  1. They should stick a digit up your (usually - or until you join) one way road but they didn't do that for me Look at is as a bonus if they do. It'll be a good way to break in all the bumming you'll be getting from the other matlo's ha
  2. What are good measurements for a decent aggressive look?
  3. Care to show me? - - - Updated - - - Care to show me?
  4. I'm not in the slightest offended. Pissed off more than anything. I can take banter just as well as anyone. But if you're going to tell me in all seriousness that I'm wrong at least provide evidence as to why I am wrong rather than be a knob about it and just say "you have no idea what you're talking about". It's frustrating.
  5. oh no! Seeing as the "master mechanic" won't tell me why I am wrong then I'll just put it down to magic that stopped black smoke coming out of the exhaust once a split pipe was replaced. I hope all you middle aged, mid life crisis men can forgive me!
  6. I was making more of a speculation with the second paragraph to explain what I said in the first paragraph. I obviously should have made a little clearer what I was on about. Basically I was told of a recent fault where black smoke was coming out the back of the vehicle and instead of being as commonly suspected fuel related it turned out to be caused by a split in one of the pipes leading from the turbo. I don't understand how it's possible but replacing the pipe seemed to fix the problem. I'm not saying what I said is 100% correct, I am very open to being told if & why I am wrong. But ultimately I wanted to show that just because there is black smoke doesn't instantly mean it's fuel related. Borken splines: The ones of the compressor of the turbo. He said about there being a foreign body getting in didn't he? If something gets in there then as you know it can potentially damage the fins/splines or whatever they are actually called, I can't remember if there is a proper name.
  7. Didn't realise I was in the presence of a master mechanic!!
  8. Could have blown a seal or a gasket which can be replaced or could have broken the splines in the turbo and you will need a new turbo for that. Might as well check the induction and exhaust systems to be sure. You'll find out what's damaged when you look at it really c
  9. I have recently been told of a fault where black smoke was coming out the back and it turned out to be a split turbo pipe on the exhaust side. Strange I know. I have also been under the impression that black smoke is to do with fuel. I can imagine what would happen is that a split or damaged turbo on the exhaust side would allow exhaust gases to escape therefore the compressor won't create enough pressure etc etc and ultimately over fuelling (run rich?) and causing the smoke.
  10. You need to be a little more specific with what's happened. Has something actually gotten sucked into the engine? Is it just a turbo seal? What side of the turbo is the damage?
  11. If it actually went in then it could have damaged the piston, maybe the valves as well. It can destroy the seals, break off the fins in the turbo, scratch, damage and weaken the pistons. If you want to check then you're going to have the take the pistons out.
  12. That's quite a good idea. There is only so long I can stand and look at cars before getting bored.
  13. I'm up for doing this. Can't confirm my commitment each time until the day before quite often. There is usually a big meet in Cribbs Causway in the car park outside TK Max for all modded cars. I am aware of it happening every sunday between 18:00 and 22:00, the better the weather the better the turn out. I have been told however that the last Sunday of every month is the biggest meet. I will hopefully be able to make this months one. Let me know if you're going.

    manual/auto

I have never driven a manual supra so cannot compare as such. The auto is very nice to drive, smooth gear changes, relaxing in traffic, pretty quick in a straight line of course. Only downside is that the kick down is a bit slow. I have a triptronic and when in manual it takes about a second or so to change the gear, but it's easy to judge when you have to press the button. So not the best for rapid/sudden manual gear changes. I would like to own a manual supra but I don't feel like I am missing out because I have an auto.
  15. Tried a new one and it doesn't work. I'm having my spare fob and a little emergency imboliser de-activator sent to me to try. I'm hoping it's just the fob that is broke. No idea what the alarm is, I believe its the standard one it comes out the factory with. Do you know how I can find out?
  16. I have a little problem with my key fob for the supra. I used it to lock the car and set the alarm, I went back 1 hour later, pressed the button to unlock it and nothing. I opened it using the key, opened the door and the alarm went off and I have not been able to start it due to the imobiliser. The fob seems the look like it should work, I have a little red light that pops up as usual when I press a button but literally nothing is happening. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Could it be the fob battery? Thanks, Tristan
  17. Ha, that would be brilliant. I think I spoke to him. Came up next to each other at the lights. Recommended this site to him. Of its a beat up one then it's him. Got it for £200! I think some people just have no idea what they have sometimes.
  18. I actually get really excited and beep, flash, wave and shout all at once. In usually met with looks of "wtf!!" I think they are non members though. Although there are a few in bristol I never see any and I'm on the road in mine every day and have yet to be spotted *violin*
  19. Wouldn't that be the rpm sensor? If you're on about the rpm reading at idle then I would think thats electronic and is adjusted by many factors that relay info to the ECU from multiple sensors. I might be completely missing the point but that's what I'm getting from what you are asking. The idle air control valve seems a common reason why the idle wouldn't be quite right according to this forum
  20. If she is running fine with no unexpected smoke coming from anywhere then why try fixing it?! Have a quick search on google to see what the make up is within the silencer. If no luck then take it to a garage and get them to have a look.
  21. I can't remember exactly but isn't it one of the ways a silencer is filled to help reduce the emissions or control the noise. Wouldn't go pulling it out just incase it is actually meant to be in there.
  22. No need for a hotel as I live in Bristol. Need to find a mate to ride along with me who is willing to pay a little fuel money and I should be good to go as long as work doesn't tell me in working on the weekend.
  23. Do you need to know for definite if people will be able to make it? Basically work doesn't allow me to plan too far ahead. So I will literally know for definite on Friday if I can make it or not.
  24. I had a look at that. Not sure if I will be around or even if I'll be able to afford it
