe. I'll look into getting them balanced again. A weight probably fell off or something Cheers bros

So this is pretty weird. Not came across it before. I get wheel wobble from 70+ at its worst by 80. I cant drive through it but by 100 it's not as bad but still very noticeable. Going around corners doesn't affect it, speed fluctuations doesnt affect it. What I believe can affect it is the the road surface, generally the smoother the road the less it does it and normally on brand new tarmac it stops completely. But even this is intermitent. It's just completely random for it to stop. I've tried recreating it but nothing I do works, speed, road surface, cornering, gradient, nothing... I noticed the problem since I had new tyres fitted on the front, so maybe it's the balancing but would this be intermittent? Also I changed my wheel nuts but that was when I had the old tyres on and I can't remember noticing wheel wobble. I was assured by the company I bought them off at japfest that the ones I bough were the right size for the surpa on aftermarket wheels. Does anyone have any idea as to stopping this?

Probably was a good idea we didn't have banners or a tent. As said above the wind was horrendous and one guy would of had to stand there holding it just in case ha! Ironically I actually wanted to hide my car as it was in a poor state. I'd have happily swapped with the member who has been saying about how he got blocked in. Especially if I knew you had kids. One for future reference to anyone I've only got me and one mate to worry about at these events and we don't mind getting wet as much as children. I had a brilliant day
